Contest of Marvels II Thread 1

Okay ... so now I understand the rules. I am working my way through the threads but I hope somebody can post or pm with how long the vote lasts!:wow:

My original thoughts were based on power's I have now read the debates and ...

Helix -- I think that his adaptive powers would be the deciding factor.
IronMan -- If Pierce's head got knocked off by somebody with less power than Tony ... then Tony takes it.
Mastermind -- His illusions tricked Jean enough to have her slay Scott ... he can make Sasquatch do anything ... and then win.

Magnus -- I see why the debates are important. :yay: I read both and my original vote is still the same. If he can trap Sunfire inside the building ... he can win.

Hopefully I have not gone on too long with the explanations. Thanks all for including me! Very cool idea.

Helix - I like Helix a lot, but it pains me to vote against Strong Guy
Iron Man
Mastermind
Sunfire (Famine)

Final Results:

Helix beat Strong Guy 11-3
Iron Man beat Donald Pierce 14-0
Mastermind beat Sasquatch 9-5
Magnus beat Sunfire 11-3

Magnus-I thnk he wil instantly shield himslef form Sunfire for fear of getting burned. Even though he won't know about the famine stare thing, it would still protect him from it and he would eventually be able to trap Sunfire in an orb.

Now that I can reply, I hope no one let this response sway their vote. The Famine effect is triggered by light, even if you can't see it, and even through solid things (as Gambit had felt the effects of it while blind and inside the mansion). Even if Magnus shielded himself, he'd still be hit by the effect and would have been severely distracted. This reason simply wasn't legit.

Man, I wish I could have said that in the voting process in case others took it to heart. Oh well, them's the rules.

LOCATION: THE NEGATIVE ZONE

The Negative Zone is a fictional alternate universe or dimension in Marvel Comics that contains antimatter.

History

The Negative Zone is a fictional dimension in the Marvel Comics Universe. Essentially, it is a universe parallel to Earth's. The two have many similarities, but a few noteworthy differences include: all matter in the Negative Zone is negatively charged; the Negative Zone is entirely filled with a pressurized, breathable atmosphere; and near the center of the Negative Zone is a deadly vortex of unspeakable power. Since the Negative Zone is largely uninhabited, several would-be conquerors have attempted to bridge the gap to Earth and take over its population. A few notable residents of the Negative Zone include Blastaar, Annihilus and Stygorr.

Match 3:

Gladiator II (ICEMAN/PSYLOCKE) bio

vs.

Halloween Jack (AHURA MAZDA) bio

This is a battle with a Human with martial arts training and a super powerred being from the future.

First of a run down of their powers:

Gladiator
Gladiator has no superhuman abilities. However, he is a superb martial arts fighter and very powerful.

Halloween Jack
Originally human, but due to experimentation Halloween Jack was given the ability to shapeshift into anything he understands (such as humans or animals) and he can also absorb the powers and memories of things he touches by absorbing their genetic material through his skin. Because of this DNA absorption he is able to use the powers of anyone previously absorbed in the past.

He is a different version of Loki with extensive shape shifting powers and power absorption. Also, he remembers and can reproduce all the powers he has stolen before. He is however a bit insane. I would say think of the movie character The Mask and add absorption powers to him. Now Gladiator is a powerful being but he is going up against an insane shape-shifting, power absorbing, magic using god–like being.

Powers he has absorbed in the past include super strength and super speed.

Plus he can just magically appear.

Prep Time

This will help neither really as HJ is from the future therefore unknown to Gladiator's timeline and Gladiator is too ibscure to be known to HJ.

The negative zone also would neither hurt or help either character.

The battle between the two could be very simple....HJ can track Gladiator while being totally undetectable to him....then transport himself either using super speed or magically appearing and bite his head off in the form of a dinosaur or plunge a knife in him in the form of a pirate. :)

Winner - Halloween Jack

But if the effects were so powerful, wouldn't the X-Men have been easily defeated in the last Apocalypse arc? ky's comment didn't sway my vote. I read each the debates, and they were awesome, but in the end, I believe thet Magnus would win. Sucks too, cause I really like Sunfire also :(

Match 4:

Stacey X (JEWISHHOBBIT) bio

vs.

Sunfire - Exiles (HELLSTORMER) bio

This could be a really easy match. Sunfire swings for the other teams so Stacy's pheremones and erotic nature might effect here a little. I'm fairly certain Sunfire will take to the skies and rain fiery hell down on Stacy not even giving her a chance to use the pheremones or show off her fighting skills.

Winner=Sunfire

(Above, you'll find three bios on this location. I figure we'll go with the world most know, Arthos. That is where Annihilus is from. As the inhabitants of these worlds would probably get into a fight with the characters, we'll say the location is uninhabited.)

Adam Warlock vs Radioactive Man

Prep-time won't matter here. Neither will find information on the other. So they'll essentially be going into the battle blind.

