That will mean they are burying X-Men and pushing GOTG,

And when Doctor Strange is set for 2016, Marvel will push him to the moon. Marvel is going to push the properties that will make them the most money, and with movies being the biggest moneymaker right now that means that, sadly, the X-Men are going to become sort of second class citizens (they'll never be absolutely buried because they are still popular, albeit not as popular as the 80s and 90s). We've already seen it with Marvel pushing the Inhumans as the "new mutants." Marvel wanted to create a new superhero in the past and couldn't figure out an origin for them? Make them a mutant. Not any more. Now they're an Inhuman (i.e. the new Ms. Marvel). Making the character an Inhuman allows Marvel to own their film rights. Make them a mutant and Fox gets their film rights. In the words of Scarlet Witch, "no more [new] mutants."

Yeah, I agree that Marvel will not create any new mutants in the comic books, and who can blame them? Right now any new mutants will just be added to Fox's X-Men franchise, instead of the MCU. I was a huge X-Men right when I started to collect comics back in '88, but right now I'm much more interested in the Avengers in both comics and movies. Unless Marvel and Fox can work out something that is mutually beneficiary, I think X-Men will be put further in the back burner.

I will always be more intrested In X-Men.

I don't see how any X-men fans can like the way X-Men Is being treated.

Fox didn't burst into marvel's offices and put guns to their heads to get X-Men rights.
They made the deal. And X-Men helped set the stage for what come.

Good luck to Marvel trying to replace the X-Men! :funny:

You take it way too personally - it's business, as simple as that. It sucks but why would a movie studio seek to bolster the appeal of a franchise they don't own?

Thankfully, the X-Men have a rich history and database of characters that even if Marvel never made any more mutants in the comics or any more story arcs, the movies will still have more than enough material to continue for quite some time.

It's a business decision, and if you look at it from a non-biased point of view it makes sense for Marvel to demote the X-Men as a centerpiece to their brand. I'd understand why any X-Men fan would be pissed about it but it just makes too much sense business-wise. Why should Marvel be creating characters for Fox that they themselves can't profit off of theatrically? Hence Feige really pushing the Inhumans as a potential film.

I think Marvel is doing just fine...
You're too emotionally attached to see why it is reasonable for Marvel to do it. They're ability to elevate Thor, Iron Man and Captain America means they don't necessarily need the X-Men to be successful.

Probably a good point on future creations who are unallocated becoming Inhumans rather than mutants.

I don't care about what is reasonable for Marvel to do. They're downgrading a property that prevented their campany to fail in favor of a bunch of C-list, D-list characters that no one gives a **** about it.

LOL Calm down there buddy. :whatever: Always welcoming of different viewpoints. I'll show myself out.

The reality is that, it's not the same as it was 10-15 years ago when Fox was making X-Men movies, because right now Marvel has their own studio and they're making their own movies. Fox may be making X-Men movies but the truth is they're only leasing the rights, and they can only keep the rights as long they make movies. If you were head of Marvel, would you do what's best for Marvel Studios or for Fox's X-Men franchise?

Good luck to Marvel trying to replace the X-Men! :funny:

It's not about replacing X-Men, but about putting other properties' best interest ahead of it. Marvel will still be making money off X-Men's comics and merchandising rights, and that will continue indefinitely.

The billions of dollars Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers have made thus far makes this sentence completely silly. Clearly people care a hell of a lot for those C-list and D-list characters - even moreso than X-Men and I'm a die-hard X-fan.

The fact of the matter is that Marvel doesn't need the X-Men (or FF or Spidey for that matter) so why do anything more than they need to?

Iron Man, Thor, and Capt. America were a bunch of B-list characters too, and their movies are now the highest-grossing franchise in the box office history. I think Marvel is doing pretty well with what they have.

I'm talking about the Inhumans here. Read before entering in a discussion.

I understand that and I've already said I don't care about that.

Personally, I don't not like the fact that we are discussing Marvel and X-Men like they are separate entities, because Marvel is X-Men and vise versa, same with Batman and DC. But it is what it is.

After seeing all three trailers I'm ready to put in my official estimate for box office tallies (worldwide). If the critics are good to it and WOM is positive, I honestly think it's gonna surpass the $600 million mark.

Hmm, I guess Brian Bendis and Jason Aaron didn't get the memo, since they created a ton of new mutants. Are they headlining a movie quality, no. (Still, I'm all for Eye Boy, Shark Girl, and Goldballs to show up on screen) But considering the sheer amount of mutants they already have, they could literally stop making new mutants and X-villains now, and Fox still wouldn't be able to fit them all on screen in my lifetime.

Marvel COMICS cannot afford to ignore the X-men. The sheer amount of titles that the X-universe can support points to this. The Comics division, no matter the Studio profits, cannot survive without X-men and Spider-man. You can view the Inhumanity stuff as trying to get away from X-men. But I think it is more about preparing for a new movie, much like how Guardians of the Galaxy was relaunched.

Back on topic, I'm not too worried about box office. Should do enough for a decent budget for Apocalypse.

Puh-lease Marvel promotes wolverine every chance they get :o

In comic sales, no. But in every other platform - apparel, toys, video games, Halloween costumes, home goods, animation - Cap has a much higher profile than the X-Men. Admittedly, most of that has to do with the rights issue, but it is what it is.

Videogames? I don't think I can name a single Captain America videogame except for the First Avenger videogame and the mobile game for The Winter Soldier. The rest of the videogames he appeared in, you also have Wolverine as one of the playable characters.

Animation? I don't he ever had a solo animated series.

Then for the other stuff like apparel, toys, costumes, home goods (LOL seriously?), unless you have a source for that, then I'll agree what with you are saying.

I'm actually happy with this if this is the case because since the last decade, I feel like there are thousands of new characters introduced to the comic-books and there were a lot of X-Men recruits. But seriously, Marvel is not stopping in releasing a dozen of X-Men related comic-books every month. So they will continue to create new mutants in the comic books.

Hmm outside of the Marvel universe they were b-list.

But Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk are always one of Marvel's Golden boys along with Spidey and Wolverine.

They have definitely created new Mutants. The re emergence of mutants has been a big plot point in the current books. The Uncanny X-Men and Wolverine And The X-Men books have tons of them. Alot of them are lame but that comes with the territory. Eva Bell is pretty cool.

One of the reasons why I stopped buying comic-books is they kept introducing a lot of new characters in every storyline that would last to 3 to 6 issues. I also didn't like that a mutant who were never part of the X-Men team, will become a X-Men in a couple of issues, then after 6 to 10 issues that character is gone or just hanging out in the background. For every 3 months, there's like a big crossover, and I had to buy the other titles just to complete the cross-over story arc and the crossover is not even good. I would actually be happy if Marvel Comics put X-Men in the back burner for a bit. Like they could just release 1 to 3 comic-books a month but the quality is there. I'll be happy with that.

Why? It sounds like you don't even read the current books, so how do you know where the quality or story is? Dropping the number of books that low would just have X-fans back complaining their characters are not getting attention or they are focusing on ones they don't care about like you mentioned above.

Just don't read the ones your not interested in. There's plenty of team and solo books for fans to pick and choose from depending on your style and character preference.
