Chapter 23 - "How To Stop An Exploding Man" - Discussion Thread 5/21/07

Here's some thoughts I posted in another thread:

Well, it looks like the consensus is that Nathan will have a last minute change of heart and, not wanting have Peter killed by Claire, will decided to fly Peter up into the sky where Peter explodes, thus sacrificing himself.

I'd also go as far to say that the person Molly can't find, who is "worse" than Sylar is Uluru, whoever that happens to be.

I'd also say that Sylar survives, but is severely wounded by Hiro.

Also, here's something I found, which may or may not be a photoshop that shows Hiro's fate:

EDIT: Also, has anyone considered the possibility that Simone and her father appear to be back from the dead because Linderman used his healing powers to resurrect them?

Just judging by the way his character is going, i was thinking Nathan would do something along those lines. It just doesn't make sense to have he and Mr. Bennett in the picture. And Peter is too good of a character to kill off.

An idea to maybe "start Peter's powers over" perhaps the Hatian makes Peter forget about Ted? Hence not being able to remember him and use/ loos control of his power?

Also, and I'm not sure if this is part of Nikki's power, but I would love to see a Peter's absortion of Nikki's power, and perhaps have a darker half of Peter running amuck in season II!

Well if Sylar is supposed to be signed for season two already then I guess that means some sort of narrow escape by him. If that is the case it would be interesting if a lot of season two was Peter getting trained a little bit more and after absorbing Molly's tracking ability, he uses it to search the world for Sylar, always just a step behind. Heh, and think of what he'd save in airplane tickets compared to Sylar.

The "Nathan sacrificing himself" theory is very likely and has been tossed around alot.As likely as it is,I'm hoping the writers throw us a curveball.Nathan's been one of the most interesting characters on the show always walking the line between good and bad while having a cynical and not so fantastic view, like Hiro and Peter, on everyone getting powers.

Monday can't come soon enough.

Didn't know where to really post this theory of mine, but here it is:

Episode 16: Unexpected
With the debate about Peter using or having Eden's persuasion voice power when he fights Isaac and Simone dies...that was a 'Telekinetic Voice' he used.

Telekinesis often has to be channeled through something: the wave of a hand, the blinking of an eye, a nod of the head, but Peter did none of those gestures. However, when he increased and deepened his voice, that is when/how he channeled the telekinesis and Isaac flew across the room!
the writers have said that Peter does have Eden's power, but he doesn't know it since he doesn't know (yet) that she had an ability. also, the voice Sylar used (and Peter) was just the sound guy having fun...also according to the writers.

Spoiler!

I just noticed someone already posted it, my mistake. But as for your pic, all I see is a red x.

Will the season finale be two hours long?

I HOPE SO!

here's the pic again...lightened up a little

Yeah just saw this episode
Freaking awesome
The last 15 minutes the actual showdown was great
Im so tempted to ruin the whole thing but im not that evil
I'll tell you one thing Hiro and the samurais is the very end of the episode
and OMG Bennett has a first name!?! They actually revealed his name?!?
I laughed so hard when I heard this it was amazing

A while back I believed in the theory (or at least thought it sounded neat) that Hiro might go back in time and actually BECOME Takezo Kensei, but now I really hope that doesn't happen.

I hate when they have inconsistent rules in time travel. The way they've set it up, going back in time alters the future. There's no loop effect where you can go back in time and be your own ancestor, not in the Heroes universe. If Hiro jumps back that far in time, whatever he changes should significantly alter the present, so I hope it doesn't happen.

I should probably get off the internet now though, since Heroes isn't on in my time zone for another 3 and a half hours. So tempted to reveal that spoiler tag above. AHH!!!

when does it start us time? (how many hours/minutes?)

Less than 30 minutes now. I live on the east coast. :)

No. Hiro doesn't kill Sylar, but from what I've heard from other sites, he does hurt him really bad in the finale.

That's even cooler. At least Hiro got Sylar. :D

niiiiice. thanks! [blackout]i figured Hiro would be a descendant of Kensei. that's awesome[/blackout]

No problem, and I know! That's really cool.

when does it start us time? (how many hours/minutes?)

Starts and 9:00pm. Only a half hour left!

was anyone else horribly underwhelmed by this episode?
ugh.

actually it makes perfect sense. If hiro IS kensei then he's not changing anything. Kensei existed so hiro is simply going through the motions and the timeline remains intact.

If however he goes back and ISN'T kensei thinks could actually get screwed up

Remember, this show is VERY big on the concept of fate

Sorry if this has been discussed earlier but i heard a rumour that tonights episode was a double length episode... Can anyone confirm any truth in this?

I thought it was only a single hour. :)
