As much as I love this film, I think they failed at making this "America's" monster.
how did they fail? if they make a Cloverfield 2 then Clover will become the American monster for sure.

If they're too lazy to put it in the film, that's their fault.

No, it had nothing to do with the story being told. Would some scientist randomly popping in and going "Ah, you see, this creature was living in the bottom of the ocean in a state of hybernation when a combination of Tagruato corps. sattelite falling and offshore digging woke it up," have made the movie better for you? No, it wouldnt have. It would have been out of place and ******ed.

i really hope not.
godzilla had character and charisma. besides king kong in America's monster.
clover is just a flash in the pan

King Kong doesnt hold a candle to Godzilla or Cloverfield. He was only two stories tall, and got killed cause he fell in love...what a puss.

the problem I had with that was that the monster was a lot more interesting than that group of *******s.
I was just waiting for them to die.

I agree the monster was interesting. but they did well with the characters.

Clover is very similar to Godzilla in the first movie. In fact, I think by the 60's Godzilla was pretty much a joke, with his stupid "defender of Japan" thing. Luckily, in the 80's, they went back to basics...but it got twisted all around back to that same Godzilla as a super hero thing in time...Godzilla, in his purest, most ass kicking form, is better than Clover. But Clover would destroy Godzilla from the 60's, most likely while he was teaching Godzooky to be a ****** on ******ed monster island, home of the ****** monsters.

Charisma? The hell... was it the way he breathed fire??
Godzilla had personality. Just watch some of the old movies. Godzilla vs Megalon, or Godzilla vs monster zero. For a five foot guy in a heavy rubber suit there was a fair amount of expression and range there. Even the first Godzilla movie and its direct sequel 1985, showed anger pain and at times confusion. For all its expensive CG clover was just kind of there. Jackson's king kong had a whole range of emotions.
so yeah zilla and kong have a lot more charisma than a giant louse

I agrre KK does not even fall into being called a giant Monster. He is only the size of a large house. He can never be The US's monster.

i think you two might be a little to size obsessed.

say all you want but you can't have a giant movie monster with out it being a Giant.:cwink:

in that picture he looks to be the size of Clover's foot.

Yeah, he does look too small to be considered a big threat to Clover. This would be the movie:

KONG: *roars*

*Clover steps on Kong*

*waah-waah-waah-waaaaaaaaaah*

THE END

yep that would be the movie. Clover steps on Kong The End.

To say Cloverfield is "America's monster" is a bit naive and premature. Kong is America's monster simply because he is ingrained in American popculture. It is ridiculously optimistic at this point to assume Clover will ever reach the level Kong has.
