Chapter 23 - "How To Stop An Exploding Man" - Discussion Thread 5/21/07

THey better keep takei around if they don't bring back Hayden or Milo. I'm guessing that the cop survived I don't think that Sylar could throw those back with the same propulsion. Maybe he can though. I'm guessing that either Takei or Simone's father are the ones that the girl who can track is refering to.

Noo, bring back the Petrelli's!!
Hiro's father is totally Kensei.
It at least looks like George Pataki (Or however you spell his name...) will be playing him, it looked like his eyes. It would be cool if he was the same guy and lived a long time.

It was a pretty toned down episode. No big action packed moments. How did Matt become so stupid? And Dl shouldn't even be standing.
It looked like Matt had a bulletproof vest on so it depends on how stupid is stupid. He got shot but at least he is still alive. Sylar is alive too from the looks of it, tho one has to wonder why he just stood there and let Hiro stab him without trying to stop it.

Umm people lets all focus here.

They stopped an exploding man but now they have to stop this NEW Baddie that freaks molly out so much.

So what little dangler from this finale is everyone looking forward to for next season? Besides some of the obvious things, I'm really curious as to who this mystery person is who could see Molly when she would use her powers to see him. A new bad guy for next year?

I kind of predicted that end after Hiro disappeared. Nathan could still be alive. He could have flown really high, then let Peter fall. Peter is probably not dead. Remember what Claire said early in the episode? He would explode, but not die after killing all of those people.
I wanna see how Mama Petrelli acts after all of this.

That would be the same for me. A new villian is always a treat. :)

It's Sauron!!!:wow::wow:
LOL!!!
He's obviously pretty powerful.

To survive wouldnt he need to be using 2 powers at once?

DId they ever say show who nathan's father was? What was his power? I hope it is to come back and slap his wife.

I don't know why so many people are saying Peter is dead. We know he survived blowing up in the Five Years Gone ep, he obviously would have surivived this.

Peter wont die unless he's decapitated. Ted's powers doesn't cause damage to his body. It builds up energy and releases it without destroying the body in the process. Think of dbz charging and release. Peter is safe because of regeneration. Nathan is a mixed bag. Even if he released Peter, he would still recieve radiation unless it was low enough for Nathan to bounce back from.

new badys uluru, what if Hiro meets uluru back in time this could explian the painting with the sword. my head is full of ideas man.

A bit anti-climactic but all in all a good show. Can't wait till next season.:woot:

SOMETHING COOL, WE NOW KNOW HRG'S REAL NAME IS "NOA BENNET", COOL STUFF!!!:D:up:

maybe I missed something but why didn't Claire shoot Peter? presumably Peter's nuclear powers would have shut down after dying from the bullet which would have allowed his body to access Claire's powers.

My problems with this episode
(first off Im big fan of the show so dont hate me for picking on this episode)

-whats the diff between claire shooting peter and nathan saving him>?
anyone could have shot peter, why did nathan have to fly him off and sacrifice himself?
im guessing it has to do with the uncertainty of if the bullet will actually stop him, but they didnt explain that further

another horrible point in this epsiode was not the fact that Hiro stabbed him it was how it happend
-it seemed effortless and if sylar wanted to stop him he could have all they had to do was show hiro stop time sylar see him and then cut rite to hiro with the sowrd in him
i dont get why they showed him run up to him like that it made no sense?

Im thinking they had alot more to add to this episode but they couldnt because they didnt have time
They should have just made it a 2hour episode

Want a list of the things that sucked about the episode?

1) Security guards not being able to find the three "Minorities abound" family in the Lindermin building after he was killed. That place would of been locked down and had poliece surrounding it in minutes.
2) DL would of died. Fast. None of that walking around and being like "ohh this hurts!" bit. He would of died in Nikki's arm's like it was showing at the end of last episode.
3) Parkman going to kill Sylar alone. He already shot him with a full clip in one of the first episodes and he survived, or did the writers forget that because they changed so much of what they were gonna do with the show.
4) The little girl going off about how theres someone more scary than Sylar.
5) Suresh not getting shot or hurt at all. He should of died. Long ago.
6) Nikki, for NO REASON WHATSOEVER, stopped Sylar from beating Peters head in with a parking meter.
7) Clair not being able to shoot Peter, when he obviously would of survived.
8) Peter not being able to fly away when he was about to explode.
9) The Clair/Nathan scene at the end where Peter's just chillin in the back tapping his foot looking at his watch.
10) The whole "Sylar got away / was dragged into the sewer!" bit. Should of just had his body disappear and not make any mention of it. He's in the next season as a regular, probably going to go through some "anti-hero" changes, but seriously.
11) No big "Peter VS. Sylar fight". It was like 15 seconds, and Peter was getting help from all kinda of people randomly.

I could probably go on if I wanted to. But seriously, NBC screwed the pooch by not airing last weeks and this weeks episodes in 1 2hr season finale. If they did, it would of been MUCH better. There was a lot of action and an "epic" feel to last weeks ep. This one felt more like a "Ah ****, we were only signed on for 23 ep's for the season? Alright, lets just lump everyone together and throw some glaring mis-characterizations out there and hope no one notices because, get this, we'll throw Hiro in Fuduel Japan at the end!"

This was disappointing with really poor writing.

Yeah I agree. Seemed like they rushed this for some reason. I hated the ending with Hiro. I thought it would have been a lot cooler if he traveled back in time and turned around and the T-Rex was hovering over him. O well. I hope Nathan somehow got away. Pretty sure it isn't possible because of the blast radius. I'm just looking foward to this person Molly can see and we can't. At first I thought it was the Invisible guy and then he'd show up by the end, but he didn't so maybe I was wrong.

well if claire shot him in the head and the bullet stayed there, then peter would have died-died, therefore that's the only way you can kill either one of them. at the same time, killing-killing peter would have shut down his nuclear powers as well as his other powers (including healing, see?). now, why would she hesitate? well are you saying that even if millions of lives depended on it, you still wouldnt hesitate to kill your savior/uncle/person-who-loves-and-cares-for-you?

Well my take on Sylar is this;
He either didn't think Hiro had it in him to go through with it, so he didn't bother to react.
Or, and this is more likely...Sylar had seen the future,, knew he was going to get stabbed and survive it, so he let it happen.

And as for Peter not flying away on his own. He just came into contact with a few more people and Sylar, so he was absorbing multiple abilities. Plus it took a lot of concentration not to lose control of Ted's power on top of that. He didn't fly away becasue he didn't want to risk losing hold of Ted's power by putting some concentration into another one.

SouLeSS
wow I agree with at least 90% of you're points

Hopefully we can see some extra bits in the deleted scenes section on the box set

I hope to god next season was as good as this season minus a few episodes

and hopefully they will have better pacing
