DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 1

TT.

It should logically be;
A Robin
A Supergirl/boy
A Wondergirl/boy
A Kid Flash
An Aqualad/lass
A speedy/kid arrow
A Cyborg/MM character who takes the roll more or less of communications
as the core members of the team. Have a buncha different side kicks with them doing stuff, sure. Like one issue could be Robin and Aqualad out with a buncha z lister sidekicks shaping them into a force to be rekoned with.

But this whole "the entire TT have never met before and 80% of them aren't white!" just sounds like the worst thing.

I'm pretty sure Aqualad will be the leader. Mainly because it fits with the whole diversity thing and he needs to be showcased because Johns thinks he's a swell character, the same way that Cyborg's one of the league's core members now because Johns love him and he's such a swell character that he has to be on a team because nobody would buy a Cyborg ongoing and just like how Barry is such a swell character that that all other Flashes (especially Wally) have to go into hiding so we can see what a swell character he is and not be distracted by other superior... I mean inferior characters.

I also think that Robin or Red Robin (depending on what still exists and whose still in what costume), Superboy, Kid Flash and Blue Beetle (diversity) are pretty sure bets.

Market? They haven't even announced it. Bleedingcool is reporting that it's happening, no word from DC.

That's a pretty important point to make. The way I've been reading this thread, some reporter from a news site reported 3 non-white characters in the upcming Titans, and SoulLeSS flipped out at the very thought of it. It didn't occur to me that SoulLeSS didn't pay attention to who made the announcement, and simply assumed DC was marketing the team that way.

Aqualad as the leader of the Titans in the comics would make absolutely no sense unless they go retcon-happy. Literally everyone else on the team has more experience than he does. It works on YJ because he's Aquaman's longtime sidekick and by far the most mature of the group.

Since when does it have to make sense you have been watching what they have been doing the last couple of years right?

Wouldn't make any less sense than the cover for the first issue of the Justice League sticking Cyborg on the cover amongst all the heavy hitters with any other B or C listers entierly absent and minus Martian Manhunter.

Also, looks like we might be getting the lowdown on Bat-titles tomorrow *fingers crossed*.

looking at that cover...it looks like a gate fold or part one of a multiple cover thing...there are 14 members on the team...7 on one 7 on the other

Possibly. That would sit a bit better with me. But until it we see anything else it just bugs me.

Where? I want to see where Tim lands...

In Bleeding Cool's post with the cover for Batman 1 hinted that we'd hear who was writing it tomorrow. Don't know if they're just gonna say it or if DC's planning on announcing it or what, but I assume they'll announce all the Batfamily titles together whenever it is that there's an official announcement.

If Blue Beetle, Supergirl, and Damian are on te team, I'll have to buy it.
If they are in the team and its even decently writen it will be my favourite book. I love those guys.
Yet people are okay with Dick and Bruce both being Batman and wearing costumes that are just as similar as Barry and Wally's most recent costumes. Mostly it's like you said, Wally fans (for some crazy reason) have a death fetish for Barry.

Wally is a total Silver Age character. He was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, whose work most hardcore "love Wally/kill Barry" fans would hate if they even knew who they were.
Speaking for myself, i'm mad that Barry came back and Wally got completely banished, in stark contrast to Bruce and Dick sharing books. I mean at least they could have put Wally in the JL along with Dick, Donna and SG to complete the generation 2 they had going on.
He wrote X-Men in the 90's. He was a pretty good writer then as I remember, especially with characterization. He wrote Scott and Jean's wedding as I recall. Haven't read anything from him recently.
That's good to hear! Thanks!
Wow. That would be a pass for me. Dear God, I would pass on that so hard.
What, you'd rather have Superboy and Tim being perfect in everything? That's boring.

But eh, to each their own.

No, I'd rather have Superboy and Tim being Superboy and Tim, both of whom are very, very far from being perfect.

