Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 8

I've been rewatching the series and I forgot how cool that black mask looks so I'm okay with the black suit. And it makes sense for the story based on the leak I've seen.

It is rather cool. One of the better proto-suits in film or television imo.

Looking through Twitter and this is the first (and only?) reaction I've seen so far...

I'd rather have all the episodes so I'm not left hanging. :) Just hope this is better than Iron Fist was.

This is Daredevil we're talking about, at what point has it not been significantly better then IF?

I'm expecting what we got in the first 2 seasons, greatness.

Not really. He only got it in episode 4 then did not even wear it most of Defenders.
Episode 4? He got his suit at the end of season 1. They modified it, but it still counts as the suit. I mean, come on. :funny:

Also the story of the Defenders had him out of the suit, until they put him in the suit for like the entire second half. For the most part, superhero characters don't live in their suits. Bruce Wayne spends more time out of his suit then in it, in most films. The idea that Matt hasn't had plenty of suit time is just wrong. I also think it is kind of ridiculous to care more about whether he is wearing the suit, rather then the story and why he might not be wearing it all that much this season.

I had a source semiconfirm there’s
no Elektra in season 3. Sad but understandable. Was hoping for a brief glimpse or hint of whether or not she survived.

Chiming in from the shallow end, I rather enjoy seeing Charlie Cox in the black outfit. But if the two teasers are any indication, we're looking at season one type injuries. That level of damage isn't sustainable, so Matt/Daredevil needs to be in the suit, if only for self-preservation (assuming that's something he cares about).

That doesn't seem like a particularly safe assumption at this juncture, lol.

I couldn't agree more here. We can argue about Iron Fist having or not having a suit in his show and the various TV characters not having them. But Matt using the ninja outfit looks story motivated. That is much different than just not having him where a suit for no reason.

Awesome. I’m going to do a rewatch of all the MCU/Netflix shows after Season 3. Like I always do after a new season and watch the new season again.

The Entertainment Weekly article where the photos appear is kind of spoiler-y. You may not want to read it if you don't want to be spoiled.

I meant his upgraded costume. I'm not saying he needs to be in it all the time. But it would be disappointing if he doesn't wear it all season except maybe the end. I of course obviously care about the story. I'm just throwing out there it would be a bit disappointing, since it looks so good. It wouldn't ruin the show for me

Maybe I am just worrying about nothing, I just have a bad feeling these shows may not be around much longer. I want them to be, but after that stunt Netflix did with erasing all Defenders stuff from their Facebook and rebranding it, and Disney's streaming service coming out, I don't know. I know they said the Netflix shows will stay, but I just have a bad feeling lately. I hope I am wrong.

Sorry, but Daredevil is one of those heroes that are defined by his outfit, similarly to Spider-man. I know the Marvel Netflix show's seem to be allergic to traditional costumes, but DD's kinda known for his.

Yes, and he was the butt of the joke the whole time during Defenders for wearing it
It seems like MarvelNetflix gave in to the internet hive mind saying "the black suit was cooler" and may not feature the real costume at all in season 3

And like webhead said above, nobody's saying "no costumes means the show will be s***" Just that it's disappointing that Netflix is so resistant to using the costumes

Resistant? It clearly is storyline driven. They are using the cowl in marketing.

Also, lets be fair. Of course they made fun of him in the Defenders for a bit, he looks ridiculous. But at the same time, there was also clear respect as time went on. Is this different from Tony making fun of Thor and Strange's looks? Does that somehow make their use of the outfits or the characters themselves illegitimate? Of course not. Jessica Jones is snarky, its her whole thing.

DD felt like the odd one out and seemed as if he was going to be inspired by the others to leave aside his costume.

As I said before, these shows hate costumes. It's not changing anytime soon.

I do expect Matt to wear his regular costume towards the end of Season 3 but it is annoying on how these shows don't care for costumes. It is what it is.

I expected him to be costume-less for Season 3 and then by the last 15 minutes of episode 13 he gets his proto costume or Jessica Jones's scarf to wear on his head. :o
