Days of Future Past Days of Future Past SPOILERS! (You have been warned!) - Part 3

I guess I was always confused by these scenes. How was Xavier able to come back alive and how was Magneto able to move the chess piece although his powers were "cured"?
Leech took off someone power only around him not forever, and Charles got twin brother.
Answers are easy then.

Charles didn't have a twin in FC.
And why he should be mentioned? We didn't see birth of Charles in FC, but when he was 12.

During the credits, there are 2 names that I noticed. There was Red head little girl and Peter's sister by different actresses. I'm assuming these both reference to Scarlet Witch, but I don't know which refers to the one in Quicksilver's lap at the end. Was there a deleted scene with her? Unless I'm forgetting someone else in the movie.
None of both, Scarlet was in room upstair. The little sister we saw could be Lorna.

Alright then, how do you rank DOFP compared to The Winter Soldier? (Assuming everyone feels Spidey 2 isn't on par)
DOFP smashes CAP:WS if we talk about story/plot.

Never been a big Cyclops fan but that mask is ****ing badass. Better than the visor.
Scott is blind? That costume is ridiculous.

Just got in from seeing a late show and man.. How could you not be pleased with this movie??

I'll get this out of the way first, DOFP is the best superhero flick of the year and I won't stop there, it's arguably the best movie so far this year! I'm a big fan of The Winter Soldier and what DOFP lacks in action compared to TWS, it delivers with everything else. How do you beat the downfall of SHIELD? Try the downfall of humanity.

The opening scene where dead mutants corpse are being dumped among piles of others is gut wrenching. Mutants in camps lined up like lambs to the slaughter. It was all very haunting and it really sets the tone for the film. During the future fighting scenes I was very much into the unsung heroes. They were completely outclassed and had no chance of defeating the sentinels. There's literally no hope of defense, yet like true heroes they fought until their last breaths. Personally, I respect someone who knows they'll lose but still stand and fight anyway. You see that in each character. Some people will say "I wish the new mutants had more development" or whatever but I have no problem with it. I never was sitting there wondering "hey, where did ... come from?" You see them fighting for one another and giving all they had and that was all I cared about.

Quicksilver's scene was exactly comparable to Nightcrawlers in X2. It was just as good.

I like how they didn't overpower Beast. Originally I was getting a "Hulk" vibe from the rage transformations but in the fight against a sentinel you can see how.. not Hulk he is lol.

Charles is really emotionally and mentally messed up. You have never seen Charles like this or thought you ever would. But thanks to Wolverine, he finds his way.

One of the most impressive things were Wolverine being able to be in the backseat of a movie and still be able to make such an impact. I will never have enough of him, but it was good to see him not have to carry the movie for it to be good.

People complain about Storm's time but she had more power display in this film than any. Even if Halle wasn't pregnant, I don't know how much more she could've done. Those sentinels were everywhere and I couldn't see her flying on her own around them and not get killed instantly.

Old Charles and Magneto didn't do or say much but they didn't have to. Their presence was enough. All you could ask a leader/boss/parent is to be there with you guiding you. That's exactly what they were doing. They could've hid but they were right there. If the others were to fall then so were they. I liked how when told the sentinels were on there way, old Magneto didn't think two seconds, he went right outside to confront them like a soldier and not the general he appeared to be. Respect. (Reminder that the sentinels weren't metal neither)

The sentinels were completely bad a**! Completely something you'd be fearful of. Watching them kill each one of the X-MEN damn near effortlessly sent chills down my spine. Don't be shocked if you have a nightmare about one or two of them in the future. Those coffin like ships they come from are just as creepy too.

I think this story hits home on a lot of fronts. Like how we are always just one bad decision away from a much bigger problem. 1 death created billions. Also how we need to set aside differences and learn to let things go. You think about Treyvon Martin and these Donald Sterling comments and all the other acts of racism and segregation in the world and wonder are we setting our children's children up for a somewhat similar future if we don't all unite together? Think about it..

Colossus' death was shocking. Getting literally pulled apart like that. Must be a terrible way to go.

Oh yeah; if anything, the female mutants got the better deal when it came to their deaths as they were only just impaled.

We saw Bobby decapitated before being burned alive...then we saw Warpath get his face/head burned off, with Bishop being blown up.

I wonder if and how the Sentinels would have adapted to Wolverine if they had to fight him?

Could they adapt to Adamantium blades, like how they adapted to Sunspots heat. Would have been interesting to see.

I wonder if and how the Sentinels would have adapted to Wolverine if they had to fight him?

Once he stabbed them they would be able to replicate his Adamantium, then maybe a bit like SS in TW heat it to be able to slice through Logans metal covered bones??

Do you think we'll ever see the Sentinels in Timeline Sigma?

