DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 2

The excuse about continuity stopping you from getting into the comics is absurd.

Why do you need to know every bit of history to get into a book? Just pick up a book, if you like it, carry on reading it.

Hickman's F4 for example. The F4 have been around for decades, but I picked up Hickman's first issue after not reading the F4 for years. It was easy to read.

The idea that continuity and history is a hinderance is ****ing ridiculous to be honest. It can be a hinderance, in the hands of a ****** writer. But it can also either be not mentioned or it can be used as a tool to craft great stories.
No. Not every story is as simple as reading from page 1 and you're all smooth sailing. There are quite a few arcs that rely on past history to understand or clear up matters happening in the current story.

Sure, it's possible to do it. But you inevitably feel like you're getting a muddled experience because you're not caught up. It's why I've ultimately given up on the 616 X-Men.

Boos**t. Granted, the X-Men's continuity is f**ked up, but not that hard to understand.

If you're gonna give up on the X-Men, then do it cuz X-Men sucks. Like me.

yep. i did that a long time ago. my only regret is that i didnt do it sooner.

God damnit. Superman and Lois just got OMD'd. Not happy.

Eh. I wish they didn't do this way but I do think Supes should be single again.

Didio confirmed that they are exploring other areas of Lois and Clark's relationship.

I gave up on X-Men because I can't stand Wolverine and they ruined Cyclops. So I quit years ago and retconned the series as ending in Uncanny #138 with Jean dead and Scott quitting the team in my mind.

But yeah, buy a comic and if you like it, then you'll figure out what the deal is with the characters. Mostly I've stuck with DC because I just like their characters a little more, although they've pissed me off more as well. But they don't have a character like Wolverine overshadowing everyone else-I know they've done it with Batman, but I grew up for years reading Batman being treated as a equal with his peers, not the Batgod we all know.

so much about that article is so misguided and frustrating. but this here is the most stupid and non-sensicle of the lot:

"[Lois and Clark's relationship] is something that is so valuable to the character's story that you really want to explore all facets of it. Not just as it exists currently.”

He sounds like a ****ing politician.

Hahaha, that dumb ****head.

Literally 80 years or whatever of exploring the least-interesting phase of Lois and Clark's relationship was just not nearly enough.

Interesting relationships are overrated. That's obviously why there are so many in comics. :o

I don't think superheroes should get married. But I also think if they are married then shouldn't break them up without reason and without a good story to explain why they broke up.

If they're talking about exploring other facets of their relationship, I can only assume it's code for the Friend Zone.

Nothing awesome like Friends with Benefits or Bang Maid. :o

Remember when Spider-Man was married, and manbabies everywhere were like ABOO BOO BOO, SPIDER-MAN CAN'T BE MARRIED, MAKE HIM SINGLE AGAIN, and then they did it, and... it was ****ing stupid, and everything related to him being single was boring as ****, and the only things related to him being even slightly interesting had nothing to do with his terrible relationships at all?

Have fun, Superman!

I'm actually glad because ending the marriage should kill off the last emotional connection I had to these characters and I can be left with the pure enjoyment of laughing at DC's ****ty comics and the people who pay money to read them.

The Quite Remarkable X-Fellows

The Boisterous X-Lads

The Rowdy X Boys

The Epic X Ladies

The Inebriated X-Alcoholics

I always go through phases where I dont get any marvel at all but then jump back into getting x-men, avengers ____ and whatever else I find interesting.

I am really digging x men comic books and the Young Avengers series

Nubs puts it all in perspective in one fell poop.

It's a skill that 'Nubs has :fhm:
