Daredevil reboot: official discussion thread - Part 2

Would Fox really be willing to do this just so they can make a Daredevil movie?

Not sure.

Well if the rumors are true and the DareDevil script is very edgy, rough, tough and gritty; it may not get made at Marvel Studios.

While I do love their films as much as the next guy, I don't see a hardcore DD movie happening with Marvel and their more family-friendly films (nothing wrong with BTW...just look at The Avengers:woot:).

Having an edgy 70's DD movie sounds like something that could be incredible and unseen before (no pun intended) if done correctly.

BUT.....

They're getting a director, just TWO months before they need to shoot. That doesn't inspire confidence. The idea of the film is something that captivates me, but it seems like something that would be rushed.

I wish there was a 70s Punisher movie. He seems the one most suited to that time period back at the time of Death Wish and when the Guardian Angels patrolled the New York underground.

Give Punisher to Fox in exchange for Fantastic Four. FF are more suited at Disney/ Marvel.

If Marvel were really desperate, give Fox Power Man and Iron Fist too. And Ghost Rider too, even though he's not theirs to trade.

Hence why they're talking about letting Marvel have a few of the cosmic characters, so they don't have to start filming in October

Maybe they'll give Fox until next Summer, in exchange for being able to use Galatcus and Surfer. But if Fox still can't get a DD film underway by then, then they'll have traded away two characters and won't have anything to show for it. That could be the way both Fox and Marvel are reasoning.

Are they actually saying its set in the 70s (which would be awesome) or just 70 inspired (which still would be pretty good)?

Do people ever talk about fight choreography in this thread? Imo Daredevils fighting style is an intrical component of the character. D fights like a dancer who can fight with flowing movements. if he fights in a stiff manner similar to Bales Batman or Aflecks Daredevil ill be disappointed.

Ha! This shows how close FOX is to losing the DD rights. Oh how I wish a certain poster was here to see these latest developments.

Not to be a negative Nancy Snikt, but the script for the last Daredevil movie was reportedly ALL those things as well.

LOL very true...but there was a certain Mark Steven Johnson that was involved and it didn't help.

Although I did enjoy the DD: Director's Cut.

People online were raving about his script before it got filmed including AICN's Harry Knowles.

that's a rotten deal. MS will get the rights to the FF back anyway sooner or later. In only a couple of years both the FF and the DD would have come to MS and there would still be enough time for Galactus to appear in Phase III.
There is no need to hurry unless they want the characters in time for GotG.

If FOX is willing to make this deal it's obvious FF isn't a priority over there. Seems like a deal for FOX to save face. Losing Daredevil makes them look weak, but brokering a deal with Marvel Studios for these rights is a good idea.

Let them make their DD film. I rather have Galactus and Silver Surfer DONE right down the road. Besides without them is there really hope for a FOX based FF film franchise?

Is thete any hope for a Fox based FF franchise at all? As you said, FF doesn't seem to be a very high priority. In more or less 2 years they will have the same situation with the FF rights as they have now with the DD rights. All MS has to do is wait.

Yeah but let's just think why they do this deal. If Marvel gets DD back he'll be on the shelf just like Blade, Punisher & Man-Thing are.

Doing this deal helps GOTG. Who wouldn't want the Watcher, Galactus, Silver Surfer if not in the film at least references.

FF's coming home in a few years, but this move seems more like FOX waving the white flag.

babykhris, I'd rather have DD on the shelf at Marvel than his perpetual 10 year plus shelf at Fox with no output.

I can't figure out whether or not MS is really after Daredevil, or after Cosmic Marvel. Either is a possibility....expanding Cosmic Marvel lets MS explore more of the Avengers, GOTG, Inhumans, Eternals, Nova, and even The Defenders; but it *could* be that MS is actually after DD instead, and they're just pressuring Fox to give him up. If that's the case, I could really see MS opening up a whole new substudio devoted entirely to Marvel Knights characters (think of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Moon Knight, Daredevil, Elektra, Punisher, and Blade, just for starters) in a darker, grittier street level neighborhood of the MCU. Maybe even for TV moreso than feature films.
