This costume and Deathlok's Laser Tag outfit definitely are contenders for worst costumes in the MCU. But you might understand with Agents of SHIELD, but there's no excuse for such a horrible costume in a Netflix show. So really, I think DD's costume actually wins worst costume because it's really quite an eyesore whereas Deathlok's just looked cheap like some slacks and a Laser Tag vest thrown on.

It can be practical, but it doesn't have to show its practical nature. We don't actually have to see all these clunky or stiff segmented parts. It could be just built into the suit while retaining a more pleasing aesthetic. And since this is a comic book show set in a universe with all kinds of fantastic characters or materials, there's no reason DD couldn't have had a more form fitting body armour even if it might not be like that in the real world. When creators try to stick too closely to verisimilitude, that's when we end up with things like the X-Men costumes.

Actually, there is:

-The Netflix shows have deliberately adopted a more "gritty street level" aesthetic/tone. They're NOT going "fantastical," at least not yet.

-One of the big things in S1 was that Matt doesn't have a lot of money. He's not Tony Stark, or Hank Pym, nor does he really have connections to the other "big name" Marvel heroes yet. So him suddenly some super-duper advanced materials like that is A LOT harder to swallow, especially since S1 had him an a track suit for most of the season, that's how few resources he has open to him.

Is it a bad thing when you start agreeing with villains? Because I agree with Loki. :funny:

I think that the reason for the difference between some of the concept art, and the final product is simple. It's one thing to DRAW a costume. It's quite another to make it fit and work on an actual flesh and blood actor, and sometimes that can be a challenge. I feel like fans (who lets face have become spoiled rotten in recent years) sometimes forget that simple fact.

Yes. Building on this, the podcast 99% Invisible had an episode about superhero costume design (I think #190). I'd love something like the one in the opening credits, or just a costume closer to the concept art, but one of the problems the podcast mentions is that while it might looks great in static art, as a real costume it's a different story entirely.

Deadpool's costume doesn't look stiff or bulky though. It's also a 100% translation. And Spider-Man's costume in his films didn't looks clunky either. They had a texturing on them which, if DD had something similar, could be made out to be a special thin, skin-tight body weave that Melvin Potter had invented.

The costume looks better to me.
It looks tighter.

Yeah it definitely fits Charlie better this season as that was one of the issues from last season.

I think that alone should make the suit look better in action now.

Ya know... I've been wondering how popular Jessica Jones is. I've seen reblogs of the new DD pics throughout the day on Tumblr. I feel like the hype is real for DD and I never sensed it for JJ (and even now with show being out for over a month). I loved JJ, but I don't think it caught on as much as DD did. Just an observation I had today.

I sort of disagree. There has been a lot of buzz for Jessica Jones, I think it's probably reached demos that DD didn't actually.

Not to mention JJ was much less a known character than DD going in.

I'm not saying it's been bigger but it's probably done better than Netflix hoped for sort of like DD as well. There have been some articles asking why netlfix hasn't renewed it for a second season yet? Most likely because doing so would further delay the plans for the Defenders as they initially planned just 1 season each for the individual defenders, before the break-away sucess of DD.

I felt the marketing push wasn't as big for Jessica Jones. I don't know if that was the case, but to me personally it felt that way.

And maybe it's because Jessica Jones was a fairly new and unknown characters to many people that they didn't know what to expect. Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are all brand name characters with long histories with the MU, while JJ is mostly known as LC's wife who holds his baby in the background. I think a season 2 for JJ might have more hype now that it is established.

yeah, for instance the Ben Affleck costume looks like something I would NOT fight effectively in like...at all

I'm really excited to see the fight between DD and Punisher. Punisher is more brutal and war trained. I expect him to be able to take most of what DD can dish. Especially if he can get DD tied up like that.

Did a slight cowl adjustment to try to reduce the awkwardness of the face area.

Comparison to original:

What I did:

-Increased the space between the eyes and the end of the cowl so that his face didn't look at scrunched up as before

-Increased the redness of the lenses

-Increased the slope of the brows and the wideness of the eyes

-Tightened the cloth area around the neck

I'd argue that the original suit evokes Batman as it is. The update does make it look even closer, but I'd rather it look like that than awkward and scrunched up.

Funny enough they went for more of a The Dark Knight suit vibe than the new Batman.

Although I think the Dark Knight had a really nice cowl.

Looks like the show might be premiering in March...

I'm betting it gets released on March 25th or April 1st. Last year it was released the Friday after Easter. I'm sure it will be something similar this time. Most schools are on spring break around then, so there will be a ton of kids with a bunch of free time.

Maybe I'm just a bit old fashioned, but I'm hoping that just because Season 2 will feature more "sexual scenes" and stronger violence now that Elektra is back in Matt's life, along with his budding romance with Karen, that the show doesn't resort to the same type of style that was featured in "Jessica Jones".

It works for characters like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage perhaps, but I feel like they shouldn't go off the extreme with the level of vivid imagery that they incorporate into their violence and sex scenes.

I don't know I actually think that does fit Daredevil's character pretty well.

He's known to be a ladies man and after getting into the comics there are a few times where he's seen getting busy.

I don't have a problem at all with a sex scene or 2 between Matt and Elektra. Now I'm not saying we need one with Matt and a random bar pick-up.

Also I doubt the violence will get stronger than what we saw last season. Well we'll probably see more actual killings with Punisher in the picture.

I prefer it sticks to the style of season 1, even if the pace is a little quicker. I don't really want characters humping in almost every episode just for the sake of it. It seems a bit gratuitous, and some of Jessica Jones (I haven't finished watching it) sometimes seems a bit meandering and lacking the focus of Daredevil.

Any news on a blu Ray release of season 1 yet? Find it peculiar I can't find anything on it.

I always assumed there isn't a point in releasing it on Blu-ray and/or DVD since the majority of those who watched it have Netflix and can always go back and watch season 1 on Netflix

It looks like Kingpin may not appear this season:

So who would Punisher and DD be dealing with when they are not trying to thwart each other, because Frank would have more of an interest of taking out criminals then DD, at least at first.

It seems like they are borrowing some ideas from Welcome Back Frank, I wonder if Ma Gnucci and her family will appear as one of the factions trying to take over the void Fisk's imprisonment would create and Frank decides to take them out. Ma Gnucci is threatening enough, but she is no Kingpin, so she can take the role of target Punisher can go after while DD tries to stop him. Maybe Gnucci will hire Elektra to take out Punisher.
