He may've been mentioned, but no one seemed to care either way. When Scott's glasses were found at the Lake, how come Logan didn't IMMEDIATELY show the Professor that he found Scott's glasses?

Why didn't the Professor ask immediately "Was there any sign of Scott?"

Your defense of the movie makes me really question how you can easily say that Scott's death was more emotional than Uncle Bens? Sure, it's a matter of opinion, but in hindsight the way it was handled was horrible and at least the message of Uncle Ben's death is a constant reminder of Peters failure to stop the robber.

The death of Scott would've had a significant impact if he was portrayed as more of a hero/leader than someone who just went off without telling anyone.

It would've been nice to have Logan possibly go back to Alkali Lake to try and track Scott down. In the end yes, he was mentioned, but it definitely seemed like they couldn't give two craps about whether he was alive or dead.

I actually don't think that Scott's death was handled well.

But I still found no emotion in Uncle Ben's death. Maybe Spiderman was original with it way back in the days, but to me it came across as the typical "family members dies to motivate main character to become hero".

It didn't come off as emotional to me, it came off as a plot device, to move the story forward.

I just don't find much emotion in the Spiderman films. To me, it's summer popcorn action. Albiet, WELL DONE summer popcorn action, but just a fun summer superhero story with no real essence.

You may not think that X-Men: The Last Stand had any of this emotion either, and that's cool. I can understand where you're coming from. And I do think that Scott's death was handled poorly, but I also do feel that the movie had more emotion in it than any Spiderman film does. And I understand that I am in a minority with that opinion. But I still hold that opinion, that X-Men at it's worst is still better than Spiderman at it's best.

Anyone who wants to read some fanfic which centers on Scott/Cyclops (All universe, no pairing or any kind of pairing the writers so choose), can try this community on LJ.

Summer(s) Fling

The 'give Scott some loving' season is now open.

The main reason Scott's death bothers me is because most of the characters in X3 didn't show enough concern for his disappearance. Scott is only mentioned twice after his death and in both scenes he is quickly forgotten about. The way Scott's death was handled by everyone at the X-Mansion was completely unrealistic. If characters in a movie show little concern towards the death of a prominent character then why should an audience care? Having someone die just for the sake of shock value is poor storytelling. On the contrary the characters' reactions to Uncle Ben's death were very emotional, believable, and became a central theme for all of the spiderman movies.

Coz other characters were busy with something really important?
Like Storm was being pissed because Logan wouldn't hit on her, and Bobby was too busy being Kitty's good friend.

I remember he said he quitted it after his son was born.

The trailer is up for Hairspray, check it out:

You do get to hear a little bit of James singing some of "Nicest Kids in Town" early in the trailer, he's got a great voice!

I've seen the show on Broadway twice, and I think the movie looks like a lot of fun...although I wish they'd kept Harvey Firestein as Edna instead of John Travolta, he doesn't look nearly as funny as Harvey was in that role.

A cyclops poster i made for the hopes of a X4 :D

Unfortunately, I think this is a more accurate representation of Cyclops in X4.

No it's not. It's how the writers should end up looking like. :o Besides, there's always a way to get Cyclops back , whether he's dead or not, don't expect me to accept a lousy scene of floating rocks is enough to be a proof.

Wow! I love it! I hope when he comes back the first thing he does is blast the stupid tombstone with a ridiculous lettering into a pile of powders.

Do you mind I post your manips on cyclops_fans ?

In all honestly, I don't think Cyclops will be coming back. His death may have been handled poorly, but I think we've seen the last of him and Jean Grey. Any other ideas belong in fanfics. I don't think a mainstream audience would buy a next film that reversed everything that seemed to happen in X3, they'd feel cheapened and manipulated. Let go and move forward.

It would work for a young Cyclops to be in an X-Men Origins movie, but that's the best way to give people more of the character - to show the 20 years of the young X-Men between Jean joining the school and X1.

no offense...but was there any point to that post other than to try and rain on people's parades? I can care less about the xfilms now...but merely coming in to say "cyclops will stay dead" reeks of trolling, especially coming from you...

I'd say it reeks of common sense and a sense of perspective.

I'm not sure what you mean by the 'trolling' insinuation, as I'm not at all disposed to that internet affliction.

As I said above, the best hope for more Cyclops would be a movie showing the young years of the X-Men, which was a positive and reasonable suggestion. Such a movie would show Scott and Jean and Storm, and others too perhaps (Havok? Polaris? etc), without the overly-dominating Wolverine and his love triangle.

I'd say anything related to X3 lacks any sort of common sense or perspective...especially on these boards...

And you talk of moving forward, but then say there should be a movie with the younger xmen, which will have no purpose and wont appeal to mainstream audiences...Not to mention an x film without wolverine is less plausible than having an x4 with cyclops coming back

Agreed. And if that kind of poorly written script which trashes the Dark Phoenix Saga should be considered a rightful following of X1, X2, I don't see why the mainstream audience will have any trouble dealing with Cyclops coming back. They don't really see him dead.
Besides, everyone knows no one really dies in a superhero world, it's a commen sense, plus the fact that the movie deliberately chose to brush off the topic Scott's fate vaguely.

Though I doubt it that there will be an X4 in near future.

Apparently the mainstream audience didn't feel that cheapened and manipulated by the dreck of X3, so I think you're giving them a little too much credit.
