The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 7: In The Name of Honor (Spoiler Discussion)

I guess they let Fennec kill the bosses just to give her something to do since Boba killed Bane and Din was dealing with the Rancor. I wasn't really bothered by it considering the Pyke boss and the mayor were barely in the show anyway.

Great finale and what I wanted from the show at the end. Now they just need to add a couple of episodes before the Mando hijack to show Boba’s story lol. I didn’t know rancors could move like that! Hope that’s not the end of Cad Bane.

Bruh The Rancor did not disappoint at all in this finale is probably the MVP of the episode IMO. Seeing it wrecking those droids and almost destroying the town was very well done and I loved the bit with Grogu.

This episode felt very much like classic Rodriguez and in the vein of Desperado/El Mariachi which I really dug and appreciated, but Rodriguez was definitely the weakest director they got for this show.

It just wasn't as good as the previous episodes, but I really enjoyed it overall despite the problems it had most importantly the build-up and structure being very messy and contrived at times.

Also, as much as I love Ming-Na Wen as Fennec man did, she steal a lot of shine from Boba throughout this show and especially this episode. Seeing Mando and Boba team-up was dope and the duel with Cad Bane was pretty badass, but it should have been him going after and killing those final bosses at the end.

At least he got some great moments though which is better than nothing I guess, but all this show really did in the end was make me more excited for Mando Season 3.
Thing is I was thinking she was disappointingly missing during the final showdown so this made up for that for me. She is the better stealth character and about as high as a no.2 can get.

Man. I don't know why I thought that was Sing in the bacta tank. Too many binge sessions I guess.

Really messy episode. However I enjoyed it. Cad Bane vs Boba was excellent but wish they did more with Cad earlier in the season to build to it better. Also think they could've had Cad kill a couple foot soldiers or a Mod before the final confrontation. Boba action was good. Rancor stuff was the highlight.

Oddly enough I thought Grogu was one of the weakest things about the finale. He felt very forced. Either that or it was Peli that was hurting everything.

For the series, it didn't land 100% but it did enough to be a good diversion. I objectively think Mando Season 1 and 2 are better but there's more that tickles my nostalgia bone with Book of Boba Fett that I enjoy it as much as Mando Season 2. I'm down for a second season of Boba but I would rather have no Rodriguez or give him directing duties on a filler episode and leave the finale and/or premiere to Favreau.

If it’s the end of Bane then I’d prefer him to have been built up more earlier. If more to come then fine.

I agree on Grogu not being needed for the mega-droideka things but I think having him put the rancor to sleep at the end was the best way to finish. I was worried they might have to kill it off otherwise once it started wrecking shop. :csad:

I liked a lot of things on this show but it’s not at the level of Mandalorian season 1 or 2 for me.

I've kind of resigned myself to the Favreau/Filoni shows being enjoyable to me for fanservice. Neither one's really impressed me too much as a full show, but hey, there's Cad Bane and Captain Rex-style pilot droid heads and Bo Katan I guess. It's enjoyable in that way but I'm hoping for more from the shows outside of this circle, like Obi-Wan and Andor.

I think he's dead but the beauty of these SW shows is that he could appear in ones that take place a little before Book of Boba Fett. I agree though. I think they really could've played up their rivalry more and perhaps Cad should've been the killer of the Tuskens. I don't see why they couldn't go the route that the Pykes hired him years ago for that duty.

I like him showing up here, I liked his scenes, I liked Corey Burton's Cad Bane voice as I always do, but they definitely could have handled him better. Their showdown really does feel like payoff to something that doesn't actually exist yet.

Mandalorian set the bar high for a totally new character so I'm hoping this level can be achieved for many of our favourites. Fan service is like a cheat win lol when the show otherwise wouldn't be as satisfying as an isolated standalone.

I was the one agreeing with you, don't give me any credit. :cwink:

Shame if he is dead and will be cool to see him in shows set in the past, although I prefer to see characters anticipated as much as this out there in the wild free to do anything in the "present" (if that means much in the context of these shows - I am weak on lore and how all these shows are connecting together and their time periods associated with each other)

I would have liked to see this season be a proper Boba show and set up this rivalry, with the death/major confrontation taking place in season 2. Alternatively they could have given us those missing development episodes that should have come instead of the prior 2 episodes that went on a big sidetrack too early. That was when I was looking forward to Boba's clan growing in power and getting a notable victory or 2 on their own, before drafting in Din and co for the bigger battle.

I meant to mention that I love the voice for Cad Bane. There were no poor scenes with Bane IMO but we could have done with more to justify that final confrontation and knowing more of the history that led up to it. I'm sure it would have been great to see this history play out on screen within this first season rather than inviting every living Star Wars show character for a big party (which itself was great) that Boba couldn't even attend and before he had fully established himself in his own series. Both confrontations between Boba and Bane were done really well in this episode, but part of their allure was based on something theoretical that I'd rather have seen develop in front of me. Actually I wrote the last few sentences before reading your last and you said the same thing in a better way. :D

I loved the Bane scenes in the finale...but from the dialogue it feels like there was something missing or got cut.

I can't help but wonder if there was a whole plot line regarding Boba and Jango that got cut or maybe they moved to Mando S3.

This was the literal sequel to the Boba Fett Clone Wars arc, that was cut. In it, the Slave 1 is rebuilt by Hondo, we learn the history of Cad and Jango, and Boba and Jango duel. It's suppose to be where Boba gets the dent in his helmet, and Cad got the plate on his head.

I wish we had gotten a completed version of that in the final season of TCW instead of the arc with the sisters that we got in between the Bad Batch and final arcs. Or even better, if they had just been given enough budget to complete the unfinished episode in addition to the final season that we got.

Cad Bane is one bad mofo my lawd does the dude have such an awesome screen presence. He definitely should have been built up more as the big rival of the season because seeing him and Boba standoff was pretty cool, but we needed way more scenes of them together so we could have had a bigger payoff in the end.

I still really liked the final showdown though and I'm not too mad about him being killed off, but man imagine how much better this show could have been had we been introduced to him in the first episode, and they just slowly built of the dread and the menace of his character throughout the show.

Just one of the better examples of the missed potential of this show IMO.

I know that. I love that unfinished animation to death.

I guess what I was trying to say that from some of the flashback earlier in the show to Kamino and Geonosis it felt like they were going to talk more about Boba and Jango but they never really did.

I could see them going back to it in Mando S3 because with Jango' being a Mando.

It did feel like there was some subplot about Jango or Geonosis or Boba coming to some realization or turning point was left out.

You cant tell all the money went into the Rancor scenes and honestly im glad