I've lost track of who has and hasn't met among the younger superheroes, but Batman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman all have non-white sidekicks. Robin is Arab, Impulse is Korean, Aqualad is black, and Miss Martian is green (okay, so she's really a White Martian, but that hardly counts as "white" in the same sense of the word).
Damian is half Arab and half white.
The whole way it was marketed though when I read the solict or the blurb on it was this whole MINORITY ROCKS! thing and goddamn does that sound awful.

Not that minorities are bad, but you don't give me a book with Chong Chun the asian math master, Zumbac Tqueni the expert hunter who can run really fast and jump really far but not quite superhuman levels, Heratio Sanchez the lazy guy on the team and Vladimir Rustonavic the quite (or raging like a crazy russian) strong guy who knows too much about war and guns just because they're miorities and it would be totally unracist to do that. You put them together because there's actually a reason.

As it stands, I can't help but think they're going to come up with 2 -3 new members that have never been seen before and are new parts of a legacy but are of-a-varying-race-that-has-nothign-really-to-do-with-the-past-character-kinda-like-how-Jamie-was-just-a-random-mexican-kid-who-was-in-the-wrong-place-at-the-wrong-time, as well as combing through all the "who the **** is that?" sidekicks to find a few non-whites to accompany the "real heroes".
I agree. Its forced.

As for Jaime, he isnt a direct sidekick or successor to Ted, so yeah the beetle just randomly picked him. I'd love a Spiderman style Beetle book btw.

Meh, they re totally boring to me. And Tim hasnt been writen as anything but perfect for 2-3 years.

Yeah i guess. Will comic noobs know that to "identify with this racialy diverse character"? They should hit them over the head with it.

Damian is half Arab and half white. I agree. Its forced.
Damian is more Chinese than Arab. Ra's al Ghul was born from a tribe that is essentially a mix of Arab and Chinese ancestry and Talia's mother was also half-Chinese. So with Talia being more Chinese than Arab, along with Damian's Asian features more prominent, I would say that Damian is more Asian than Arab.

lulz, 'kay. :awesome:
No seriously, Nicieza's run has been a total *********ion about Tim. Like... everyone admits it. I dunno, if they make him something more than the poster boy that everyone but Damian loves, whose brain, leadership, detective and fighting skills are perfect, then maybe i'll be interested in him.

I'd love if they did something with him other than "wow he's awesome", i really would. And if he's gay, then get him out of the closet, but get him laid already, one way or the other. Jesus!

Chinese? Where did that come from? I thought Ras was from the middle east.

It's all just one Big land mass, especially the farther back you go.

Only you and other people that don't especially like Tim "admit" that. And by "admit" I mean revel in your perception of it as such. Niceiza writes Tim as good at his job--which he should be after so many years--but still deeply flawed, with a tendency to overreach.

I... don't even know what you're talking about in that second paragraph. I'm not all that interested in Tim's romantic attachments.

When did he ever overreach and have his plans fail? The book has no direction or central plot. Tim jumps from one thing to the other with random villains popping up (like Catman... jesus) and the whole thing goes nowhere besides "Tim made it again". Sorry, i dont find that interesting.

Its not that i dont like him, i dont like how he's been writen ever since RIP.

Well yeah i dont read comics for that either, but they have to make up their minds about that.

Yeah but its a ginormous land mass and Chinese people arent the same as Arabic people.

But they moved around freely and intermingled, which is where the Chinese/Arab part of his ancestory comes from. What's not to understand? Ras is the result of some Arab and Chinese people f**king.

But eh, to each their own.

Well, I will say they didn't do right by Wally and they haven't for years, which is strange since they found a place for Kyle. But I guess Kyle did better because Johns had his whole Go-Go Power Rangers with the Lanterns thing going. But IF they had a clue, and IF they knew how to handle the Flash family, then Barry and Wally would both have books and Jay and Bart would be major supporting characters in their books, but it's not my fault and it's not Barry Allen's fault that Geoff Johns can't write.

It's amazing is that they've let Wally's popularity, Barry's importance to Pre-Crisis fans and the amazing Kid Flash visual all go to waste. Idiots.

If you look at the difference between Wally West in the DCU of the past few years as opposed to the importance of Dick Grayson, then you see the difference between Geoff Johns and Grant Morrison as writers.
