Thanks, your manips are always good, it would be a shame if other Cyclops fan don't get a chance to see them.

Thanks Hulkster and Urania :woot: :cyclops:

I don't think a mainstream audience would buy a next film that reversed everything that seemed to happen in X3, they'd feel cheapened and manipulated.

For mainstream audience TLS was just another summer flick. It didn't get half the recognition that PotC or SM enjoy. The three big names are still Batman Spiderman and Superman. So if X-4/Cyclops doesn't happen it because nobody up there gives a damn and not because of mainstream audience. At least the first two movies pleased the fans. :cyclops: :hyper:

You're seeing everything through a rose-tinted visor. You can't expect an X4 to be made just to undo things that were done in X3, or just to appease Cyclops fans. That's not to say Cyclops couldn't come back, but he's not the reason an X4 should be made. An X4 could be made because there are other X-Men stories to tell and other characters who have never been seen on screen.

And as for the first two movies 'pleasing the fans', you obviously (or conveniently) remember nothing of these forums before the X3 section existed. Complaints, complaints, complaints, about Cyclops, Rogue, Storm, Sabretooth, Iceman, the absence of Beast and Angel, and so on. Singer's movies didn't get universal appraisal on here - and I shouldn't need to remind you of that.

Yeah...X3 is ultimately a forgettable film...and thats why it dropped like a stone its second week.

You say it's forgettable and yet you seem unable to forget it. How strange!

Maybe it was meant to be a summer flick, maybe it was meant to have more of a POTC/swashbuckling/lighter touch. Maybe.... if.....whatever... It's a done deal now. Nothing you say will magically make it what you want. And if it was exactly what you wanted, it would not be exactly what everyone wanted. Lesson in Life No. 1 - You never get exactly what you want. Lesson in Life No 2 - Remember lesson 1.

Hahahaaaa. Oh wait, you're serious! Where were you when the first one came out and critics thought it was a laughing stock and the characters where dry wooden boring and lacked...character?

Am I on your ignore list? Cause um, 90% of my post are how crappy EVERYTHING has been forever. :cmad::dry:

I once got exactly what I wanted. I really big thing. Really really big. 100% exactly. May I be blessed

(don't worry, I know what you mean. No need to a page-long post about the nº1 lesson in life)

It was forgettable. No one really talks about the movie...like they do spidey. or shrek. or potc. maybe you should take your own advice. Summer flicks are usually...i dunno... REMEMBERED by people....but oh wait...you wanna conviently forget this so that, in your eyes, x3 can somehow look better than it actually is. The only time X3 is talked about is usually to talk about how bad it is, end of story...and i know you'll probably throw the "But it made more money out of--" crap that you and the other fanboys living in denial about this movies quality will make, but...there it is.

Life lesson No. 1: Know the facts...like X3 being a movie that, while making a **** load opening weekend...had a bigass drop, was ultimately forgotten by the end of the year, and is being forgotten now....

Life Lesson No. 2: It's not best to keep droning on and on...After a freaking year about moving on and accepting things...especially when you yourself have not. Practice what you preach.

Life Lesson No. 3: remember life lessons 1 and 2.

Never said that. Only said mainstream audience doesn't take part in the equation and that the true problam is no one cares about the fans.

Complaints, complaints, complaints.

It was nothing like TLS and you know it.

Am I on your ignore list? Cause um, 90% of my post are how crappy EVERYTHING has been forever.

Of course not :) I read some of your fics and liked them a lot! And I know you hate the movieverse, but I encountered a lot more fans who love the first two and hate the third. I never said the movies pleased all fans, that wouldn't happen in a million years, but still they are highly rated, and no I don't remeber critics lashing at X-1

One of my more personal favorite reviews for X-men. from Rolling Stone.

This is from a local Philly paper which I have a hard copy of. I love how they compare X-men not once but twice to the Phantom Menace. Awesome!

I have more :yay: but that would be mean. Let me find those sweet reviews of X2. :ninja:

Btw, thanks for the fic compliment. Appreciate it tons. Do you have any work? Can I read them if you do? I'm working on something else too with another author. It's cute. A new no power AU fic, and Scott is turning out to be such an adorable character, and we have something brand new for him. :D

How convenient that you only mentioned franchises which have sequels this year...of course everybody is talking about Spidey, PotC and Shrek, they are the big summer movies of 2007! Why would people, unless they´re fanboys, keep on talking about a movie a year later it was released. And X-Maniac is right - a year later we´re still talking about X3; bad things or good things, but still talking.
The X-franchise is not a forgettable one and never will be, even if X3 wasn´t the fantastic movie people were waiting. The Star Wars franchise had three weak (and, shall I say about the Phantom Menace, awful) movies, and people didn´t forget it.

