Contest of Marvels II Thread 4

Results So Far:

X-23 currently beating Silhouette 10-1
Mesmero currently beating US Agent 10-1
Damask currently beating Karma 8-3
Fixer currently beating Firebird 10-1

X-23 - I'm a rare fan of X-23 but she doesn't need any bias to win this
Mesmero
Karma
Fixer - I changed my mind with the second debate

Silhouette can also teleport to a limit extent (although she finds it something of a strain (remeber she is a mutate not a mutant. Her powers are not on the same level as say nightcrawler or cloak (even though cloak's technically a mutate too(way to many brackets in this sentence...)))
I almost voted the other way after seeing this sentence. Unclosed brackets (only 3 of the 4 were closed) bug me. :cmad:

Final Results:

X-23 beat Silhouette 15-1
Mesmero beat US Agent 15-1
Damask beat Karma 10-6
Fixer beat Firebird 14-2

The Damask defeat was really to be expected, but I'm glad I still got 6 votes. Well done Phere. I'm really glad Mesmero won though, and you debated quite fiercly Hellstormer, kudos to you.

called someone a dick for spoiling annihilition #4 which apparently pissed morg off. Although I wasn't there so...

I've noticed all the Annihilation #4 stuff going on around The Hype, and figured it was best to just avoid any reading until I get to that comic. I guess I better read it soon.

And, people that spoil stuff without spoiler tags or waiting an appropriate number of days are *****.

And, power-tripping Mods are too!!!

Location:

While the dimension of Otherworld is also known as Avalon, the island of Avalon is actually only a small part of the large dimension that is Otherworld. Other places within this dimension include Fomor, home of the Fomorians, Annwn, home of the dead, and many other locales associated with Celtic mythology. The Starlight Citadel is home of Roma and the base of the Captain Britain Corps.
In general, Otherworld is a High fantasy world; gods, elves, dragons and many more live within small towns and large castles with no heavy industry. Large forests and bright lakes separate the several islands and locations from one another. Otherworld is not primitive though, while sorcery and magic is a part of daily life, the Captain Britain Corps and Avalon possess highly advanced technology.

History

In ancient times, there were many ways to travel from Earth to Avalon and back, created by powerful men known as the Twelve Walkers. Six of the Twelve Walkers became corrupt and created false paths that would lead travellers to dangerous places or insanity. The actions of these evil Walkers caused a backlash from the human inhabitants of Earth against all magical creatures and many of these creatures followed the paths to relocate to Otherworld. Most of the paths between Earth and Avalon were destroyed and only a few remain.
After the death of King Arthur, his body was taken to Avalon by Merlyn. Somehow the city of Camelot was also taken to Avalon, including all the Knights of the Round Table.

Merlyn, Roma and the Starlight Citadel

Merlyn created the Starlight Citadel, located on a different island than Avalon. From the Starlight Citadel he founded the Captain Britain Corps, a group of superhuman heroes who would patrol the countless Earths in the Omniverse. Merlyn became the Omniversal Guardian and was assisted in his task by the Omniversal Majestor/Majestrix. His task was to safeguard the Omniverse against any threats and the technology Merlyn provided was capable of destroying entire universes that were a threat. When Mad Jim Jaspers appeared, Merlyn faked his death and was replaced by Roma as Omniversal Guardian. Saturnyne became the Omniversal Majestrix.
Years later, Mastermind conquered the island of the Starlight Citadel, destroyed most of the Captain Britain Corps and disguised himself as Roma. Mastermind wanted the Amulet of Right and the Sword of Might, two mystical artifacts who had once empowered Brian Braddock, also known as Captain Britain and his enemy Joshua Stragg, the Reaver. Braddock found the artifacts before Mastermind and discovered that he was the rightful heir to these artifacts. He used them to defeat Mastermind and Roma named him the new ruler of Otherworld, while she remained as his advisor. Brian recently left his throne after the events in House of M and returned to Earth.

The island of Avalon and the Celtic Gods

On the island of Avalon, home to the Celtic Gods also known as the Tuatha da Danaan, Druids would forge the magical artifact known as the Evil Eye. The Eye was given to Prester John, who travelled back to Earth with it. The Celtic Gods themselves would have an endless war with the Fomorians, who would try to invade Avalon repeatedly. The Celtic Gods would receive assistance from Thor in repelling several invasions.
One of the Celtic Gods, the Lady of the Lake safeguarded Excalibur, King Arthur's sword. She became a close ally of the Black Knight and even gave him Excalibur when he lost his weapon, the Ebony Sword. Years later, the Lady of the Lake gave the Black Knight his new weapons: the Sword of Light and the Shield of Night. In return the Black Knight became her protector. The Black Knight would often travel between Earth and Avalon and seek the Lady of the Lake for advice.

