Contest of Marvels II Thread 2

ah, I just noticed I got rebutted. Anyway, I don't think the need for a rebuttal is necessary. Everything I believe is already in all my previous arguments. The problem lies in the fact that too little is known about Gamesmaster.

I just noticed a possible problem, and if you want I can get an additional ruling from Wiegeabo concerning this point (JH cannot give a ruling, as it's his match); one of the rules is that after a match, the winning contestant cannot take anything from the other contestant. Since the Rematch is partially being debated that Mr. Sinister could possibly got a bit of Scarlet Spider's DNA, this would be questionable. The only thing people can take away is a memory of the previous battle if there is a rematch.

*Spiral - (I think Wiegeabo is wise to go with Spiral. Too many unknowns about Armagedon, and I'm positive he'll be dropped from consideration the next time we have another season of CoM. Still....he might have gone all the way, and I just can't see Spiral doing that.)

*Wallflower - (With the pheremone argument, I think Man-Wolf would be greatly influenced. Plus, he wouldn't know what to expect...that could very well change in the next round.)

*Alex Powers - (Good choice by Harlekin; although, who would have guessed that Mr. Hyde would make it this far in the contest. Possibly the biggest surprise of the season. Great job, Harlekin, of defending him against some worthy opponents.)

*Super Skrull

*Mr. Sinister

Just so you know, I wanted to make sure there was an agreement to what I was thinking. From Wiegeabo:

I'd have to agree. The only thing you can take with you is information. If Sinister had somehow sequenced and memorized Ben's DNA, I guess that would be ok.

But taking a piece of Ben with him to the next prep-time, I don't think so.

(Hope you don't mind my posting your response, Wieg. Just wanted to give clarification that the verdict was mutual, in case it was a decider in people's votes.)

Spiral
Man-Wolf
Alex Powers (I don't see Hyde getting passed the next round)
Gamesmaster (damn tough debates)
Scarlet Spider (once again, I can't believe I'm voting against Sinister. Great debates on both sides made this the toughest match)

I still haven't decided. At first, I thought how Mr. Sinister benefitted more from a rematch...but, Ben is Peter and does know science and would also benefit. Dang it!

Spiral
Wallflower -
Not knowing of her powers is Star-God's downfall.
Alex Power
Super Skrull -
I was almost swayed by JH's debate, but I think the location is a bit of a disadvantage to Gamesmaster. Good match though.
Mr. Sinister - The advantage of the re-match is just too great, I think. Great debate though.

Armageddon
Wallflower- How awesome is this pairing? Seriously, I love the fact that she got an enemy she could actually take.
Alex Powers
Super Skrull
Scarlet Spider

Spiral
Wallflower - Pheremones would do the trick
Alex Powers
Super Skrull - gamesmaster would take a bit of time to be able to take over SS's mind and therefore I think SS would kill him before.
Mr. Sinister

Final Results:

Spiral defeats Armagedon-Exiles 7-1
Wallflower defeats Man-Wolf 6-2
Alex Powers defeats Mr. Hyde 8-0
Super Skrull defeats Gamesmaster 5-3
Mr. Sinister defeats Scarlet Spider 5-3

