DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 10

If I got my comics for free, I'd be reading it too. :o

Crap, I forgot it was getting the boot. I was looking forwardto seeing him use the new "battle modes" he learned. Ah well.

Man... still undecided if I want to pick that up. I like cosmic stuff but have no history with DC's cosmic (save Green Lantern) and I need another book like a hole in the head, let alone a $4 one.

I need to drop some stuff and just really don't want to :(

I'm gonna try Threshold. Hopefully Giffen ignores everything since the relaunch and just writes Jaime like he did back at the start of his and Rogers' series. Giffen's the kind of guy who'd do just that, too.

So, this is funny:

DC put on their facebook page a poll asking people how they want DC to handle continuity. the choices were something like either to let it unfold naturally in the books as they progress, have special character issues that highlight continuity, or you could write in an option for other people to vote on. well, people overwhelmingly wrote in and voted to get rid of the New52 and go back to the old continuity. At which point the poll disappeared from the DC facebook page, ha ha.

lol.......truth hurts.........doesn't it?

they want it to revert to old continuity so they can not-read-it again?

I'm not the BIGGEST fan if this reboot but I believe DC readership is the highest it's been in years, why would we sacrifice that so that we can have the old continuity back to whine about? Why not just release a definitive explanation of this DCU's history? Get the editors in one room and hash it out, is that so damn hard? Have it be a 50 page compilation illustrated by Jim Lee and written by the editors of each book. Charge $10 and boom old and new fans a like can just have something to refer too.

I don't think it's unreasonable to want the characters we actually cared about - Wally West, Steph Brown, etc. - restored. They didn't even get proper send offs, which is just plain disrespectful to their legacies in the DCU and their fans.

Wow.....imagine that.
:applaud
Believe it or not I really do not get pleasure from saying how much DC sucks right now, but it does.

What did they think was going to happen asking a question like that on the Internet? :oldrazz:

I was a more recent DC fan. I got hooked right around Infinite Crisis and started digging deeper and deeper into the universe. So there were a few things about the New 52 that irked me. Like the complete disappearance of Wally West and his kids, etc. The great Booster Gold series we had that was just dropped dead. However, what else can you do? The best thing you can do is vote with your wallet. From what I've seen DC has been doing pretty well even this deep into the 52...so, I wouldn't expect it to be going anywhere anytime soon.

I'd say the big name titles are better, but all of the lower tier books are much, much worse.

Which kinda sucks cuz usually the lower tier titles are waaay better than the big name ones. :o

Eh, it's the same as it ever was. Some of the big name books are good, some suck. Same with the smaller books.

JewishHobbit... years ago - "I can't believe this OMD stuff! I'm going to vote with my wallet and drop Spider-Man right now!"

Years later...

JewishHobbit - "Hey look at that, nothing's changed and Spidey's selling at the best it's been in years. So glad that whole "voting with your wallet" thing works."

Note, is to the voting with your wallet concept, not at SpideyInATree personally. I wish the concept worked but it doesn't. Not individually.

Well, let's see. From what I've read, here's what's gotten better or worse...

Action - Better now.
Batman - Bad, but still better than Daniels run.
Detective - About the same (as the Black Mirror).
The Flash - Much better.
Green Lantern - The same.
Justice League - Mediocre, but still better.
Superman - Better... Strangely.
Wonder Woman - Much better.

Lower tier:
Batgirl - Worse.
Batman and Robin - Better.
Batman: TDK - Better.
Batwoman/Detective - Worse.
Birds of Prey - Not too bad, but still worse.
Blue Beetle - Worse.
Booster Gold/JLI - Worse.
Earth 2/JSA - Better.
Green Arrow - Worse.
GL Corps - Worse.
Nightwing - Worse.
Superboy - Worse.
Supergirl - Better.
Teen Titans - Inexplicably worse.

Of course, DC does have some lower tier successes that it didn't have before - Animal Man, Batwing, I, Vampire, etc... But then DC also canceled books equally as good pre-N52 - Red Robin, REBELS, etc.

Snyder's Batman bad? What are you smokin'?!

And I'd say Green Lantern's improved a great deal. Brightest Day through the end of that series was mediocre at best... and it was getting worse by the issue. New 52's made it a lot more interesting, though the current Simon Baz arc is a bit of step in the wrong direction.

And was there a Nightwing pre-New 52? That title ended a year or two before the relaunch due to his becoming Batman.

That's pretty much voting in general. The only opinions that matter are the ones the majority agrees with.
