DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 3

I would've loved to see a Wildcats series. I want more Hadrian.

The best way IMO to show the WildStorm Universe integrated with the DC Universe would have been titles for WildC.A.T.S., Stormwatch, Wetworks, and Gen13.

That said, I also think that DC should also publish more Milestone books for Hardware, Xombi, and Icon considering that they own the characters now and did a poor job integrating them into the DCU.

In fairness I guess the name is pretty dated, they should really go ahead and rename it Gen Z or Gen Tween or whatever they're calling kids these days.

I never read Welcome to Tranquility because I have room in my existence for caring about exactly one Wildstorm thing and the space is already taken by Gen 13 :o
F*** that, you should read some of Joe Casey's Wildcats too. And then Welcome to Tranquility.

DC The Source blog revealed some of the characters for Demon Knights and Stormwatch:

DEMON KNIGHTS:

  • Etigran the Demon
    Shining Knight,
    Madam Xanadu,
Al Jabr (NEW CHARACTER: the medieval playboy inventor)
Clytemnestra (NEW CHARACTER, mysteriously independent from her people on the Island of the Amazons, the greatest archer of her age, who makes her way through Europe, staying apart, able to ride but not to walk.)
    Vandal Savage

STORMWATCH:

  • Martain Manhunter (who has "conflicted warrior feelings about how super heroes do what they do.")
    Jack Hawksmoor
    Apollo
Midnighter (he and Apollo are meeting for the first time)
Jenny Quantum (who ages with the century she’s the spirit of)
The Engineer ("better qualified to lead her team that the man who actually leads it")
Adam One, (NEW CHARACTER, the leader "who’s been aging backwards since the Big Bang, the master of tactics who… forgets things and isn’t that great at convincing people he knows what he’s doing")
The Projectionist (NEW CHARACTER, "the voice of and god of the internet")
The Eminence of Blades, (NEW CHARACTER, "the universal master of bladed weapons, who has terrible doubts.")

As for their concepts:

I'm really liking the concepts of the Stormwatch characters. I also love Cornell's run on Action Comics, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

Dude, your existence sucks. It can only hold one thing? Everybody else can hold at least seven things. Time to upgrade or something. :o

didnt they say there were gonna be more books coming

All my other slots are allocated to non-Wildstorm things.

So you mean to tell me you never read Planetary?

Planetary is probably the best thing to come out of Wildstorm. It turned me into an unrelenting Warren Ellis fanboy. Well, that and Transmetropolitan and that free FreakAngels webcomic of his.

- DC just announced that they are done writing for trades:

"Another change DC is making is that they won’t be ‘writing for the trade’ anymore. Writers have been told to write the story they want to write and not worry about the trade collecting. If they can tell a well-paced story in 4 issues, they’ve been told not to pad it to make it 6 issues. Editorial can worry about how it’s going to be collected. Going forward, books will be trade-collected depending on how the story fits. If a book has a 4-issue arc followed by a 3 issue arc, the trade will collect both. If it’s 2 4-issue arcs or 3 2-issue stories, those will get collected. As a side note, DC is looking into a new trade dress to represent the New 52 and a better spine design to call out information for fans."

- The Death of Superman is also still in continuity. So Superman continuity isn't being completely rebooted.

- Scott Snyder being moved onto Batman is being treated as a promotion for the writer based on the incremental growth Detective Comics was receiving.

- Dan DiDio thinks that Stephanie Brown works better as the Spoiler.

I pretty much agree with all of this.

Hopefully if the Death of Superman is still in continuity then so is Superman's real costume. Obviously since the Legion isn't being rebooted, his time there as Superboy must still be in continuity as well, which is another good sign.

If they could settle that stupid lawsuit and make Maggin or Waid the Superman editor (or hire someone they recommend) then Superman might have a chance again.

They need to settle that ****ing lawsuit.

If Death of Superman is still in continuity I wonder how they will explain Conners seemingly new origin.

so Superman's continuity is not a complete reboot??

that's just so..............confusing...........ugh.

I mean, weren't Lois and Clark married during the Death of Superman storyline ( or did they marry afterwards...........I don't remember ).

Apollo and Midnighter had better be a couple in this series or I won't be buying it. Those two were my favourite characters in the Wildstorm series

- DC will not renumber Detective Comics or Action Comics once they reach their anniversary issues.

- Each title is guaranteed six issues.

- Not all the redesigns of character are final. Here's to hoping that DC has some common sense and restore Superman's costume.

For anyone who legitimately believes this, I also have a fine bridge to sell them on the moon. Very fine price, very good position.

Uhhh... can't we have a little romance first? Yeesh. Just like a woman. No foreplay and right to the climax.

Yeeesh.

:o

:ff: :ff: :ff:

"It's Apollo, right? Hi, I'm Midnighter!"
"I love you..."
"I love you too!"
"Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm."

My hopes for the relaunch