Location: AVALON

Avalon was a fictional space station inhabited by the Acolytes, a cult devoted to Magneto and his views on human-mutant relations. It first appeared in the Fatal Attractions storyline in Marvel Comics's X-Men books.
Avalon was originally named Greymalkin, and was the property of Cable. An interesting part of Greymalkin's construction was its Professor, not to be confused with Professor X. Greymalkin faked its destruction when S.H.I.E.L.D. tried to take it over, dumping parts in the ocean and in X-force's base, but the remaining parts, including its core remained, now using cloaking to hide itself.
Magneto discovered the abandoned space-station, deactivated the Professor and used Shi'ar technology to expand it, turning it into his new base and sending out his new servant Exodus to bring worthy mutants to it. His first choice were several members of X-force, who had been students of Magneto when they were part of the New Mutants. X-force leader, Cable, followed them and managed to disable Avalon's teleportation system and copy the Professor from the core of the station into his own techno-organic bodyparts. Cable and his team escaped, but former New Mutants Rusty Collins and Skids remained on Avalon with Magneto.
Shortly afterwards, Magneto sent Exodus to bring his followers, the Acolytes, to Avalon as well. He declared that Avalon would be a safe heaven for all mutants, away from humanity. The X-Men battled Magneto and he was put into a coma. Exodus took over the leadership of the Acolytes and Avalon. The Acolyte Milan repaired the teleportation systems of Avalon.
Avalon was destroyed by a battle between Holocaust and Exodus. Exodus tried to gather the pieces of Avalon to rebuilt it shortly afterwards, but halted his plans when Joseph turned up, thinking that Joseph was Magneto. Pieces of Avalon and Greymalkin were later gathered by Cable to build the island of Providence, his current base of operations.
Avalon is also shown and is a level on the SNES Game X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse and on the Sega Genesis game X-Men 2: Clone Wars. In Magneto's ending in Marvel Super Heroes, he uses the Infinity Gauntlet to create a new Avalon, an entire moon to serve as a homeworld for Mutantkind.

Mr. Sinister (AHURA MAZDA) bio

This would be a battle of epic proportions. I will forego on all the numerous powers of Sinister given I have written them just in the page before.

Belasco is obviously a very powerful magic user.

Now the major advantage lies with Sinister who can possibly find out about Belasco and more importantly will know Avalon quite well. Especially given the relationship he had with Apocolypse who did spend some time there.

He knows that a one to one battle against Belasco would be very iffy so he will be going through victory through other mean. For one, Sinister will go directly for the Avalon control center and then will attempt using the technology to throw Belasco out in space which will mean a ring out. Sinister's intelligenec in incredible and as such he will figure out a way in what is a spaceship.

Winner - Sinister

Match 3:

Pluto (AHURA MAZDA) bio

vs.

Lord Templar (PRIMEMOVER) bio

th_lordte1.gif

This is definitely an interesting match up between 2 heavyweights.

This was a rating of Pluto's powers

Intelligence: Normal (4/10)
Strength: Superhuman Class 75 (9/12)
Speed: Superhuman (6/10)
Stamina: Godlike (9/10)
Durability: Demi-godlike regenerative (12/14)
Agility: Superhuman (6/7)
Reflexes: Superhuman (6/7)
Fighting Skills: Excellent hand-to-hand combatant, skilled in use of axe and sword
Special Skills/Abilities: None known
Superhuman physical powers: In addition to the above listed physical abilities, Pluto possesses virtual immortality; the ability to manipulate vast cosmic/mystical energies for numerous purposes including powerful force bolts, creating nearly impenetrable force fields, creating interdimensional apertures to transport himself across dimension, creating mystical flame (to which he is himself immune) or weapons of mystical flame; he can also weaken an opponent with his touch
Superhuman Mental Powers: none
Special Limitations: Pluto is more powerful in Hades than in other realms, due to his ability to manipulate the energies of the underworld
Source of Superhuman Powers: Pluto is a member of the race of superhumans known as the gods of Olympus
Personal Weaponry: Battleaxe made of nearly indestructible adamantine through which he can focus his force bolts if he so chooses
Other Accessories: Can create various weapons as needed out of mystical flame, such as a spear or sword, whose touch can paralyze an opponent, Helmet of invisibility, enabling its wearer to be invisible to even other Olympians

Lord templar is a power villain but was defeated by Triathlon so therfore is not as undefeatable as many may think.

Here he will be facing a God, and not any God, the God of death.

Prep time will not help Templar at all.

Pluto will come in the battle wearing his magical hemet of invisibilty (built by the Cyclops in mythological times) and will be completely undetectable to Templar. He will first touch Templar and as such will weaken him greatly and then with superhuman speed of which Templar has none will use his adamantium axe on him.

Also note, that Pluto can match any of templar's avatars and is notable superiour to all of them. He is class 75, has a magical helmet, is invulnerable, can regenerate at immense speed and has thousands of years of experience.

