DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 1

I was thinking about that and it wont work. YJ has the first sidekicks and in the DCU Dick is an adult and is now Nightwing, Wally is... well somewhere, etc.

The best thing they can do is
a) Keep YJ cartoon and have its comics placed in the same seperate universe. So no DCU YJ, just on that seperate universe.
b) Reboot YJ cartoon based on DCU YJ team which i assume would involve Damian as Robin, whatever Kid Flash we end up with, Aqualad, etc.

tl;dr confusing **** right there!

Or just have one YJ book be YJ: The Animated Adventures and one regular YJ book....Not as if we have never had books on animated shows at the same time with regular dc books. Batman/Superman/Justice League...

All of those will be canceled within a year and a half.

Everything else I'm probably buying. :(

OK, I am totally against this stupid reboot. But if I were to buy anything, it would have to be

Green Arrow
Batgirl (FINALLY THE REAL BATGIRL RETURNS!)
Animal Man
Swamp Thing
Dark JLA

Still only 5 DC books, down from my current 15. Net loss = -10. Good job alienating old time readers DC!

Firestorms creative team sounds pretty awesome. Van Scivers name sells, I think it will be around.

Yeah and if his writing is as quality as his art it should be pretty damn good.

Why would you buy those, and not Batman (Scott Synder is phenomenal), Justice League International (Dan Jurgans has been written solid Booster stories for like 3 years now), or anything by the pretty awesome Jeff Lemire?

Not that I'm judging. Just curious.

Red Lanterns, JL Dark, Demon Knights, and Firestorm are among my favourites, and Dark in particular has fans all excited. I hope they re not cancelled.
His name sells as a ARTIST.
What is it with goddamn artists and their vanity to write comics?

Writing isnt simple, it has rules, it has a way of doing it. You dont just write fanfiction like fangirls do. That's why Finch is a hack writer that just threw everything into a mixer and came up with his story.

Hm yeah, but those books were in Timm's design style so it was easy to tell them apart. I dont know if it will be that easy to seperate a cartoon YJ book from a DCU one.

Dark I'm actually 50/50 on. I could see that lasting.

I guarantee Demon Knights won't last long. Unless they pull a Jonah Hex on it.

Mike Oeming's a pretty solid writer. Maybe even as good a writer as he is an artist, if his Thor work is any indication.

Ethan Van Sciver, though, isn't even a particularly good artist, as far as I'm concerned. If his writing is as good as his art, I shudder to think of how awful that comic will be. :oldrazz:

Writing is definitely simple. Anyone can do it given the right amount of time and desire.

What's he writing again?

I think he's a good artist btw.

Well yeah, but there's writing and writing.

So far here's the titles I'm interested in:

Batman (by Snyder)
Batman & Robin
Justice League
Swamp Thing
Ressurection Man
Red Hood and the Outlaws
Nightwing
Batgirl
Batwoman
DC Presents Featuring Deadman
Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern: New Guardians
Red Lanterns
Justice League International

Now, obviously I can't afford all or even half of these, but I'm at least going to skim each of these. I'm debating on dropping all the Green Lantern titles but I'm still debating on that one. I'm thinking it'll end up being something like this:

Buying:
Batwoman
Batman & Robin
Justice League

Most Likely Buying:
Batman (Snyder)
Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern: New Guardians
Red Lanterns

Might Buy if Budget Allows (at least 1st issue):
Swamp Thing
Justice League: International
Red Hood and the Outlaws
Batgirl

Will Skim But Will Likely Pass On:
Nightwing
Resurrection Man
DC Presents

Series I'm definitely buying:
Aquaman
Batgirl
Batman
Batman and Robin
Batwoman
The Flash
Green Lantern
Justice League
Justice League International
Swamp Thing
Wonder Woman

Series that I'd like to get, but I'm not spending the money on:
Captain Atom
Green Arrow
Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern: New Guardians
Nightwing
Wonder Woman

Things I'm definitely buying

Animal Man
Batman: Leviathan
Batwoman
Demon Knights
Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
Justice League Dark
Swamp Thing
Wonder Woman

And I hope they pull of some miracle sale numbers. Seriously the world would be a better place if they can go as long as Wolverine Origins. Well at least Morrison's Batman and, hopefully, Superman will least a while.

Series I'm definitely buying:
Aquaman
Batgirl
Batman
Batman and Robin
Batwoman

Green Arrow
Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern: New Guardians
Nightwing
Wonder Woman

I will give WW a try. I really really hope that its good. Diana deserves to have one of the best books out there and its their best chance to give it to her. Still, Azzarello worries me. I mean he could be amazing, but we havent seen him in any high octane "out there" stories have we?

They should have gotten Cornell or Morrison.

Azzarello wrote Dr. 13: Architecture & Mortality which is pretty out there and crazy. He does gritty, crime stuff most of the time but Azzarello has plenty of range.

I WILL NOT buy anything called Batman #1 or Detective #1. Thats just WRONG! Thats a prefect jumping off point for me! I have a run of Batman and Detective comics going back to the late 70s. DC had to go and ^%$##@! that all up, so I return the favour.

Ok, Jeff Lamire, what has he done comicwise? (he did some movies yes?) And I would prob. add animal man and aquaman to that list. Demon knight I would look at as I would Wonder Woman.

Sweet Tooth, the recent Atom stories and the Superboy series.

Eventually, they're gonna go back to the old numbering, (Probably by the time it hits 900 or 1000 or whatever its supposed to be at.) so when they do, you're gonna have massive gaps. Then you'll feel bad. Start to cry. It wont be pretty. :o
