Christopher Meloni Eyed for Major Role

i also hope that they somethign different with the character.it would be great if he is a made up character. that way they have freedom to writte him for that specific story.

i hope also that he is not locking up Zod. i think Zod is to strong and to smart to be in a ''prison''. and please no kryptonite. i dont want that humans know about Superman's weakness. i never liked how in S:TM he tellls Lois everything.

Someone mentioned this elsewhere, but what's the chance of him being General Slade Wilson? I mean, I know that Slade isn't really a part of Superman's main rogues, but who knows? I mean SV brought him in as a villain for their version of Clark.

Given that Clark will most likely not have a talking head and a database telling him everything that he needs to know, I'm assuming that Clark will have no idea either on what his weaknesses are.

That would be worse than Sam Lane

Perhaps, but we are running out of potential generals for him to fill from the DC universe.lol

I mean I was only thinking about that as a possibility since they had ended up bringing Amanda Waller in GL as well and last i checked, she wasn't a core member of his character universe.

In any case, who knows, maybe he'll just be a made up general; I mean considering on how Nolan is reportedly hiring some pretty good stars for character roles that aren't comic book based characters for TDKR, it would fit the bill.

That would be awesome. Although theres only ONE man for that role:

He didn't tell Lois about kryptonite, just not being able to see through lead.

Honestly, if they do use Sam Lane, I as well hope he's not one of those "lock the aliens up rargh!" generals, and kind of breaks the mold as more of a guy just doing his job or following orders from his higher ups.

I wish they'd portray Generals more realistically in Hollywood movies. General Petraeus, for example, is an incredibly intelligent man.

There's still no excuse for using Sam Lane, who is a rip-off and a mass of the movies biggest cliches.

I don't mind the concept in of itself, but yeah, I don't particularly like Sam Lane, especially the current version, and I don't want a Superman movie dominated by the typical Marvel belief that having superpowers is nothing but a burden and that everyone will hate and fear you.

Well if he is Sam Lane they're gonna have to age him abit

^why lol

meloni is 50 and amy adams could pass off as 32

trying to tell me general sam lane could'nt of conceived a child at 18-20

I personally wouldn't mind to see Sam Lane given that Lois's background has been largely ignored in the movies. L&C , STAS and SV dealt with her background but the films have pretty much ignored it . Yeah, the angry general is cliche but if the story is good and his character actually has a purpose to the plot as opposed to fan service , i'm ok with it.

Well, to be fair, there would be some people that would want Superman to get locked up because of how powerful he is. Doesn't matter how good he is, if a man can bench press a mountain, he is a liability.

The problem with Marvel is that they take the hysteria too far. Yes, some people would fear ultra powerful beings. The quaint Silver Age notion that everybody would just love these people and deputize them and set up Bat Signals, that makes no sense. However, it also makes no sense for the world to still hate and fear them after years and years of heroics. That is where DC does it right. Superman earns people's respect. That's what this movie should be about. Superman earning his place in the world.

If anything, they should try to make their own version of Agent Coulson.

To me he looks most like Lex, that is what I immediately thought. Lex. Then I thought maybe John Corben. However, now that we've heard he is a general, you would think it should be Sam Lane or....

General Non! Nooooo!

I immediately thought Lex, too. but, if he's a general, then I guess he could be General Lane.

I would love to see General Lane and General Zod. A comparison some way in their roles against Superman.

Anyone can edit Wiki the same way as IMDB. Don't put too much stock in it; Wiki that is, not the role.
