Cate Blanchett is the Mysterious & Powerful Villainess HELA! - Part 1

It's a shame that we didn't have a Hela and Odin reunion. That was a big loss.
Cate Blanchett and Anthony Hopkins sharing a scene would have been amazing.

It does seem like a bit of a missed opportunity, but this movie had to pack in plenty of other stuff as well so I can see why it didnt happen.

Get them back together!

That strut is pure ownage! Man she totally needs to come back.

The Hela strut is a sight to behold, she's a badass and she knows it. :woot: I think that's my favourite thing about her, her wonderful arrogance and attitude. Remember Loki's quote from TA: "You are, all of you, beneath me!", that quote just sums up Hela's whole personality to me.

I can't help but think that, as much as I love Ragnarok (still my favourite MCU film overall), there were quite a few missed opportunities when it comes to Hela, teases of things that they never quite followed through with, and it's such a shame. But, if they bring her back, I'm very willing to forgive and forget. :cwink:

Stumbled across this last night, what a great piece of art. Hela and Thanos by Sergio Davila:

I feel like we've been waiting forever to see what the two of them get up to next after Jason Aaron's comments last year and Thor #700. Come on already, Marvel!

Yeah I feel there were a few missed opportunities also, despite loving the movie. For example, would have also loved to see Hela vs The Destroyer in Odin treasure vault.

Also, I wanted to see a bit Hulk vs Hela, but that’s because I am a Hulk fan.

Hela vs Hulk would have been pretty damn cool, but I understand why they didn't go there. It was Thor's movie after all and he had to be the one to get the fight scenes with the big villain who happened to be his own sister. :cwink: I just wish the throne room fight between Thor and Hela could have been a bit longer, they were really going at each other and it would have been nice to see more of that.

Because it's Oscar night tomorrow and awards season is just so very dull without Cate :oldrazz::

personally, Hulk shouldn't have been in Ragnarok.

not saying that I hated him but you know...

Finally saw this. I was slightly disappointed they didn't have the shot from the trailer of Cate Blanchett destroying the hammer in the alleyway.

She had a certain sexy smirk on her face that wasn't quite as present in the actual film where the scene took place in Norway instead.

For the expression, why couldn't they take the one from the original scene filmed? It was more enticing. They could've just put her into a different background for that little bit or zoomed in on her face. She was never going to be able to duplicate that micro expression exactly.

If anyone has gifs of the two versions side by side for comparison, please post.

They did briefly use the same shot from the original alleyway scene:

I personally think it was a mistake, that was the most dodgy green screen shot in the whole film, it was glaringly obvious that they'd just superimposed her onto a different background. And to make matters worse in the next shot of her (which was clearly done later during the reshoots), her hair looks completely different:

It would have been much better if they'd just reshot the whole thing instead of using that random superimposed shot from the trailer/alleyway scene.

Yeah, I would have loved another 40 seconds or so of that throne fight.

Even just a quick skirmish between the 2 would have been great, like when Thor and Valkyrie are fighting her on the bridge. But oh well.

Agree on throne room fight, I wouldn’t have minded that being longer either.

so for those of you who have Blu-Ray, are there any deleted scenes featuring Hela???

Well they should've styled her hair the same way with the strands of hair falling over her face. And they should've made her rewatch her earlier footage to get that smirk in instead of just doing a completely new interpretation. I prefer the way she turns her head in the original and has her head slightly bent downwards.

I'm glad Odin did not just die in some dark alley. That would have been a disgrace. I wholeheartedly agree with the change they made to the film by taking him to Norway instead.

100%. I also just wish his peaceful death was in the first draft of the script and it could have been filmed in New Zealand. That would have been perfect. Oh and a interaction with Cate Blanchett would have been great too, even though i am not that sure how it could play out in that "peaceful vibe"...

Unfortunately, no. The only glimpse of Hela amongst the deleted scenes is one that isn't really a deleted scene, it was just done for fun. In the scene where Hela is ordering Skurge to execute the random Asgardian woman, Yondu all of a sudden bursts through the crowd shouting for them to stop and asking for directions to 'Kev and Lou's office' (a.k.a. Kevin Feige and Louis D'Esposito, President and VP of Marvel Studios). One of the Asgardians points and Yondu tells them to carry on and wanders off. It's pretty funny, and awesome of Michael Rooker to do it just for a little throwaway gag. :woot:

I agree. Hela actually killed Odin in the original scene too rather than him dying peacefully. I do think it was ultimately the right thing to do to change it to the more peaceful Norway setting, but I wish they had included the original scene amongst the deleted stuff, it's disappointing that they didn't. I also wouldn't have felt too sorry for Odin either, considering it was all his mess in the first place. Dude should give lessons on truly terrible parenting. :oldrazz:

Seeing Hela for the first time since watching the film in cinemas. Cate Blanchett absolutely born for this. So good!!

hm pity.

Yeah, there was no scene between Cate and Anthony, right? That does seem odd. But at least we got Matt Damon and Sam Neill.

I like the fact that Odin's death allowed Hela to finally break free of her prison. I realize that prevents them sharing screen time together but I thought it was a cool plot point.

They could always do a flashback to Odin's warmongering days in a future movie.

There was one filmed but it never made it into the final film. In the original cut Hela somehow broke out of her prison independently and killed Odin in an alleyway in New York, but the whole sequence was eventually reshot with Odin dying peacefully in the field in Norway and Hela then escaping.

You would've enjoyed seeing Hulk get battered and destroyed?

What kind of fan is that?

It was glorious! And Hela confirmed herself as my favorite MCU villain. The film needs a lot more of her. What a woman!

The film had the right amount of Hela to me.