Winner - Pluto

Belasco vs. Mr. Sinister:

First, the bios:

Belasco:

Belasco is one of the most powerful sorcerers on Earth and possesses a wide knowledge of spells, allowing him to shoot mystical rays, control the minds of humans and animals, and transform himself and others, among other things.

He was also endowed by the Elder Gods with immortality and apparent invulnerability. The exception to this is his own sword, which was forged by the Elder Gods themselves. It was this which cut off his right arm under unrevealed circumstances.

He has also come to possess a wide knowledge of the advanced technology left by the Atlanteans in Pangea.

Plus, the following as more explanation:

Belasco is one of the most powerful of all Earthborn sorcerors. Among other feats, he can hurl bolts of mystical force, mesmerize victims, transform people into animals, and raise the dead under certain circumstances. His long studies of the black arts have given him an encyclopedic knowledge of spells that he can use.

Belasco is also immortal, and apparently invulnerable as well. Possibly the only means of killing him outright is his own sword.

Mr. Sinister:

Mr. Sinister is no b-rate villain. He is a very powerful superhuman being who is a genius. His powers are as follows:

Shape Shifting - Sinister has total control over his body's cellular structure, allowing him to peform limited shapeshiftng. He can assume the form of any one he wishes, and once reduced himself into a semi-liquid state.

Superhuman Strength - At times, he has demonstrated superhuman strength.

Resistance / Regenration - He has frequently shown a remarkable resistance to injury and excellent regenerative abilities—he has survived having a large hole shot through his head, and apparently survived having the flesh blasted off his bones at the climax of the Inferno story arc.

Telepath - He has also demonstrated reasonably strong telepathic powers in the past, including the ability to mentally paralyze a foe he’s touching, erasing the memories of Jean Grey at the end of the Inferno arc, and being able to withstand a psychic assault from Psylocke, a high-level telepath.

Telekinetic - He has also exhibited some minor telekinetic abilities, such as mentally moving objects and firing blasts of concussive force from his hands or from the diamond-shaped scarlet mark on his forehead. He was believed to possess the power of teleportation, but it was revealed this was not an innate ability, but a function of his tesseract headquarters, which was far bigger on the inside than on the outside (like the TARDIS from the television series Doctor Who).

Genius - Sinister is a genius and a geneticist of the highest order, able to predict genetic mutations and splice DNA. (Originally, he was genetically altered by Apocalypse, since then, it is quite probable that his other abilities are the result of self-experimentation—his shapeshiftng power is due to a procedure he performed on himself with help from a time-traveling Gambit.) He possesses a good deal of knowledge in psychology, and is a skilled manipulator.

The interesting aspect is since both are X-Men villians, it's likely they'd both find out information on each other...maybe not real extensive, though. But, Sinister has been around for quite some time, and Belasco would have many who've died and come into contact with Sinister to delve information from. Plus, Belasco's sorcery powers would be able to find information, as necessary.

Mr. Sinister is one tough opponent; but, Belasco is immortal and able to produce spells the instant he's aboard the Avalon. Simple spells as finding Sinister, even if he chooses to change shape, would prove effective. (Plus, Sinister is much more effective behind the scenes, where others don't know what he's up to.) Belasco is also a telepath; so, like powers would probably be ineffective for both characters. Belasco took out a host of X-Men in the past. Sinister won't prove a problem. Magic will beat out the science of Sinister.

Winner = Belasco

Belasco is obviously a very powerful magic user.

Now the major advantage lies with Sinister who can possibly find out about Belasco and more importantly will know Avalon quite well. Especially given the relationship he had with Apocolypse who did spend some time there.

He's worked with Apocalypse in the past; but, that relationship isn't exactly buddy/buddy. Apocalypse knows not to trust Mr. Sinister, and he wouldn't divulge such important information to someone who'd be very willing to turn it around on him. There is absolutely no source that shows Mr. Sinister would know about Avalon.

I just ask the readers to look at Sinister's and Apocalypse's history. Neither trusted the other, and Sinister had no storylines involving Avalon. So, I doubt he would be able to use Avalon to his advantage. Plus, Belasco needs to do a "find spell" on Sinister when he's transported aboard the space station, and it won't be long to take out Sinister's threat.
