Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 8

I hate to sound cyncial but i think thats just a blanket statement to soften the blow. I dont think they have any active plans to continue Charlie's DD...but theyre not shuttinf the door is all.

That's exactly how it sounds. And I doubt any new material would include Charlie Cox.

Plus, wasn't it said that Finn Jones would also reprise his role as Danny Rand? Though we have no idea how or where.

I mean what about Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing? She's technically the new Iron Fist.

Eh, it's your typical corporate PR spin statement.

Yeah, more from the Man Without Fear, but it doesn't say anything about keeping the same cast.

Look. There is bound to be new material with all these characters at some point down the line. Doesn't mean it will be in the same form. Marvel could give it the Spider-Man treatment.

True, but I don't remember Marvel issuing a statement like this after the fact with IF or LC, so it is a bit different.

It shows they have some awareness of how differently they have been received by fans and that cancelling Daredevil is a much more significant step.

Well, since she's in that upcoming Godzilla vs King Kong, the new Iron Fist has literally bigger monsters to fight.

If they do that anytime within the next decade I sure as hell won't be watching, I'm not about to settle for anything but season 4 of the show we already got. Daredevil more than any of the other shows did not deserve this at all, not after season 3 was so amazing.

It really is unlike any superhero show on TV, much as I enjoy the other stuff.

So in other words, Charlie Cox now finds himself in the same situation that Henry Cavill is/was in regarding the latter's tenure as Superman. Oh joy, I am so looking forward to partaking in that ride again.

#Releasetheseason4cut

I swear if it wasnt for Stranger Things and my odd taste for dumb 90s action films, Id be inclined to pull the chord on Netflix after 7 years of subscribing.

I wouldn't consider unsubscribing until all the seasons are on Blu Ray. Even if I have to import them to accomplish that like I did IF season 1.

I have no doubt that Feige and Marvel could do a Daredevil movie with a new cast that's very good, but I simply can't imagine anyone being better than Charlie and Vincent. Vincent especially is just a force of nature in that role. I can't see ANY actor coming close to matching that portrayal.

Interesting how they've all chosen the same type of marketing tactic. I wonder what JJ and Punisher will do.

The TV/Film division animosity is something I didn't know, but I guess it isn't totally surprising.
When one looks back to read the lines and in between them over the years, things sounded way too complicated among the Marvel film and TV divisions and then adding Netflix and costs into the mix, I guess it was bound to happen

Statement by Marvel:

Marvel Promises More Daredevil “Adventures” After Netflix Cancellation

Sounds to me like Charlie Cox will return!!! I hope at least, lol. This basically says Daredevil will return.
Did Marvel release a statement for IF and LC when they were cancelled?

Both Luke Cage and Iron Fist were cancelled on Friday, iirc.

So I think we only need to be nervous for 1 day out of the week.

I made this post on October 24 and back then I thought of having a countdown/ prayer circle every Friday or something, but then I forgot about it.

But Daredevil was cancelled on Thursday American time anyway.

I think all their social media accounts (or even all social media accounts of all Netflix shows) are handled by one person (because honestly I don't think it takes more than a person working full time to handle everything).

Yeah, that’s probably true.

So you think they'd attract more subs off the bat with Disney + with completely original IP"s as opposed to Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, etc? That's what they own Hulu for. The reason Disney doesn't spend money on too much original content cinematically is because they have these brands...They are known quantities, beloved and popular. It's also a corporate strategy. Which is working.

Except a lot of people already own this stuff. Hell they don't even get the original and prequel Star Wars streaming rights back until the mid 2020's. I'm saying Disney's strategy on relying of existing brands to win people over is a bad strategy because it breads stagnation and complacency. We've already seen it from Disney itself how little original work they do and how much they rely on the brands to keep their movie division afloat, and we've already seen just how too much of one property can lead to loss in revenue with Solo flopping. Too much content from the same brands or same catalogue is a terrible investment long term, and an even worse one in the middle of a streaming war. Netflix and Amazon reign supreme because they are investing in new ideas and concepts all the time. People can bury their heads in the sand about Disney but even those in charge at the company would admit in private they are gambling their future with this service.

Wonder if disney stop making dvd's?

I think disney are doing alright. They got the highest box office for a studio ever last year and next year it looks like they will break that record. For streaming who knows what they are going to make?

This guy gets it...Pointless MCU/Star Wars shows are not enough.......Where is the variety?

They'll provide variety when people ask for variety. Besides, a small sect always complains about variety and lack of "original ideas" but still pay for, talk about, or both the big properties.
It's silly.

Yeah but can they provide the kind of variety that fans of Narcos, Stranger things, 13 reasons why, House of Cards and Anime fans want...That's variety, not endless Star Wars and Marvel shows.