So you read fanfiction, after all...
I remember you once said I had an horrible taste because I liked to read fics every now and then... :whatever:

Maybe you should check out what CBC is talking about :woot::cwink:. Speaking of Phantom Menace, you should check out the link in my previous post too. I am on a role tonight!

If you write an interesting Logan in your stories, I´ll read them... :cwink:

Yes. :oldrazz: Hit the link in my siggy, drop me a line. I am a sucker for reviews, especially one's that cut me slack on grammar. It's hard for me to beta my own work.

Have fun.

Don't be silly, that's not why I think you have horrible taste cough:wolverine:cough

:p

And what I said was that fics at ff.net are mostly bad and that TLS is amateurish in a ff.net kind of way. Can't remember what followed, but I'm sorry if I offended you. :meow:

The reviews bring up some good points (especially the rolling stones one), never said the first two are perfect (Cyclops fan, after all)...
And please let me know when your AU is posted. Sounds interesting! :)

I hear people talk about the movie in my workplace. Anything with Jackman, Berry, McKellen, Grammer and Stewart is bound to attract attention and conversation. Other movies I’ve heard being talked about are Da Vinci Code, Star Wars (even though the last one was total rubbish in my view), Pan’s Labyrinth, Brokeback Mountain, Casino Royale, I’ve never heard a word said about POTC or Spider-Man. I heard one comment (a good one) about Batman Begins. I’m not claiming X3 was superior quality or the best movie ever, and never have. But I don’t believe it was rubbish. Could it have been better? Yes! Any movie with X-Men could always be better in my view (I’ve read the comics since 1975 so I’m a long-standing fan) but I don’t expect a panel-by-panel translation to screen. I like some surprises. I expect to see the spirit of the comics, but not the letter. I look at it realistically, I know I’ll never get exactly what I want, I know some elements will be omitted, exaggerated or reduced. I think it’s a shame Bryan didn’t complete the stories he had set up but theres not really a goddam thing I can do about it. The three movies are still enjoyable for what they are - an alternate universe compressing 40 years of events into three mainstream movies. X3 was no surprise to me - i knew Bryan left, I knew Marsden was in SR, I knew Ratner was on board, most of the film was in the trailers. Why would anyone be surprised - and continue to be surprised a year later? What does flailing and floundering on here accomplish?

How original a response. I have moved on. Others have not. In the meantime I continue to offer a counterbalance to the silliness on here and to show why I enjoyed it. I don’t want to see the hype drown in ridiculous negativity. Thankfully it’s not too bad here. I remind myself of that with a peek at the SR forums, where it becomes obvious that Bryan was better suited to X-Men than to Superman.

No you havent moved on....and neither has nell...or loganbabe....or anyone else who still has a need, after a year, to try and change opinions on a movie that simply isnt good. Most have said their piece on X3, good or bad, and moved on. But what do you do? You come into the cyclops thread talking about moving on with some unrealistic idea of cyclops being in some prequel movies you know wont happen.

Here's news for you: If people havent "moved on" now, they wont....for a long time. you're no psychiatrist...you're doing no one any favors by constantly saying "move on move on"...no one's gonna listen to you, and no one's been listening to you for a year since the crap that went on a year ago is still going on now.

Life Lesson No. 4: Sometimes in life...you have to realize...you're not Dr. phil, and you're not oprah. If people want to hold on to what you believe is some irrational hatred of the film...let them. You dont know these people and you probably never will. Let them go on with whatever they want to do. "A Man's gotta go his own way".

Except you are doing exactly what you accuse me of doing: popping up in a thread merely to cause an argument.

This is a forum, and with your postcount, you should know that and know how these sites work. I don't want to change anyone's mind but I am entitled to present views, ideas and interpretations. I am a great X-Men enthusiast so I would have thought I am in the right place to talk about them. I'm here often - whereas you appear here only rarely, to dole out authoritative verdicts and argumentative statements. I hardly ever see you in any other X-threads, giving positive ideas or interpretations.

Basically, you have no right to tell what to do or say. And i'm not going anywhere.

Also, in the Magneto comicbook prequel to X1, it showed Magneto finding and rescuing a young Cyclops from a mob after his powers manifested. And someone posted some great pictures of younger lookalike actors (for Cyclops, Storm and Jean and others) in the X-sequels thread. So I believe the idea of Cyclops appearing in a prequel (even in the Magneto movie) is a great one. Whether it ever happens is another thing, but that doesn't preclude any debate about it or enthusiasm for it as an idea.

Your next lesson is to get off that high horse.

*sigh*

Let's keep the convo focused on Cyclops--not eachother (why do I feel like I'm a broken record? :csad: )
