If the new rumors are true, and there is a real possibility they are, Rey/Kira or whatever her real name is, is going to be the main character. Especially if[BLACKOUT] Kylo ends up being her brother and they are Solo/Skywalers[/BLACKOUT].

This film seems to be about a lost and lonely young girl, who must come to terms with who she is and what she chooses to do with that info.

If the final scene of the film is her returning the lightsaber to Luke, becoming his student, yeah there is no doubt. That puts the trilogy squarely in her hands.

She's set up to be the functional equivalent of these past key characters as far as we can tell given the way information is pointing.

Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) on the Meet The Movie Press (25:54) show today said he's the one that created the fake/imposter @daisyridley twitter account back on April 29, 2014. I remember he tweeted a while back to ask Twitter/Lucasfilm what happened to it. It was taken away from him.

ok about the name-- "Rey"-- is that spelling accurate?

because in Japanese Manga/ Cartoons theres a character named "Rei", more popularly known as Sailor Mars, so if theres a question whether its a girl's name, apparently it is and its been used for a long time.

also given the spelling of "Leia", "Rei" isnt so a far removed from her mother's name (if she is the daughter). i agree that it could still be a nickname/ or part of several given names, or a disambiguation of whatever her real name/ status is.

As of the time of this original post, the names "Rey" (or any combination of) and "Finn" (or any combination name) have not been trademarked by Lucasfilm/Disney. Poe Dameron, Kylo Ren, BB-8, and Captain Phasma have been trademarked since December. The titles The Force Awakens and Star Wars Rogue One have also been trademarked.

Merchandise: Children's tables and chairs

if they wanted to keep her real name a secret until the film comes out, why even put that prop with that label out for display?

with all the attention to detail, you'd think someone would have flagged that and changed the card to "Rey's car" or something.
