Daredevil reboot: official discussion thread - Part 2

I never believed this story when I first heard it. To me it didn't make sense. We know GOTG is undergoing rewrites and would pose a problem if they were to shoehorn Galactus and SS in this movie. While they aren't corner stone characters they are the most popular after Doom....so if Fox was gonna turn FF into a tent pole series they would have shot themselves in the foot by not being able to use Big G and SS.

To me this sounded to much like wishful thinking than reality.

They most certainly are. Doom is their arch nemesis but Galactus ans SS right there behind him.

But i can guarantee you fox wont use them... A) they arn't going to retell FF2 B) you can still tell a great F4 trilogy without them... They will most likely be using The Negative Zone and Annihilus instead of space stuff anyway.

Looks like DD is heading back to Marvel Studios.

Well, but be sure about one fact then: We probably wont see an Daredevil film for at least another 6 or 7 years. I dont really see Marvel Studios move ahead with DD. It will dust on their shelf.

FOX cooperate? Riiiiight

Marvel Knights? Hellz yeah!

I'm not arguing that. But why give away a commodity like G and his universe?

That's fine by me. Hope they hit FF out of the park.

because they will most likely sit on him like they already have been (remember how we were suppose to get a SS/Galactus film that never happened?) much like how some people said DD will sit on a shelf on marvel.

if they cared about SS and G they would have used them by now

How'd you figure? Now that the cornerstone of Marvel Knights is coming home, that frees up the Punisher to be used in a capacity more productive than starring in his own movie (ala Hulk). Marvel is probably waiting for Ghost Rider to follow suit someday, then they can do the same for Blade.

And if there's something all this debacle has told me, I'd have better odds waiting for a DD movie from Disney/Marvel than from Fox.

Yeah, that bit is what made me discount this rumor from the start. I'd sooner see a unicorn.

FFROTSS was made for 130M and only grossed 289M...which is why there isn't a FF3....or a SS/G movie...no one spins off failed movies

I don't know about that. If Carnahan already has a script or at least a concept in mind, I don't think he's going to just throw it away; he'll just approach Marvel Studios with the pitch instead of Fox. DD might not be on MS' radar just yet, but, much like their approach to Edgar Wright and Ant-Man, they're probably willing to play ball with a director who's eager to move forward with a project. I could see a DD movie becoming a "third film" in 2015, much as Ant-Man is getting wedged in as a third in 2014.

and studios don't remake failed movies.... not without changing them up. so no.. SS/G probably wont show up.

they're as much to the fantastic four as Doc Ock is to spidey... Classic big villains and incredibly iconic.. but for story telling purposes... they're no Norman Osborn or Dr. Doom

Because as of right now Marvel is focused on the properties they already have...and while we may know some of the Phase 2 plans I can guarantee Marvel probably has their MCU planned out a few more Phases. Marvel Knights (if they decided to do it) will be several years away while Marvel makes films based on proven properties (Cap 2 and 3, Thor 2 and 3, IM 3 and Avengers 2...while adding GOTG 1 and 2, Ant man 1 and 2 and any other surprises Marvel has up its sleeve).

no they won't remake movies but they will reuse characters (Hulk, Catwoman, Bane)

Marvel Knights could work if MS created a smaller "Searchlight"-type studio to handle their smaller-budget street-level hero films. Or even move Marvel Knights to TV instead of features. (I pray to god an MK show/shows would be on cable instead of watered-down network TV, though.)

Yeah Im still hoping for a "Marvel Knights" type thing to be a plan Marvel Studios has for getting their street level heroes on screen

no they won't remake movies but they will reuse characters (Hulk, Catwoman, Bane)

1) hulk is a main character of a film. You can't do a new hulk movie without Hulk

2) Catwoman is just an insanely popular character.. and it's been 20 years since she appeared on the big screen (long enough wait)

3) Bane is probably your best example (butchered character in a crappy sequel) but even he had a good 15 years before he was used again... If people are complaining about seeing Spidey (an insanely popular heroe)'s origin again.. you really think people would want to see that team-up again? not to mention... The Surfer didn't even attract that many audience members to begin with...

But it was a spin-off of a movie that cost 53 million and made 25 million.

Machete was a film he wrote in 1993 and when they got around to filming the fake trailers for Grindhouse RR used this idea he was already decided to film....technically its not a spin off of Grindhouse...as the character originally appeared in Spy Kids

as great as they'd be on Cable... shows like Law and Order arn't watered down at all... and pull off exactly what DareDevil should pull off... maybe not punisher level... but DD yeah, he'd be fine

I love the idea of a Miller inspired, 70's crime thriller Daredevil movie. Hope that's what actually gets made...

but they didn't they used him as a supporting character in Avengers

2) Catwoman is just an insanely popular character.. and it's been 20 years since she appeared on the big screen (long enough wait)

Catwoman appeared in the widely panned Halle Berry film Catwoman which was in 2004...8 years ago but still

3) Bane is probably your best example (butchered character in a crappy sequel) but even he had a good 15 years before he was used again... Why wouldn't people want to see SS and Galactus again on the big screen...look how many people flipped out about this news

Imagine Punisher, Daredevil, Heroes for Hire, Daughters of the Dragon, Moon Knight, Shang-Chi and Blade under the same label of Marvel Knights.

To steal an idea from AB, 2015 is an ideal time for a DD film that would startup a Marvel Knights line. Thor 3 and Avengers 2 are the only movies based on their current lineup's production rate I can see possibly being scheduled for that year.
