The Force Awakens Daisy Ridley as Rey

Status
Not open for further replies.
if Rey is Luke's kid, I'd rather he give her up for her own safety before he goes into exile and let the Solos raise her.

There's also the fact that she's apparently living on Tatooine, is wearing an outfit that looks like a homage to certain outfits that the other main characters have worn, and Daisy looks like if you took Portman and Fisher, threw them in a blender, and mixed them together. Also, they're making a point of keeping her last name a secret. At this point, if she's NOT a Skywalker/Solo, then it'll have been a MASSIVE case of misdirection on the filmmaker's part.

I think it is pretty clear she is of Solo/Skywalker decent. I doubt they would hide anything if it was not. There must be some significance. But in the end for me it really always comes down to story telling, and the film itself, not how it's hyped up or revealed to fans a year in advance.

However we still have a little over a year left until the film is out. So I'm sure we will learn more one way or another. We just have to remember in such a early stage very little is usually revealed.

I just want SW info. I don't care about you delving into people's personal photo collection looking for a scandal, tabloids. Leave it be.

I'm not really sold on the name Rey.But when you think of it,Padme and Leia aren't exactly tops either.

Nerdist - NEW DETAILS REVEALED ABOUT THE STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS TRAILER

...

Jacob Bertrand (Kirby Buckets) shared some new tidbits in an “Inside The Force Awakens” special after the Star Wars Rebels marathon today on Disney XD.

...

– The goggles worn by Rey (Daisy Ridley) once belonged on a stormtrooper helmet. They’ve been scavenged or stolen and modified. Again, this was something many reaction posts to the teaser mentioned a few weeks ago with comparison photos.

Fan art posted by Chloe (December 2014).

An excerpt from an interview published October 7 with Ridley's SW:TFA self-confirmed stunt double, Chloe Bruce.

DG: Do you have a favorite movie or set of movies? Are you a fan of Star Wars? If you are, do you have a favorite character?

CB: One of my favourite movies of all time has to be Shawshank Redemption. I love movies like that. I have watched a few of the Star Wars movies, and I have to say I do enjoy Princess Leia as a character. I like the love interest with Han Solo and also the fact she is twin sister to Luke Skywalker. I think that storyline was great. She has a well driven, dedicated personality which reminds me of my own personality.

I wonder how much Rey will remind us of Nausicaä—a fantastic movie by the way.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)

Kathleen Kennedy produces a lot of the English versions of Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki's stuff (she's a fan). Mark Hamill has been a voice actor in Nausicaä and more.

Can't believe there aren't more posts about Daisy Ridley here. This girl is going to be BIG. She has the perfect mix of charisma, beauty and if KK and JJ casted her sure thing she has to be a pretty good actress. Can't wait to see her in Ep. VII.

Oh and yes, she is a Solo.

I've just realized that Rey's head gear in the trailer resembles concept art of a female Luke in the early McQaurrie illustrations.

I think that's the idea. A look that would fit with Luke and Anakin from the past.

Asked if there was significance to the numbering, Abrams replied: “YES.”

I too wonder if Rey is just a smokescreen for her true identity and that Rey will turn out to be Han and Leia's daughter? I mean it would make sense think about it

Given that she doesn't even have a last name, she could just be "Rey Solo." But yes, I do think she will be a Solo.

It would be Miranda/Talia and Harrison/Khan all over again! :woot:

I know right and Abrams he did the same thing with Harrison and he was revealed to be Khan so Rey being Jaina Solo Han and Leia's daughter makes sense

That does make sense.

There's people I recognize like Andy Serkis and new people that I never seen before like Daisy Ridley - but they're so good that I'm thinking about asking them for advice - I don't want to give any myself."

At this point, I feel like it can go either way on her being revealed as Luke's or Han's offspring by the end of the film given on how they've kept her identity a secret so far.

I mean it wouldn't be that shocking if she were revealed to be Han and Leia's biological kid because everyone knew (that saw the OT) that Leia and Han were most likely going to get together after ROTG, but there was nothing to indicate back then that Luke would create a family of his own.

I wanted her to be Luke's, but I don't see it at this point. I totally believe she is Han and Leia's. Even if she were Luke's, I don't think she would know it. I think no matter what, she was raised by Han and Leia.

TFA needs to introduce the next generation of the Skywalker family at the same time Han and Leia's story has to have evolved between ROTJ and TFA. It's a twist on the lineage for the family to go Solo.

Solo kids are still Skywalkers, just not by name. It makes Luke more unique being the last Skywalker if he doesn't have kids. It also adds Han, a non-Force user into the family line. Which is cool just because.

At this point, I've already made peace with the idea/possibility that Rey may just be the daughter of Han and Leia. So if that were to be the case, I'd still be up for it.

However, I wouldn't be surprised IF they they pulled a twist and make people think, including Rey, that she is Han and Leia's kid...only for it to be revealed at the end that she's Luke's kid instead.

I mean it would be somewhat of a recurring motif in the trilogy, where like Luke..she was raised by her aunt and uncle, only to find out that her biological dad is a Powerful Jedi.

But again, if she just turns out to be Han and Leia's....it would still work for me.
