DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 5

The thing with a timeline is that most people have only a vague idea of the history of the Post-Crisis DCU, and most of the really important events seem to still have happened.

Or just, you know. **** the timeline. Enjoy the stories.
I wouldn't do that if I were you. DC has ****ed the timeline so many times, it'd probably be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway.

Isn't this the cover for Green Arrow #1?

They can draw upon a character's past when that helps them to build some new angle they are going for, and ignore whatever they feel isn't relevant. It's like a new character in any kind of fiction where some backstory is established/referenced but it wasn't ever told in an original story that you could read, just a plot point used to advance a current story now. That's why I don't think it matters that it wasn't a full-on reboot. The timeline doesn't matter until it matters.

That's a very sloppy way to tell stories in an ongoing, interconnected universe.

Personally, I still don't think the reboot was warranted at all. The fact that it's turning out to be mostly okay doesn't change that.

The idea that because the response has been positive somehow justifies this experiment is silly.

This whole thing was designed to get new readers.

If they do that long term, then you can break out the champagne and call this a success. But right now, all I'm seeing are the same old comic heads being satisfied, and I've yet to hear about new fans, not marvel fans who've never read dc, but actual new fans being satisfied about all this.

The simple fact is, if DC wanted this to work the way they wanted it to, they should've done a lot more to make accessible comics.

Like I said. Band Aid on bullet wound.

Pretty good week for new comics this week

Legion of Superheroes is :awesome: sauce and I just cannot wait to see where this new story arc is going. Love Paul Levitz on this series and I'm loving the artwork too

Batman was great Snyder's new story definitely has my interest

Wonder Woman and Birds of Prey are both off to good starts as well and though they weren't perfect I'll definitely be sticking with them

If Snyders Batman isnt the greatest thing ever, everyone in the bat thread is getting a batarang to the face :oldrazz::yay::woot:

Was Snyder's first issue fairly self-contained, like Gates of Gotham? I really want another series like what Dini was doing with Detective and then Streets of Gotham. Just good, self-contained Batman mysteries with a few of the old, familiar psychos popping up in interesting ways.

red hood was decent and could be interesting but one thing annoyed me, so we take starfire a character that is known for her loyalty to friends and family and turn her in to nothing but a **** toy that forgets people when she's through

I've always wondered: what exactly happened between Nightwing and Kory back in the day? Because DC says that is still cannon.

What was the first issue in Alan Moore's run where it was revealed that his version of the swamp thing was a monster instead of a human turned monster?

according to red hood 1, they hooked up did nothing but screw and she can't remember who dick is now, because it means nothing to her species

Not really...for me, its more like I didnt really give a **** when it was announced, and i dont really give a **** now. Like I said, this is a band aid on a bullet wound. Reboot or no, comics were/are in serious trouble, and reboot or not, I still plan on bouncing when Morrison leaves Batman.

Agree with you on the band-aid on a bullet wound. The problems with comics run so deep a reboot alone ain't gonna cut it.

Seriously, it looks like the same old audience is buying comics, not the new readers this relaunch is supposed to be for. But that could be due to the twenty-year-old distribution issues at retail Didio and Co refuse to acknowledge.

:cmad::facepalm:

I guess all those New Teen Titans issues I read about Dick and Kory's relationship mean nothing now. It happened, but it doesn't matter because DC says so. :csad:

She's an alien that means we can write her as a vapid **** and it's totally in character!!

its superbly funny in a bad way.

here first conversation with roy is basicly

SF: do you want to have sex
R: arnt you going with jason
SF: does that matter
R: how do you make love to a Tamaranean
SF first love has nothing to do with it

its like a 12 year old wrote her character

The more things change at DC the more they stay the same. Love the fact that the Misogyny is still part of the corporate culture.

In between Kory's retconned promiscuous behavior and Harley's outfit. It's only a matter of time before there's another woman stuffed in a refrigerator. :csad:
