Why Can't DC Get it right? - Part 2

No but because of censorship here, I think most times it is.

How? If someone wants to say that a movie is ****, they can say it. I've said as much about the most recent FF movie on numerous occasions.

I've have said you can & welcome it. Go back and re-read other posts.
All I said is i think some will say bad when they mean S**t. You gotta relax Flint.

My opinion on why DC can't get it right

1. They are trying to hard to make their movie serious. I think they all fell in love with V for Vendetta and are trying to copy it but it doesn't work to well. It's a superhero movie. Have some fun with it. I am not saying go full Deadpool(although I love would love a Lobo movie)

2. Way way way too huge of a reliance on Batman and Superman. Just too much. And this wouldn't be so bad if they didn't treat them like some untouchable religious icons. Seriously Thor is a goddamn god and he is not treated even half as pretentiously as they are treating Superman. If you are going to endlessly give us the same characters at least let's shake things up a bit.. And no having them murder people doesn't really count. That was just lame

3. Making their movies goddamn dark. As in visually. I am still so pissed at the Doomsday fight. It was a mess. I could barely see anything. Like what the **** were they thinking?

4. Not enough movie with not enough characters. The DC universe is full of characters and many of them don't require a big budget. We can have a whole flood of them. Yes of course I want a Wonder Woman movie(although I would prefer if she got recast) and I would love a Supergirl movie . Especially one set outside Earth but there are also so many other characters we can have.

The Green Arrow already gained fame with the TV series. We can have a movie based on him without a problem. We can have a fascinating movie based around the Question which would also be a great way to dig into how society reacts to Superheroes and so on and so on. So much potential so little will.

I wouldn't necessarily think anyone who called BVS **** (I'd use the word "poor") is over the top, looking specifically at the TC. If that upsets you then I'd stop taking it so personally.

Getting back to the root topic of the thread, I think part of DC's problem is there is not one clear vision of how its universe should evolve.

Suicide Squad will get it right, I'm very optimistic!

Okay I think a large part of the problem is over thinking **** like ****. We are making a cohesive universe with a lot of characters more complicated than it needs to be.

What if we start introducing a larger DC universe not with a single character? But instead with the Justice League movie.

Hear me out:
Superman and Batman does not need introduction, there are tribes in the amazon who has no contact with the white man but still know the origins of these two ****ing characters by now. The important thing for Wonder Woman is not necessarily her origin but we can use her origin in the Justice League movie (like the animated series but she does not steal the armour but our introduction to her is kicking ass and taking names at the games for wearing the armour and becoming champion of the Amazons. Than something happens and she goes to our world to fight demons with the Justice League. Flash also do not need to much of an origin story because again not the most important thing about him. Green lantern could have just been recently given the ring and throughout the entire movie is trying to figure exactly how it works and his own sequel is him finding out about the DC cosmic universe and the Greeen Lantern Corps. Black Canary (yes I am adding another female to this roster it is 2016 and we need more than one woman on the team at its founding, also that way DC upstages marvel) again we need no real origin story for her but only see her kicking ass and taking names. The last one (which could be anyone you want from Martian Manhunter to Aquaman to Green Arrow does not really matter) Atom needs more of an introduction but again all we need to etablish is A smart dude who finds a white star and makes a belt where he explores the foundations of our universe with and fights bad guys.

I think this is a much better approach than either trying to ape Marvel or trying to do the **** they are doing now.

Obviously do it still needs fine tuning and a good script and all those things but as an Idea i think it is worth a try. Because they will never have the same thing as marvel did where we are satisfied with all these characters from their seperate movies coming together because that is what Marvel did it success cannot be replicated. But we can build on that success to make our own way.

They seemingly never approach things in an organic way.

They've put themselves in a position where they're constantly having to react. They're behind the eight ball. I'm genuinely concerned for Wonder Woman. If Suicide Squad underperforms, that film will be the next casualty of studio interference. Now everything rides on Wonder Woman's first feature film. I don't envy Patty Jenkins one bit.

And I was thinking that after MOS and BvS, more pressure was on SS and WW. But, after how things are going so far (and depending on the box office), WW is going to have even more pressure on it. Given the reactionary history of WB and their DC films post-Nolan, I don't think we will be hearing good news about WW's development.

I think we're basically gonna have to endure, albeit publicly, the very awkward growing pains of the DCCU . I tend to think it won't be till after JLA part one when we really see them get their stride.

Till then, I tend think we'll have more "meh" to "weak" entries in the canon than solid films.

After recent revelations I am convinced more than ever they are just in too big of a hurry to set up their shared universe that they sacrifice everything else to get there.

I was convinced when they awkwardly shoved Batman in a MOS sequel.

Good point. I forgot about that. Damn. This whole thing got off on a terrible foundation.

I still believe you can have Bruce Wayne/Batman as a supporting character in a full-fledged Superman film and have it work to great effect.

What they did was not the right approach.

That was a sure sign of desperation. They expected Man of Steel to make at least $1 billion and it came up well short. So the executives response is to take the easy way out and add a more popular character to the mix.

And that's the kind of **** that'll scare away directors down the road.

Really throws egg on the face of WB's "filmmaker studio" mantra.

They need a broad theme that incorporates the filmmaker studio approach. Something like, "These guys are great, but do we really need the theatrics of costumed heroes to make the world a better place?" Its a spin on "not all heroes need wear capes/costumes."

Warner Bros: "We're dedicated to a filmmaker driven universe.... of extended cuts on BluRay."

Suicide Squad: The Studio Cut arrives in theaters on August 5th!

If that doesn't float your boat, don't worry! Suicide Squad: The Filmmaker Cut will hit Blu-Ray shelves just in time for the holidays!
