Chapter 4: The Kindness of Strangers Discussion 10/15/2007

Oh, and for everyone saying there's only 11 people in the photograph, I direct you to this:

Link cause the picture's pretty big.

Hey i dont know if anyone noticed this or not.....but if you look at the background of the picture it the same place that many things have happened such as kaito's death ando and hiro ended up there in the 5 years gone episode etc.....do we think this specific area has some significance
:gl:

Oh and before I forget...who is the burnette actress who is playing one of the twelve in the photo next to Parkman's dad? She looks really familiar.

yes, it's deveaux' building. it has plenty of significance.

but in the canadian preview matss on the floor saying "i guess we know why molly calls him the nightmare man" i'll find a link
that doesn't prove or disprove anything. it's a pretty straightforward statement.

but at the end of the day one thing weve learnt is with heroes ecpect the unexpected and lets face it if it was parkmans dad they would of revealed a major season story really early in plus it just seems to straight foward

this season is going to be broken up into multiple volumes, not just one volume like the first season. the character of sylar was introduced early last season as was the notion of the bomb and the need to stop it. the nightmare man was introduced at the end of last season, so it's not as if it just fell out of the blue in this one episode of this volume.

I think the thing about Nathan being scarred from the explosion at the end of S1 is pretty valid. Peter can absorb and exercise multiple abilities, so why can't his brother? Perhaps Nathan has a bit of Candice's power? BUT at the end of this ep, he punches the mirror, implying its more of a Nikki/Jessica thing. So who knows.

I think they are trying to avoid the LOST set up here and are revealing things earlier on (like the reveals on 24, the mysteries last about 4 episodes) to avoid heads exploding accross America and keep the viewers tuned in. I'm not ruling out curveballs in the show but i think for every MAJOR reveal there will be a handfull of minor reveals given to us throughout the season. I think that's good and this season has already won me back after serious dissapointment in last season's finale.

Daniel Cerranza was intrigued by Nathan's grotesque reflection, which leads him to ask, "Is there more to Nathan than meets the eye? Does he have more than one power?" I don't think he's suggesting Nathan is a Transformer, although if he were we'd guess he could transform into a Porsche.

As we noted Son Gohan up above, we haven't seen the last of “monster face.” But so far as we know, he flies and that's it.

just some food for thought ....who's to say that this boogeyman molly sees and the person killing off the 12 is one and the same

Mikas Cousin who can watch **** on tv and do it...
THAT KICK WAS AWSOME!!! i loved that bit

ok so how could Mat's dad not be the nightmare man if molly recognized him before she even looked for him for mat? i mean its pretty much like, mat said "find him please. that's my dad." and molly's like "Oh Em Gee! That's also the Nighmare man! I remember him from my nightmares." but mysterio is saying they're 2 different people? what?

oh and thanks dr venture for the cap. :)

no, i'm saying they're the same person. a couple of others on here are saying they're different people.

How could they get it mixed up. Showed her the picture. Shows her the man he wants her to find,Then she said 'He's the Nightmare Man', Then he says it's his dad....She comes back later and says she will find him.

i have no idea. i just watched the scene again and there is no doubt. Parkman points to his father in the picture, and Molly says "please don't make me look for him." Parkman asks, "why not?" Molly answers, "because he's the man in my dreams. he's the nightmare man." i have no idea how anyone who watched the show can think they're two different people.

True. Nightmare man is Matt's father, BUT I bet that the hooded killer isn't.

Really? 'Cos I'm a fan of the show and all but the one thing I've learned is expect exactly what you expected a dozen episodes or so ago.

No kidding. Some people probably feel its just too simple and that there has to be a twist behind this, even though Molly explicitly said that Parkman's dad was the "Nightmare Man." That said, I wonder what Mr. Parkman's ability is? Obviously it's clairvoyant in nature since he can detect Molly's presence and it seems likely that he was the one who attacked Mama Petrelli. My guess he's Heroes equivalent of the "Scarecrow" and "Mr. Fear" in that he project fear-inducing hallucinations via telepathy/remote viewing, and that, because they are so intense and seem so real, Mr. Parkman can cause psychosomatic injuries to others, sort of like the old wives tale of if you die in your dreams you die in real life. Which would explain why Molly is terrified of him and how Mama Petrelli injured herself because she was fighting off an "imaginary attacker." It also make him potentially one of the most dangerous people alive.

How about mind control, too? Like maybe "joyriding" Nathan into killing Nakamura? Then again, if you're on the right track, maybe there wasn't anyone there on the roof at all?

oh my bad. then that's not directed at you. but it is directed at whoever else believes that.

i'm sure he isn't. mat's dad seemed like a big fellow. hood-man was pretty skinny. and besides, mama-petrelli already kinda made it clear that these killings are acts of revenge for the horrible things that were done by the group she was in. mat's dad is also in that group so he wouldn't be killing them off.