Once in the battle, Radioactive Man is going to find himself outclassed. Adam has extensive combat experience. And he can fly at supersonic speed, meaning he can hit Lu before he has a chance to counter.

Lu can make a forcefield, and may enter the fight with it up. But Adam has the physical and energy powers to take on Thanos. Lu's forcefield won't last long.

And Lu's attacks will be ineffective against Adam. Warlock wields cosmic power and can manipulate energy. Anything Radioactive Man sends at him, Adam can redirect, absorb, or turn back against Lu.

And there's the Soul Gem. If Adam is allowed to use it, he could just take mental control of Lu. Or even trap him in the Gem if necessary. But even without the Soul Gem, Adam has enough power to take Radioactive Man out of the fight.

Adam Warlock wins

Stacy X Vs Sunfire

OKay, so this is a tough one to win. I think it really depends on who gets the first shot in. Stacy isn't fireproot, so if Sunfire blasts her, she's done... then again, if Stacy touches Sunfire, then she'll go all orgasmic and be taken out of the match (as with Iceman, Blob, and Vanisher in the X-Men comics). Stacy is agile and knows to hide. With prep-time she wouldn't know about Sunfire, but her ties with the X-Men should tell her of another Sunfire, based on fire, and she can put two and two together.

I think Stacy's chance lies in her quickness and in Sunfire's being a hero. Sunfire isn't one to just go in and kill, so she won't go all atomic on Stacy. In fact, I can see her landing and talking to Stacy first, wondering what's going on and if this was some type of Exiles-like thing like she's used to. I realy don't see her just going all postal on sight.

If Stacy can get close to Sunfire in a talk, she can put her arm around Sunfire or extend a hand to be shaken, and boom.... Sunfire's out on the ground making all the male viewers happy with a mental image of her in constant orgasm (I feel so dirty when I'm discussing Stacy, but it's what she is).

If Sunfire comes on all Armageddon like, then she has this in the bag, but that just isn't her way. I think it's more than likely that she'll try to talk with Stacy, and Stacy will be agile or wordy enough to at least get in to touch her (it just takes a little tap anywhere on the body). If she can, then she wins.

Winner - Stacy X

But Sunfire isn't a rabid dog. She isn't one to just come in and go all nuclear on whoever she sees. She'll try to figure out what's going on and will land near Stacy. I don't think they'd be all buddy buddy but I can see her going the talking route before the burn in hell route. If she does this, then chances are that Stacy will get close enough to take her out. Her agility and experience (Her time and training with the X-Men and the obvious previous training since she's already highly skilled when she joins them) should be enough to get her in close. And when she does, Sunfire's going down in a blaze of.... horniness.

Actually she might just flatout say its 616 Sunfire. Do you feel the irony in this battle considering our last one? It'd be funnier if you had Magneto.

But since she's unfamilier with Stacy she'll probaly keep a distance to avoid seeing what Stacy can do.

I tihnk Mariko's smart enough to figure somethings up when her opponent keeps trying to touch her.

You just what a visual of a Stacy/Mariko sex spree don't you?

I honestly don't have much to rebute. This is just one of those matches where it depends on if the voter believes Stacy can get in close before Sunfire fries her. I agree that Sunfire will be hesitant, but Stacy is agile and might be able to get close, or surprise her, etc. I think it's really up to the voters. Just not much to go off of in this match.

Deathlok vs Jack of Hearts

Ok. this is going to be a tough match but one I think deatlok can win.

Let's go over their respective powers

Deathlok:

Michael Collins' cyborg body grants him the same powers, only with much greater strength, speed, and resistance to injury. His body can also target (nearly infallibly) multiple objects and track them. He could scan the entire electromagnetic spectrum, as well as enter computer systems.
The Michael Collins Deathlok has learned to use internal nanobots to repair and alter both his organic and inorganic parts, enabling him to appear as either a humanoid cyborg, or completely human.
The Michael Collins Deathlok also has a very sophisticated A.I., capable of quickly making complex strategies and evaluating their chance of success. If requested, the A.I. can take control of the body to perform these operations.

Jack of hearts:
  • Concussive blasts,
  • Flight,
  • Ability to survive unaided in space
Jack is undoubtedly very powerful but deathlok's ability to track multiple opponents with pinpoint accuracy means despite jacks flight he could easily hit him. Deathlok has access to some serious firepower and while jack can resist small calibre arms to a certain extent the guns deathlok will be bringing are far more powerful, certianly enough to ground Jack long enough to get in close and knock him out. Both have regenerative capabilites although I'm fairly certain deathlok's is mopre effective. Would need a citing on this from JH. Finally jack's blasts are powerful against flesh and blood but deathlok is much more durable than that being a cyborg.

As a final note Deathlok has been known to simply let the cyborg portion of his brain take over in a fight allowing him to calculate all possible strategies and actions in micro-seconds, meaning anything jack throws at him he can dodge and counter before jack even knows what's happened.