The "Twin Brother" line bothers me, as it felt like a joke throwaway line - I don't think its meant to be cannon.

You could easily just assume Masque was in the movie-universe and rebuilt his face for him at some point.

The movie is AWESOME 10/10 (FOR ME)
This is my opinion and possibly has spoilers cause there´s a lot to discuss... and at some points I’m going to get really picking on something (cause I’m a fan, but even so… PERFECTION)
I think that there were a lot of characters (amazing all) but the film was so intense from the first second that i couldn´t breathe for the first 15 minutes or so… I would love that they would explore every single one of them, but let’s get realistic… it´s impossible to do so, so if think that they were in the movie to do specific things and it was all well played. Yes I would love more dialogue and development but if was really pleased and surprised by all the things and how it happened…
The future is very well portrayed, dark, desolation everywhere… We even see the mutant concentration camps... We see a lot of mutants and humans on those camps, and if felt sorry and hopeless, really sad that things were a mess, and we (Homo sapiens) are to blame...
Then the MOVIE starts with sentinels all over our fellow mutants... Blink, Warpath, Iceman, Colossus, Sunspot trying to make time in order to Shadowcat and Bishop, reset that attack on them… It was brilliant... It was so exciting all that fighting and, for me, this was the best superhero movie because they manage to work as a team, a big thing for me, cause we don´t see other movies to play as well as this one.. I enjoy the Avengers, and they assembler well, but i think after that scene that the avengers are together, they go their separate ways, to do their own personal fighting skills (sorry the Avengers fans, this is what i think, not trying to attack the movie, which i enjoyed a lot)
At this point I’ll do my point of view on the characters

Characters (Past)
Intro- I was in for this movie with low expectations, because i just love the OT… But in the past, i just loved the core interpretations of Xavier and Magneto (two sides of a coin) and the merge of a new (different approach of idealism) power struggle with a mind of her own, Mystique... All of this with a “teacher” and mentor, Wolverine, trying to keep things on tracks... I think Wolverine didn´t make this movie as a “Wolverine movie” and it was really well achieved in the movie… So let´s go into the characters J
Wolverine- Really enjoyed the performance and the Jackman is and always be Wolverine. He´s just perfect, great body (we even see his bum), and we see him as a mentor of the rookie mutants... Even so, we see him go berserk after watching Stryker, causing to stab, in the future, my favorite character, Kitty Pryde… Even with his metal claws, and a smile passing a metal detector, for me, is the best Wolverine ever. Great job... Oh, and this journey to the past had to be made by him, because, for me, he has always acted like the spinal cord, for the x- men…
Xavier- Super… We finally see a mentor that has a dark past, trying to define himself as a person and a mutant... Making choices, for the greater good... The scenes that he is in are fantastic and well played... And what a performance... Amazing... the conversation that he has with magneto in the plane, and the talk he has with himself are really deep and intense...
Magneto- The other side of the coin... Well played as well... love the way he discuss with Xavier… He really is the other side, the counterpart of the dream... He just wants things done like for yesterday, no matter who he kills in the process…love the stadium scenes, even i didn´t quite enjoy the way he takes control of the sentinels (but it looks great on 3D), but it was ok, for me…
Mystique- The border side of the coin... The other third great vision of things… She doesn´t care about the ideology itself, but seeking revenge for the friends she lost... after seeing so much spoilers (i really believed) in a scene that she was going to give birth to Nightcrawler.. Instead she was healing for a bullet she took from Magneto... I really enjoyed her performance.
Trask- Every dictator has valid objectives and a good side on him, which was a surprise to me, because i was thinking that i was going to see a blind man that wanted to kill mutants at all cost... But no, he wanted to achieve peace with them, and protect humans at the same time…Guess there´s always two sides of the story... Filling the shoes of a person and, on the other side, analyzing what a person is doing… i guess…
Quicksilver- Outstanding scenes… Humor, power display... no words, have to see it again, because it made me feel i was watching X2 opening scene… Xmen style... Loved it... It was brilliant... Everybody was hating, and now everyone is loving him... and they should… Amazing really... Well done… Visually and a lot of humor…
Beast- At first, when i started to see spoilers, photos and his jumps i was like... disappointed... But in the movie i was really surprised because it turned out to be great... Personally i didn´t get the feeling of wires, and i personally think it was great, honestly... The handyman of Xavier, being there despite the hate or fear that people see when he was exposed to the world… i really liked it...
Striker- Have nothing to say about him… I liked him, but Mystique taught him well… here…
Havok, Ink, Spike, and Toad- they were on the Vietnam, and their presence, for me, was like puppets of the system... using mutants to take care of humans in a war... Mystique goes to rescue them, like, let´s get out of here… (starting the brotherwood?)
Azzazel, Emma, Angel, Banshee- Well, i felt sad when i realized that they were dead, and those photos of their autopsies... Broke my heart...
Sentinels (past) - When i first saw the first pictures of them, i thought this is not going to work... But you know what? They do... I do love how they move, they fly and start shooting everyone… I really enjoyed it... i loved it… really… And they look great, honestly

