Sequels Costuming of the X-Men

We all know a mask-less Wolverine and every member of the X-Men wearing black leather suits was due to two reasons. The first was to make the characters seem a bit more grounded and not too flashy. The second reason is because an all black ensemble made for a more unified look amongst members of the X-Men. My question is, in the next installements, do you want more comic accurate, and more colorful costumes for these characters? Or would you rather the unified black leather suits stay with the series?

On and this topic was brought about because I stumbled upon this CG drawing of Famke Jansen as Phoenix but with a far more original comic book look.

See this is fantastic I would be in favor of this:up:

Aren't they and they are doable too.

those are just the ultimate costumes, nothing really great about them.

But they are an example of more individualized black leather costumes I'd much rather go with the originals myself.

i would much rather have liked to see Mystique like that in a black and white costume than naked with scales!

hey werent quite scales, they were prootrusions.

Mystique was by far the worst costumed person in those movies they just wanted an excuse to get her naked.

well they probably figured even though shes a shapeshifter she wouldn't be able to change whatever clothes she had on (and i agree). but starting her off naked and creating the clothes as she changes would be more plausible. the scales are just detail to possibly relate to reptiles, specifically chameleons, and detract people from realizing she is walking around naked for 2 hours.

yeah i agree but when she was kissing wolverine in x2 she was changing from jean/rogue/storm and then back and they did a good job of it!i also think it was just a way of getting her naked on set!

why would rogue be showing so much skin
Because her skin is her weapon. I'd love to have an action scene in which she wins with a "triangle choke" (wrapping your legs around your opponent's neck to choke him/her), her bare legs touching his/her neck and sapping his/her energy intil Rogue KO's him/her. I know it's a lot of skin, but there are ways to make it seem a little more modest: high neckline, kneehigh boots, long gloves. It would still take a little getting used to, but I think it would be worth it to make her a better fighter.

i think Rogue would disagree that her skin is a weapon. She treats it like a prison.

Another example of how cool this could have looked:

Manip | X-Men (TAS/Comics) Poster...

:: A 'poster' featuring the TAS/Comic costumes and the actors from the XMen movies.
:: Inspired by a random, completely unrelated photo.
:: Definitely the most source photos I've used in a single manip, and by far the most digital painting I've added to something with manip'd elements.

first off Wolverine, Angel, and Storm still look bad, and second, we're still looking a stylized photoshop image and doesn't truly represent how those costumes would have looked in real life.

I don't know how good the 90's costumes would look on screen. I would personally love to see the Ultimate (which is basically what we got in the first series) or the Astonishing costumes.

Just as long as they eventually get Psylocke in their, looking like... well Psylocke.

can anyone list all the various costume versions that the x men have had
go to uncannyxmen.net and when you go to the character spotlights you can see all the costumes theyve worn up to about 2005-06. theyve been falling behind for a while. and for whatever reason they have the only X-Man they don't have listed is Wolverine.

Wolverine's history is too long and complicated and he has about 50 costumes

history i understand (though wikipedia is able to do something with it) but as far as costumes go:

1. original Incredible Hulk appearance
2. classic Giant-Size yellow w/ black stripes used for 30 years
3. the 80s brown and orange costume retired by Jim Lee
4. Morrison black leather (and its variations)
5. blue and yellow "Reloaded" costume used until recently
6. and the redesigned Astonishing design by Bianchi

other stuff like his time as a Horseman, his boneclaw and bandana mask days, or AoA costume i hardly count since they were temporary.