For ease, we'll figure everyone is transported to a different area within Avalon. Since last time we didn't have any inhabitants, this time we will have people within the city.

Mad Thinker vs. Swarm

The man is a well known super-villain. Plus, the Mad Thinker is one of the most brilliant men on the planet. finding out about the man would be no difficult feat. from there, the only hurdle is creating a device to shatter the communication from bee to bee. his body would be come dissasosiated and Swarm would not be a threat to anyone any longer, let alone the Mad Thinker. Creating this device, and a protective garment would not be difficult for one as brilliant as the Mad Thinker.

vs.

Mad Thinker

Just like all three of my matches this week, this one can go either way. Swarms powers are as follows:

Powers Swarm is a composite being of hundreds of thousands of bees driven by a human intelligence. Swarm is technically intangible, as his body is merely an aggregate of tiny forms, and he can fly through the air or assume any shape and size he desires. Swarm can also mentally influence the actions of other bees, the full range of which may extend over hundreds of yards in radius. At first, Swarm seemed capable of only controlling other bees, but he has exhibited the ability to communicate/control other insects as well. Abilities Von Meyer was a brilliant scientist, and his expertise was not lost with his physical death. He often succeeded in mutating bees to gigantic size, and was often seen riding a monstrous queen bee.

Meanwhile, Mad Thinker's abilities lies in his intellect. As it states, "(t)he Mad Thinker has great intellectual and cognitive abilities, as well as vast mechanical genius."

Simply put, Swarm knows that he doesn't want to get put into one of Mad Thinker's traps. The second each of these foes gets transported to Avalon, Swarm is going to know where Mad Thinker is. As you see from Swarm's bio, "Swarm seemed capable of only controlling other bees, but he has exhibited the ability to communicate/control other insects as well." This ability would make him able to pinpoint Mad Thinker's location. Before Mad Thinker could perform his task(s) he has planned, Swarm would simply send some deadly insects to bite him.

Even if Swarm was unable to do this for some strange reason, let's not forget that he's "basically made up of bees, killer bees!...Approximately 220,000 of them...Can shoot "blasts" of bees for attacks. He has mental control of these bees & every other mutant bee around the world. Swarm can fly and is also impervious to bullets." Now, just imagine Swarm being able to locate you instantly, and then having a Swarm of killer bees engulf your body. Mad Thinker has no powers, beside his intellect. He cannot bring a robot into battle, and would simply not have enough time to construct one on the spot with the random tools available before Swarm knows where he is and is on him, like flies on sh#@... or, bees on a big piece of crap.

Winner = Swarm

are you saying the mad thinker can't Preconstruct something, as you said others like Forge were allowed to do, and bring that with him into battle? also the Mad Thinker is going to be smart enough to wear body armor and protect himself from Killer Bees (Not that difficult a task, just wear really, really bulky clothes [joke])

First, I want to point out one great inaccuracy. You state "the Mad Thinker is one of the most brilliant men on the planet." I've looked into a few files on him, and there is no indication that his intelligence is anywhere near that of "most brilliant." I do agree he's very smart...but, your statement seems to imply he's on the level of Tony Stark and Reed Richards, which he clearly isn't.

Second, you claim that the Mad Thinker could make "a protective garment" in battling Swarm. I would point out that he's never used any type of armor or protective garment in any of his fights. And, it would seem if he had the genius for that, he would be able to clash with such intelligent foes, like Iron Man. Mad Thinker is simply being over-hyped. As the following quote shows, he isn't one for direct confrontations: "[The Mad Thinker] generally does not confront his opponents directly so he does not carry many weapons on his person."

So, to paraphrase:

*Mad Thinker is intelligent....but, definitely not one of "the most brilliant men on the planet."

*Mad Thinker doesn't like direct confrontation with his opponents; but, with Swarm's ability to control and communicate with a vast array of insects, a direct confrontation is inevitable.

*Mad Thinker has never used or worn any kind of protective armor in the past. You'd think if he had that ability, he would use it in fighting such foes as The Fantastic Four and The Hulk.

Winner = Swarm

Damn... I'm screwed.

well... well... well... THE MAD THINKER HAS A BIGGER BRAIN THAN YOUR GUYS HAS :P

Mad Thinker can preconstruct something...but, he couldn't preconstruct one of his robots and take it along. To do that, he would have to construct it when he got to the location.

And, you're not screwed. This contest, as I see it, can go either way. I could argue for both sides...like with all three of my matches this week, and see any of the six characters likely winning.
