It's kinda like saying Alex Ross is a bad artist, because his women look like men.

^ good one :funny: wait, you were being serious?

I think his WW tends to look butch at times.

I'm just saying, because an artist has a particular weakness, doesn't make them any less talented in the fields they excel at.

Nah. Only when their overall weaknesses outweigh their strengths. Somebody's not necessarily a bad actor b/c they can't cry on command, or a bad singer b/c they can't hit the high note on "Loving You"-which NOBODY can do. So I get what you're saying there.

but.. but.. I'm lost.. is someone defending Liefeld, McFarlane or both?

for the record, I think McFarlane can't draw s**t.

it's not like I don't..

and I'm gonna keep posting his *art* here..

McFarlane is alright IMO. It's all a matter of taste really. He isn't like Liefeld where he has no clue about proportions and his feet aren't as bad as Liefelds patented "***** feet".

And you gotta admit, he draws some cool looking webs.

to me, McFarlane is right behind Liefeld.. almost biting his backwards cap

Disparaging John Romita Jr.? This thread has hit rock bottom.

Sure about that?

Well, they aren't misshapen or anything; just tiny.
His webs are cool but he overdoes them, amking criminals look like Spidey-s gonna eat them, & having him hold 10 weblines in each hand, which makes swinging a logistical impossibility, to say nothing of the fact that whenever he finally got wheere he was headed, he'd have no webbing left to fight with.

McFarlane make human beings look like disjointed marionettes

I wouldn't say McFarlane's an especially good artist but he did accomplish something that I HIGHLY appreciate, he's the one I'd credit with giving us a Spider-Man who is SUPERHUMANLY flexible. In the 60's Spidey wasn't shown as particularly flexible, more flexible as he went on, then McFarlane came along and made him INSANE bendable which I think is perfect for the character.
In fact the main problem I have with a number of Spider-man artists since McFarlane is that they didn't keep Spidey looking that flexible.

JR jr's a legend, but World War Hulk was phoned in.

Indeed he is. Just like Ali is a legend, doesn't mean I want to see him still trying to box.

JRJR should've kept his artwork in the 80s

again with the 80s comment--you can edit your own posts, you know

I said some ;)

I've seen a few spread of his from that and some spread of his with Iron Man in it and they're pretty good looking. So long as he doesn't really have to draw faces (like Black Panther, Ironman, Spiderman) he's alright.

Hi, I'm a human face. Have we met?
PAD should've been like, "Stroman? No." And if the editors tried to talk him into it he should've threatened to quit. I would've. It's like a lose-lose situation for everyone when people that bad are penciling for a good comic.

Todd McFarlane is alright at times but his early work looked lousy, he would at times draw people with short arms just to fit into panels and instead of drawing legs on people he would draw the outline of the legs and just do silly cross hatching lines on it.

I just noticed the face of the guy with a cap--it's like a smilie

It's some goofy ass smile with a tounge sticking out.

seriously.

Agreed. Like I've said before, back in the 80s, I hated Todd Mac's art with a passion. It wasn't until he branched out with the Spawn thing that turned me into a fan of his approach. The differences were like night & day...
