Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Dat J. August Richards Thread

Interesting but they ALSO said no to Rage as well so THAT part of it isn't who the hero is.
The one Pym thing may not be far off. Recall a certain OTHER African American Scientist, a FRIEND of Pym's named Bill FOSTER?

Bill Foster's a great call; but (a) JAR's character doesn't seem to resemble a brilliant scientist, and (b) most of the recent "evidence" seems to point towards the actual comic character being white, and this being another case of race-switching for movie/TV diversity.

....you have to LOOK the part to be the part? Since WHEN? lol
Look at Banner on the Incredible Hulk series. MANY MANY times he didn't LOOK like a scientist yet he was.

I *seriously* doubt they'll even touch the Blue Marvel. A complete OC would be better, seeing as at least a new OC will be written by someone competent.

So I have no clue who his character is after reading the spoilers. Did they make up a character and then go on the Marvel wiki to look for the most obscure name they could use without offending any fanboys?

In Superherohypes live blog of the panel it said that Tahiti is the key clue to the mystery.

Now...if I can just get a key clue to what that is supposed to mean then I'll really be on to something!

I guess slapstick's buddy isn't such a bad thing. we'll see whether this means he gets boosted in the comics, however.

Cool stuff. Deathlok. At least he's got a secret identity now.

Anyone think Mike Peterson will adopt an alias of Michael Collins? It's just a change of a last name, since he is already a Michael.

Maybe we find out his mom's name was Collins or something... Would seem the logical thing, I guess. Not change his name, but had a small nod to the comic Deathlok.

While most often I enjoy accuracy (everything down to the name), I don't actually see it being necessary here being that there have been several alter egos for the Deathlok character. No better or worse than Whiplash being Ivan Vanko.

Yeah, but it's an easy change from Mike Peterson to Michael Collins. It's just his last name. Centipede could give him a new alias. Or maybe he adopts it himself, for whatever reason. It's not as big a change from Mike Peterson to Luther Manning.

I'm all for it! Like I said, I enjoy accuracy.

I even had this wildly complex reasoning behind why John Harrison in Star Trek Into Darkness would end up being Gary Mitchell, (being that his father Gary Sr. was killed in the crossfire by Nero and his mother's maiden name was Harrison). But wouldn't you know it, Abrams took the easy way out. :P

I don't know if he'll be permanently outfited with the cyborg technology, but if he ever goes undercover for Centipede, he could easily adopt several aliases.

Would be cool if he were used by Hydra to fight the Avengers or someone else (eg Cap) in a future movie.

Changing his last name to Collins would be patronizing.
It wouldn't magically make his version of Deathlok at all reminiscent of Michael Collins's Deathlok so why even bother?

Was Michael Peterson a professor?
Does he have an advanced degree in computer science and prosthetics?
Is he a computer programmer?
Was he working for Roxxon in their cybernetic division Cybertek?
Did he stumble upon the Deathlok project?
Did he consequently get drugged by Harlan Ryker and have his brain transplanted in the Deathlok cyborg?

The only thing he shares with Collins is the color of his skin, and tv Deathlok isn't a full preexisting construct, just some add ons.

I'm surprised nobody has done a manip of JAR as Deathlok yet. Although, it seems the heyday of fan manips is in the past. I don't have the skills, and we'll see the real version soon enough anyway, I suppose. I hope he looks cool and high quality, not cheap.

I made this a short while before it was officially announced:

Oh cool! I don't know how I missed that. I hope that they have some sort of cybernetic fitting/metal on his head, but I don't think we'll get that since the eye device is internal. Maybe he will continue to evolve beyond his upcoming appearance, and Deathlok 2.0 (or 3.0 or 8.0 or whatever) will be as suped-up as the version you made!

This is Marvel Studios, so why does it anger you so that they are changing his storyline and background? They have done this for a lot of characters, this is no different. You should be used to Marvel Studios changing character origins by now.

He is pretty badly burnt, I'm sure he would get something to cover it up for protection
