He's one of the Great Old Ones, and here's a brief description of them...

The Great Old Ones are ancient extraterrestrial beings of immense power, and most are also colossal in size. They are worshiped by deranged human cults, as well as by most of the non-human races of the mythos. The Great Old Ones are currently imprisoned—a few beneath the sea, some inside the Earth, and still others in distant planetary systems and beyond. 1. They were sequestered by the Elder Gods for using black magic transgressions, or
2. they are sealed off somehow from the rest of the universe of their own volition.[2]

According to the first theory, the Great Old Ones were once related to the Elder Gods. When they committed some unknown blasphemy, they were cast out and imprisoned in various places in the universe. The Great Old Ones impatiently await the time of their release, eager to seek retribution against their jailors.

Think about the Ogdru Jahad in Hellboy, Cthulhu is kind of like that

If this turns out to be what its about this will be pretty damn good IMO. With this budget and amount of time in shooting I really doubt this could be it.

I know the budget is what keeps me from getting my hopes up this is a Lovecraft Old Ones film.

Im reading some stuff about him on Wiki....seems like a REAL interesting writer(Lovecraft). Seems to be very influential, Stephen King being one who says he was a primary inspiration. Also read how Arkham Asylum was taken from Lovecraft book as well.

Is it the anniversary of anything? A date that was mentioned in any prophecy? Anything that might give us a clue?


And I agree with the poster from a page ago or so who asked why we're assuming is an adaption/remake of anything at all. Could this not be a completely new franchise/story?


Besides, that Cthulhu thing looks nothing like a Lion.
