Actually, if you recall the first Spider-Man movie, the Green Goblin threw a pumpkin bomb at the group of former board members and they incinerated - except for a skeleton. Pumpkin bombs are designed to do just that. They're powerful little devices.

And it nearly melted off the side of Harry's face. :P So, I think unless you possess super healing abilities similar to the Goblins, you're a goner.

And yes, you do see the skeleton - even on Blu Ray. There's apparently nothign much left of Brock or the symbiote... EXCEPT for that one sample of symbiote that Peter sent to Dr. Connors. It's probably still in his office.

So, it's possible that little sample could be used in future movies with another host... who knows?

In the comics, the original pumpkin bombs (unless I remember wrong) were like those used by the Goblin in the first movie.

But you're probably right. I suppose it could be that other versions were developed, considering that Norman had so many lined up in his Goblin Lair. My bad...

But it does look like the one used on Venom/Eddie though, was one of the same Norman used in the first movie at the Unity Day Festival. The after-effects look identical.

That's interesting. I haven't had the chance to read the novelization for Spidey 2 (or 1). I've only read the one for Spidey 3.

You are probably right for the pumpkin bomb peter used on eddy, probably the same as in sm1 at the fair.

The novelisation is kewl, there is a lot of plot point that are not in the movie. I found amusing to see some scenes in 2.1 thate were in the novel but not in the original movie. I had a lot of fun in reading it and highly suggest it to you, I found it better than the Spidey 3 novelisation (and weirdly it has a lot more page, almost double in size even if spider-man 3 's scenario was more crammed in stuff).

Okay. I have absolutely zero interest in seeing Venom return to the big screen in any way...

But I watched my copy of the DVD last week and there was no skeleton. If there was. Then it was for a fraction of a fraction of a second and no where near as apparent as it was when I saw it five times in the theatre.

If it's there, it's undetectable by the human eye.

Right. I just popped the disc in and watched the explosion again, this time in slow-mo and it is there after all (barely)!

Well, by this logic Harry should have been incinerated as well from the Green Goblin's Pumpkin bomb along with the board members. I think this is more of a case of the Pumpkin Bomb properties fitting what they wanted it to do, not what it's actually capable of doing.

Goblins have various bombs, not all of them incinerate people, some simply blow up like regular bombs. Some even have razors with no bomb at all. It's the Goblin way is all.

I can accept bombs that explode like regular bombs and bombs with Razor Bats inside, yes. But it's ludicrous to have a bomb that merely scarred Harry incinerate Eddie and the symbiote. You are exactly right, the bomb in the first one that turned the board members into skeletons didnt explode as well, when the one at the end of Spidey 3 boht exploded and incinerated Eddie.

The bomb that scarred Harry's face was the same type that Gobby #1 threw at Peter in the old brick building at the end of Spider-Man 1. Those particular bombs simply explode. So we have already seen that type from the first film. They simply explode. It bloodied Peter's face and took off most of his msk. As I see it, Pete is just more powerful than Harry, which is why Harry was left scarred. Gobby 1 had bombs that explode, incinerate, or had razor flying thingees. It's not really that difficult to understand.

Yeah, it appears he made improvements on several things. The modified Glider, the suit (more utilitarian, rather than flashy/creepy - gets the job done), and he also apparently made the "Goblin energy sword" as well. Quite an improvement in an apparently short amount of time. LOL. The creation of which was, of course, elapsed over in the movie for obvious reasons.

And you're right on the pumpkin bombs. In the comics, of course, eventually there later came ghost bombs and several other aptly named explosives. The Goblins get cool toys.

Yeah, the Razor-Bats were a pretty cool invention, if not annoying for Peter - and even Harry himself at times. lol. Effective, yet they seem to be a serious occupational hazard for anyone caught in the path of them.

I just don't see how it could destroy the whole thing plus Eddie.

Even though we did see some burnt remaints of the symbiote slither down through a hole; but it just seems like Raimi over-reacted with one little bomb destroying it.