Characters (Future)
Intro- My favorite ones... GOD… I loved them... Yes i would enjoyed an entire movie only with them… (nerd side of mine), but they were there and every single shot, for me, counted as WOW…Yes there isn´t a lot of dialogue, but what it lack of dialogue, the best fighting scenes are there.. Love every single piece i saw…
Xavier- Loved the conversation with his younger self, always trying to take care of his students… even in the future... I remember when Storm dies, he makes a facial expression, i won´t forget... Well done...
Magneto- Redemption is the first word that i think... He´s fighting with the Xmen, trying to help, and even when he gets injured, he has a final talk with Xavier… all those years fighting each other Charles… Well done.. They are great, amazing actors…
Shadowcat- My favorite character... always been... Thank you Ellen Page... honestly... So tiny, yet to big... I even have you as Kitty on my phone wallpaper... lol... To do justice, i think (even i understand the whole concept of the plot) i think that a little more explanation was needed, in the movie, to explain how kitty could send someone into the past… A phrase like, i know now how to phase not only body, but also mind through time and space, would be enough, I guess.. Don´t know... But every single part that you´re in, I loved it a lot... Since escaping with bishop into the “vault”, getting stabbed accidently by Wolverine (I felt that one), your fatigue, and hopeless seeing the sentinels always so close, were so great... Really loved it... And when your teaching (have to see again what your teaching), when everything is reset, long aside with Colossus, was magic (maybe now you´re with him, fingers crossed). You´ll always have my heart Kitty, the most dedicated Xavier’s´ students... You prevail… Sorry guys, but it´s my favorite character... hehe
Iceman- Finally, the ice slide was amazing... The way he turns into ice, well done… really loved it... Even trying to hold the sentinels in the end... poor Bobby... It was amazing
Blink- One of the things i was most excited about to see in the movie... And it was great on screen... She interacts with every other character in the future and visually perfect... Even when you see Magneto facing sentinels, you saved him, to have the last talk to Xavier... Very heroic... Loved it
Warpath- I was impressed... by his battle interpretation… well done indeed... the knives and your deaths are also amazing…
Bishop- Well, I guess it was really great... Big guy, with a lot of power and concern towards what´s coming... Love the interaction with the characters, even with Storm... The realistic guy of the battle warning Storm that they can´t endure... Well played... Love the powers and his death, I was counting on it because he was literally overcharged and BUM…
Colossus- I loved the strong men of the future scenes... Sad he didn´t had a lot of dialogue, but we still see his calm and strength... His deaths are amazing, and how Peter/Piotr transforms is, for me, by far, the best looking... Again sad he didn´t (like most characters of the future) had a lot of dialogues but Daniel Cudmore seems such a great guy and actor…
Storm- Well, I always loved Storm... Even her looks over the franchise (don´t get mad at me for that)... Recently I discovered that Halle Barry is 47 years old (wow, great looks, by the way) and she was pregnant during the shots for this movie (had a hard time having a child, in this age)... Considering this, I really loved how she acts in her scenes... The calm one when everyone is starting to freak over the sentinels, and the strength in battle (loved how she charges Bishop and plays with Magneto in that big bang explosion using the jet)... Her death was… outstanding filming and a sign that, after that point in battle, everyone went like crazy insane trying to kill future sentinels.
Future Sentinels- They are incredibly spooky… can´t stop them... They are scary in every single way... They can change their size, can adapt the attacks and use them to do what they intend to... Kill all mutants… You can even see them use other powers like diamond form and using claws (well not claws, but kind of Lady Deathstrike nails, just don’t know how to explain in English, sorry).. The way they kill our favorite mutants is incredible... The scenes are amazing... For me, I can´t forget the sound they make, in the opening sequence, when they fall (still gives I chills) and the scene they enter throughout a tunnel to get in to the temple... Can´t erase that ones of my head... really spooky... Well done...
Rogue- Well I left Rogue for the ending cause it´s complicated... A lot of people are a bit disappointed that, in the movie, she only appears like 3 seconds... If I was a big fan of her, I would felt the same... But let me try to explain my point of view... I think, for sure, it could be possible to put her rescue scene in the movie... But we simultaneously would have two rescues on the movie (magneto in the past) and hers... I personally think that it would be “musically/plotting/montage” too much for this movie... Even so, I would think it would make more sense... Because I also think that made more sense that the sentinels can absorb mutant abilities because of her powers, and not from Mystique that can only copy the appearances... Don’t get mad towards this opinion, it´s just what I think... Not a fan for a rescue in a base of the sentinels, but a fan for a more solid script to justify how sentinels can have mutant powers…
Jean Grey, Scott Summers, Hank- loved the appearance, they look great... cherry over the cake... Well done
Bryan Singer and writers- I love the adaptation, the way they vision and capture the scenes... YOU WERE GREAT indeed... Be proud of your work...
Hopes- I just want more of the OT in the next movies... I think now, because everything´s possible, they could be more developed, they are more mature… I just wanted more and more... An entire day of XMEN J
P.s- Sorry for the bad English. I´m Portuguese so sorry for mistakes and grammar errors...
Enjoy the movie... I did… A LOT 10/10 FOR ME