WINNER: DEATHLOK!

Adam Warlock Vs radioactive man

I love radioactive man but everthing he can throw out can be absorbed by warlock. I can't win this one so I'm going to have to conced this match :(

WINNER: ADAM WARLOCK :cmad:

And now my vengeance over Thunderbird is complete. :D

But I would have lost Thunderbird anyway. :(

...yep not really much to debate IMO opinion. Sunfire is gonna take the defensive and eventually win considering how much greater her powers are.

Jack of Hearts vs. Deathlok:

Jack's Bio:

Jack of Hearts possesses the ability to project concussive energy from his body. This energy, a by-product of the cellular mutation caused by contact with the experimental Zero Fluid, is generated in some as yet unknown way by the cells of Jack's body and can be directed in controlled amounts by conscious thought. Zero energy, as it has been called, is constantly being generated by his body and is emitted in negligible quantities whenever his cells reach their saturation point. Consciously directing the flow of energy (usually through his hands), Jack of Hearts can create a shock wave, the current maximum force of which is unknown. The energy discharge is accompanied by a pink colored light phenomenon.

Jack of Hearts' entire metabolism has been transformed by the Zero Fluid's mutagenic effect on him. Not only does he require less oxygen, but he is physically stronger and more resistant to injury. Jack of Hearts can easily withstand small-caliber firearms. Further, if he is injured, his rate of healing is over twice that of an average, healthy human's.
Now that Jack of Hearts' powers have increased exponentially, it is difficult to gauge what his current abilities and overall power level is.

Deathlok:

Luther Manning's mechanical, cybernetic physiology granted him several superhuman powers including superhuman strength, stamina, agility, reflexes, and a computer augmented brain.

This is a very good match-up. Both characters could probably gain an abundance of information on each other and both wouldn't want to go for a kill-shot in order to win this match.

I think this will basically be a last man standihg type match, where the first one to fall (without being killed) will end up being the victor. That advantage, in my opinion (of course), goes to Jack. He's gone toe-to-toe with the Incredible Hulk, withstanding his massive blows, and actually coming out the last person standing. For Deathlok, he can regenerate himself, but he must be able to have time to do it. It will be a knock-down, dragged-out battle; but, if Jack can withstand numerous punches from The Hulk, I'm betting he can withstand what Deathlok throws at him. Also, having the power of flight at his disposal, Jack of Hearts can more easily stay out of range of Deathlok than the other way around.

Finally, another bio of Jack explains some things a bit better.

He was also capable of absorbing energy from other sources. He possessed superhuman levels of healing and endurance and could survive unprotected in space. Although he only had normal intelligence, his thinking capacity was enhanced by a scanning device which gave his thought processes the speed and efficiency of a highly advanced computer. Jack also had superhuman strength. Abilities Jack is a trained S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, the extent of which is unknown.

It shows that Jack is trained by S.H.I.E.L.D. and has the thought processes of a "highly advanced computer." Plus, his ability to absorb other forms of energy might make some possibly weapon choices of Deathlok null and mute.

Winner = Jack Of Hearts

What my problem with this is the information provided by Marvel Directory. It is my belief that they really make Jack seem much more subpar than what he actually is. (To me, being able to withstand full-on impact hits from The Hulk speaks volumes beyond what they tell about him. And, that's even way back in the 70's.) Plus, as I point out, Deathlok will not be trying to kill Jack. So, a most powerful weapon probably won't be used. Finally, Deathlok has to be able to hit Jack. Jack has advanced speed beyond that of most of Marvel heroes. He peaks out on the 1-7 scale in the Avengers 2004 Handbook, in fact, at a 7. (I just wished they provided more information. The extra bio I provided above is what they say about Jack in that book.) So, saying someone with flight and a "7" speed in superhero range of 1-7 can be "easily hit," I disagree.

Both have regenerative capabilites although I'm fairly certain deathlok's is mopre effective. Would need a citing on this from JH. Finally jack's blasts are powerful against flesh and blood but deathlok is much more durable than that being a cyborg.

I've read quite a few of Deathlok's appearances, and when Deathlok is taking hits, he cannot simply regenerate while continually being attacked. He asks his A.I. what percentage they are at, and to regenerate, he always seems to need time to rest. He won't have that ability in this fight.

Also, Jack of Hearts power has been known to destroy an entire starship with his power AND regenerate a dying sun. I think if he needed to, being a cyborg isn't too durable for the full extent of his powers. Just read his biography again to see some of the stuff he's done or been forced to do against his will.

As a final note Deathlok has been known to simply let the cyborg portion of his brain take over in a fight allowing him to calculate all possible strategies and actions in micro-seconds, meaning anything jack throws at him he can dodge and counter before jack even knows what's happened.

What sucks for Deathlok in this match is his greatest advantage, being able to strategize with the speed of a computer is the exact same ability Jack has. So, that ability you speak of is rather negated in this match.

Winner = Jack Of Hearts
