I think people are freaking out because they didn't show the title of the movie. That's all. Otherwise, this would look like the lamest movie ever.

Instead of "That Cloverfield looks gay!! LOL!11"....we're getting, "That movie doesn't have a title! Cool! LOL!11"

It's not a Michael Mann style digital camera, it's a handheld camera, much more like Blair Witch Project
They're trying to be funny because that's what anyone does when you're at a party and someone whips out a camera, you freeze for a second, then try and make people laugh.
There's more to it than the lights going out and the explosion, just the panic in the air being almost palpable when they go down on the streets and the "It's huge! It's alive!" is enough to get my interested in (I love giant monsters movies).

So no, I dont think it's because it doesnt have a title, and you're obviously one of those people who hates anything popular, regardless of how little is out from it. If this movie comes out and sucks, I'll admit you were right. But chances are, if it comes out and is great, you'll still be saying how gay it is because "That's the movie with no title! LOL!"

Well it has a no-name director with no-name actors and is MAYBE being filmed in a Blair Witch style.

I respect that.

However, whenever I see a movie hyped this much, at this level.... the bar is set so high, it usually doesn't deliver. It kind of reminds me of one of those "Day After Tomorrow", "End of Days" kind of things, where the campaign is more entertaining than the movie itself.

Even the early "Godzilla" campaign back in 1997, when all we saw was a giant lizard foot stepping down. It was so mysterious and kept-under-wraps, that when we finally saw it, it was a major let-down, because our brains came up with better things than what we finally saw on the screen.

The marketing campaign is so mysterious, and so well-done.... the trailer ends up being better than the movie. I've seen this a million times, and so have you.

I call "suck".

I think JJ Abrams has delivered perhaps the best marketing strategy ever.

I saw Transformers on Friday with my swim team and the next morning at the team's meet, no one talked about TF, only about this movie. Speculation kept people hooked (Godzilla was a big theory).

But, honestly, reading through the "Ethan was right/wrong" blogs are creepy and so interesting, yet I can't stop reading. I am hooked...almost to the point where I think revealing the monster would ruin the film's appeal.

well they say that some of the writings in both websites relate to the writings of H.P.Lovecraft who created the chtulu and i think there are other things that might connect them. I dont know.

If you go to 1-18-08.com, you see the two pictures. Look at the picture of the two girls. The date is 1/18/08 and the time is 12:36.

Now, someone looked up 12:36 in the Bible and searched between lines 1 and 18 and there is a paragraph about basically the devil. (Talks about life and death, etc.)

Now, if you look closely at the picture of the girls, you may be able to see a picture of a devilsh figure in teh center.

Okay i looked at the picture of the two girls just to see if i can see anything, well i thought i did and i want to know what you guys think i could just be wanting to see it and thats but whatever.
It looks like a face but more like a drawn face to me heres the parts i can point out.

II.- Nose
III.- Forehead/Eyebrow line
IV.- Back of head
V.- Eye
