AoS is actually quite good, if you get past the first 15 episodes. It came together very well, and has some great performances.

I think shorter seasons are always better. There's always so much filler on AOS, and the stories tend to drag as a result.

That's why they do one story arc for half a season now. I agree, some episodes do drag.

The Netflix shows and Agent Carter are much better. I hope they can make the Mockingbird series as good as the Netflix ones.

Fingers crossed.

the reason the netflix stuff is better than AoS isn't b/c of the entire season dump at once (although that helps), it's quite frankly network tv is trash

it's too "safe" and plays to the lowest common denominator

also the netflix stuff is strong b/c they're pulling from quality story arcs from the source material

man without fear, alias, ennis punisher vs daredevil, etc

AoS was just "ok here's coulson and a bunch of made up whedon-esque templates for tv"

it's gotten better but still suffers heavily

The arc that DD Season 2 is based on that you're thinking of is called Welcome Back Frank (and it also looks like we're going to betting adaptations of Daredevil 183-184 by Frank Miller). I'd also say that a good part of it is adapted from Miller's original run with Elektra and that Kirigi will presumably be the big bad of the season, his casting just isn't important because he's a mute zombie reanimated by Hand magic.

Spot on
The only network TV superhero show that has impressed me is Agent Carter. I'm trying to slog through Arrow, Flash, and AoS, but it all leaves so much to be desired.

i liked s1 carter better than AoS too

it was only 8 episodes, so they had to be tighter with pacing and less filler

plus you can tell atwell is a stronger actor with a theater background.

my only fear is that with s2 carter they're not jumping ahead too much, and just going a few years into the 50s. and while i know it's difficult to be a woman in the 40s/50s they were a little too on the nose about it like network suffers. JJ was much more clever in getting its point across about the challenges a woman faces

That would've been a pretty cool way to end the series and get everyone really pumped for season 2. Oh well.

I believe it wasn't until season one was released and with the reception it got that Netflix gave the go ahead to go right into a second season.

The original plan was just one season like the other Defenders. It would have kinda sucked to tease that without certainty a follow up season would even be out in a year?

We might get some new DD tidbits tomorrow. Netflix has their Television Critics Association presentation.

Hope so! I wonder when we will get our next teaser trailer or poster. I figure we wont get any full trailer till at least February but still, another teaser would be nice.

Here's hoping that Luke Cage and Iron Fist both do well enough for second seasons as well. I feel like there are Luke Cage villains who I really want to see on screen (Atlas, Chemistro and Nightshade) and some Iron Fist baddies I want to see as well (Chaka, Steel Serpent, Xao, Master Khan).

So Punisher has enough enthusiasm for a Netflix series but Elektra doesn't?

I'd be more excited for an Elektra series than a Punisher one but I doubt she'd ever get one :/

I think Elektra should stay in DD's series for the time being. Add her as a Defender perhaps.

My bet is we'd see them both continue together in a Heroes for Hire series.

I feel like we still need Bullseye to kill her in Season 3 (which should thematically be about how Matt should react to somebody who really is pure evil) and then be resurrected during Season 4 which should based on Born Again with Kingpin and Nuke returning as well as Elektra Lives Again where Elektra kills Bullseye.

After that, Elektra should get her own series.

In the meantime, I can hope that She-Hulk, Blade and Moon Knight should get Netflix series and Shang Chi is also a possibility if Iron Fist gets a second season.

I really hope that they leave out stuff like resurrections. The show doesn't need things like that. If a character dies, then the character should stay dead.

I hate to say it, but I agree too. Which is why I hope Bullseye doesn't show up until season 3.

So, at this point is it safe to say that Castle is the THE antagonist of this season? Unless Marvel's keeping it secret, we haven't had any other casting for any other DD characters or villains. I had originally assumed that Punisher would be a mini arc this season but sounds like the entire season is about Daredevil vs The Punisher.

I'm cool with that.

So we got Cap vs Iron Man ,Batman vs Superman and Daredevil vs The Punisher.

I like it.

i'm 99% expecting a kingpin teaser in the end

A scene description with Elektra and Matt from Deadline.com. It was shown at the TCA thing:
By far the biggest highlight of the presentation was a clip from season two shown to the audience before the panel discussion. From early in the season, it sees Elektra and Matt Murdock engaged in a tense discussion, after Elektra breaks into Murdock’s apartment. While the scene was carefully selected to avoid giving away greater context, it’s notable in th amount of palpable history between the two characters is conveyed. Years of lingering heartache and regret on both their parts was made clear, and while I don’t want to judge it apart from the episode in which it takes place, it feels like a good sign of things to come. At minimum, this will remain focused on character as much as it is on superheroics.

Along with Élodie Yung on how she approaches playing Elektra::
“[She and the producers] think Elektra is kind of a sociopath. This world is a game for her, like a chess game. What motivates her is what she wants, she’ll use anything she needs to use to get to her goal, and if she needs to kill people she would. On the other hand, we wanted to create a character with different layers… I think Elektra isn’t a bad person, she’s not a good person, she’s a person with different traits.”
