So just finished watching the season. What can I say...I generally liked it, but it had a number of mishaps, but good writing, good character development, and great acting. Didn't expect Matt to have a revelation about his mother, but wow...nor did I expect to get Karen's background story. First a while, I thought, oh Karen's going to steal the story in this episode, should the series be called "Karen" now? Ultimately that episode progressed though and thought the Karen episode was good. Liked every battle with Bullseye and Daredevil.
In spite of all that, this season did get pretty miserable. Matt was emo Matt longer than I thought he'd be. Kingpin is...a decent villain. To be honest, I'm a little tired of him. This season is in many respects, a rehash of season 1. Kingpin's motives are the same as before. The thing that makes a villain great is if they are incredibly unstoppable, and on that aspect, that's what makes Kingpin a good villain. But the ending doesn't have that much of a difference from the first season.
We didn't get to see Bullseye get a full costume at some point which I expected, but it should have happened. The season had good twists as usual like the FBI. My main baggage though is Matt not wearing the red suit by the end of the season, still, earlier would have been better. The black suit was a great start to the series, but we had to see that...again. I'm disappointed by the lack of the red suit worn by Matt. These Marvel Netflix shows sometimes take themselves too seriously, by being as realistic as possible. Worried about corniness or something. Iron Fist should have worn some sort of suit, it didn't have to be exact, but at least give him the mask. Guess that's why we didn't see Dex wear a Bullseye costume. He was a good villain, but needed a suit of some kind to symbolize the character. I'm not saying every hero or villain needs to wear a costume, that would be dumb, but iconic characters like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage don't need costumes, but Daredevil, Bullseye and Iron Fist do. Iron Fist was so lame. I think having a mask would have made Danny Rand somewhat more buyable. Because that show was about Rand's father's corrupted business by his...friends...and a brother hiding his father, and the sister, who really had no place or any relationship with the main character whatsoever...a billionaire with a glowing fist which he could turn once every 24 hours. He didn't always need the glowing fist-so what was the point? I think that show potentially could have worked the least bit more if they just gave Danny Rand some sort of suit.
Not the problem with Daredevil this season mainly, but it was missing something for me. All in all though, I think I enjoyed season 2 the most. But to go another full season without the suit was a sad, missed opportunity. This show didn't give us anything new apart from Bullseye. We got Kingpin's white suit from the comics, maybe, but I expected a fresh plot. The entire season, Daredevil was a wanted man and on the run. We couldn't see him wear the red suit for obvious reasons, but so much of this feels reminiscent of The Punisher season 1 and Daredevil season 1. Not much new. Kingpin was the main villain again. In spite of him being a highly unstoppable villain, I find him annoying apart from that. A man-child who is misguided and will only see his way of doing things as the righteous. It's nearly the same as DD season 1.
Too tired to type now as I watched the season in just two days. More thoughts later.