Awesome review! I loved the movie also!

Him and storm are currently going out in the comics so why not. And there was that episode in the alternate future in the 90's where they were together. haha
There's also at least one comic book alternate universe where they're together and have kids in the future.

My thoughts on X Men Days Of Future Past

The movie as a whole was so good.. I really enjoyed it and I am so happy that it included both casts. I must admit that I favor the original cast way more than I do the reboot cast. But I love X Men as a whole so I will always support it.

"The Past"
Young Professor X "Charles" - boy was he broken and in terrible need of fixing. He was at his lowest or lows and it showed. I was so glad when he snapped out of it. I am a bit ticked at "Hank" for supporting and going alone with Charles misery. He was like his drug dealer.

Young Beast "Hank"- He just wanted to be normal looking. I get that. In a world where you are feared and hated for having gifts and then being blue on top of it all. He forgot about being "Mutant and proud" but I did love to see him blue and fighting.

Mystique- To see her crying as she say the photos of all her old friends. Sad! She was on a mission and no one was going to stop her. She mostly fought using her legs which was cool to see but my Mystique (Rebecca) uses her whole body.

Young Magneto- I was not a fan of him at all. I mean I just couldn't do him. But I like his power displays.

QuickSilver- He was just plain awesome! Every scene he was in was great! I really enjoyed him.

Havok, Ink, "Spyke" and Toad- it was good to see them pop up... But they left so soon.

"The Future"
I don't get why some people are critical of the time one certain character received in the future, when most of the future character had very little screen time and lines. I can say I do wish the future was shown more but to single out Storm for screen time or to say she didn't much, I don't agree.

Professor X- Does it get any better? Professor X is still the leader and mentor he always was. Awesome to see him talking to his past self.

Magneto- I must say I enjoyed him. As soon as they heard the sentinels were approaching he jumped into action. Him stopping most of the metal from the explosion awesome.

Iceman- Him and his ice slide what more could I ask for?

Kitty "Shadowcat"- She played the most important part. Always good to see her phasing and it's cool how her powers evolved. (Not from the comic but I will allow it)

Colossus- As much as I am a fan of his, he was too easily defeated. (But those future sentinels were no joke)

Warpath- He was there personal alarm system. I liked when he know the exact number of sentinel ships that were on the way.

Sunspot- I must say he didn't utter a single word but at the final battle he held his own. He shooting flames everywhere.

Bishop- He was way under used and I would have likes to see him shot a blast from his hands at least once.

Blink- WOW! I love me some Blink. She knows her power and has mastered it. She was good in this movie. Can't wait to see more of her.

And last but not least...

My favorite STORM- She has always been my favorite and she showed up and showed out. Her gale force winds really did slow down the sentinels and made there ships crash into each other and then her and Magneto teaming up to take do many of them out. Powerful and strong. A leader. Professor X felt when she died and Bishops reaction was pure shock.

I really hope there is another movie with the original cast!

Just my thoughts... I wrote this quickly on my way to Church. Please excuse the typos.

24 hours later, one of the moments that has stuck with me the most is when young professor reads Logans mind and you see the flashes from all the movies. Very emotional for anyone who's been a fan of this series the last 15 years or whatever it's been.

I know Apocalypse is a First Class movie, but I wonder if there is any intention of doing X4 now that everything is fixed. That would awesome and if that's Hughs last X men after Wolverine 2, I think that would be fitting.

I loved how Sentinels were a REAL threat. In the opening scene they just BUTCHERED everyone, and of course did the same later on too. It became instantly clear that they can not win by fighting them. I loved that. Creepy bastards, those sentinels.

Anyone else find it completely unbelievable that Mystique never killed anyone before Trask? The way she acts, murder doesn't seem foreign to her and I don't think she'd have been against it after pairing up with Magneto. In the 10 years since that, she never killed once? I call bull

Also how was young Charles able to interact with his Future self? That part made no sense to me
