DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 2

This reboot is starting to confuse me, because apparently, some of these titles from the articles I've read to the solicitations suggest that these #1 will not be starting over from the beginning (in other words, no exploding Kyrpton, baby Kal-El sent to Earth for Superman, no revisiting Bruce Wayne's tragic parents death for Batman), but well be getting a sort of Brand New Day thing where everything has happened already, and whatever changes occurred already did and the stories are just going to go on from there.

Then on the other hand I'm told that at the same time some of these stories ARE brand new, changed, redone origins, like how Blue Beetle and Hawkman are coming of as.

THEN, there are the titles that sound as if nothing has changed at all, and their events are continuing as if the DC continuity was completely uneffected by Flashpoint, such as the Lantern books.

So what, are selected characters affected by Flashpoint while others aren't?

also, I'm confused on the continuity. Are some characters keeping their continuity while others get rebooted??

Yeah. We asked the exact same question almost at the same time. So its not just me, then.

sooo.........have any of the writers commented on Raven showing up in the relaunch?

also, I'm confused on the continuity. Are some characters keeping their continuity while others get rebooted??

From what I gather, everyone will be keeping their continuity for the most part, only with some small adjustments and alterations here and there. Basically allowing for origin retellings, de-aging of characters, or cutting some of the loopy stuff from the 90s or whatever that people have had to write around. More of a Zero Hour style continuity tidy-up than hitting the "restart" button for anyone.

Yep I am very glad they won't be rebooting any of these characters

Ya know, Hal needs this more than anyone. Just to erase that whole Parallax ramapage/died/years as the Spectre silliness from his history.

Basically we are back to "what is so and so's origin now?" just like after crisis. But this better be the last time DC messes with wahtever origins they give these characters for 10 years.

Might as well.

And they shoudlve just gone with the "Ultimate" Superman look with a little changes.

I'm really excited about these books.

I think WW will also be a good book. They have shown that they want her to get back on her feet and they ve really been trying. This has to be good. In Azzy i trust.

They....have?

Tony Daniel on Detective comics and Hawkman

I do like the sound of Morrison's influence helping Daniel and i wish him the best, i enjoyed Life after Death, Battle for the Cowl has errors here and there and it was overall a rushed editorial effort but i found it more enjoyable than Road Home, tho it's nothing majorly big either, his Sensei arc was fun "big trouble in lil'chinatown" and his Two-Face arc is also off a good start.

Hawkman getting an arch enemy sounds good, since the one he more or less had as Arch nemesis is now long gone... and so is Hawkgirl. :( Hawks only natural enemies are bigger eagles/hawks, so i if we wanna go Animal Kingdom wise i guess Hawkman will face a meaner Hawkman? :p

Wonder Woman by Azzarello sounds sort of interesting so I will definitely be checking that out

Not sure if he is the best choice to write a character like Wonder Woman though
I agree. I'd love it if Morrison or Cornel wrote a story like Inc or Lex's Action Comics, you know a fun adventure across the world. Apparently Morrison's pitch was too crazy and DC turned it down. I'd love to see it as an All-Star WW book though. It might be amazing!

Everyone will get at least one issue recaping their history and making it easier for new readers to get into it. Some heroes will stay the same, some will get refined, some will be reworked from the ground up. So we just have to wait and see.

Can we just go ahead and call Flashpoint a Crisis?
I dont know, does it count as one?

Anyway, i find Flashpoint a very, very enjoyable story.
They....have?
Yes. They brought JMS to "fix" her, they been trying new things with her costume, they ve tried to make a TV series about her, and now they re rebooting her again and giving her a good writer... There's been a lot of movement going on in this franchise and it seems to me that they re trying to get her out of the corner.

What happened to Lion-Mane? Or Shadow Thief even?

Not arch nemesis quality i take it, tho yeah Shadow Thief and Gentleman Ghost are kinda "big" it was Hath-set who was the arch evil really, but he's gone now.

Well, sure, they've tried things in the sense that they've tried to do stuff, but I really don't any huge effort outside the same ol', same ol' quick fix tries that the character has been through for years now. If they legitimately were trying to do something, they'd do for her what they did for GL. Azz is a good writer, but another quasi-reboot, another 'new, bold take', just seems like a Tuesday for Wonder Woman.

Yeah, but before this they had just left her there to sell badly. They got Simone and it didnt work out, so they re rebooting her hoping to do better. Perhaps that might be the thing that will bring WW back to the forefront, like Johns was for GL. I think that's good news and if this WW sticks then she'll stay and they wont need to get another writer to re-re-re-reboot her.

Haha, you do know that before Simone they relaunched and did a quasi-reboot then, too, don't you? With a bold, new take and all the trimmings?

They need to actually give WW to someone who understands the character and make her great. Which really hasnt happened with the tv series or Odyssey.

And maybe if they let Simone redesign WW like she wanted to, things may have been a little different.

Yeah i know. Each writer would go his own way and WW would be all over the place. But i'm hoping that with FP and the relaunch they ve settled to the new WW that will be here to stay. One can only hope you know?

Oh, you can hope, but it probably won't. I'm hoping Azz will provide a good story, but at this point, it's just kind naive to expect any kind of run away success and permanent fixture with the character. What will happen will be what's been happening for decades now. They'll try something 'new' and 'bold', it won't sell what DC wants it to, editorial will scratch their heads while looking for the next magic quick fix that'll instantly rocket the title into the Top 10, which won't happen, rinse and repeat. The best I've come to hope for the character until this editorial is some good stories set between the constant fluxing.

All she ever said that she wanted to give her a new costume but DC was against it.

And holy LOL on that Dark JL solit. Not even the combined forces of SM/BM/WW/Cyborg? can defeat blah blah blah. Ok DC you are trying a little to hard to jump Cyborg into the major spotlight.

i think the great lord Darksied says it perfectly
(since marvel has been gobbled up by the Mouse and now utterly a cesspool of ideas thanks to the idiocricy of Quesada and his rule)

im just waiting for the Dc titles to admit they are failures in the next 2 years

also IF ANY ONE HAS THE actual article about why every female character has to have a NON-sexy/alluring costume Remake please let us know. because i was under the impression that DC wasnt located in the CONSERVATIVE bible belt of america
