DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 6

As expected DC's New 52 books this week continues to make me content.

Then there's Marvel. Who I haven't recently tried to get back into and give more of a "shot" than the past. Just read one of their comics this week and...ugh:

Marvel's Point One Supersized-comic = P.O.S. (Piece of s***). How fitting.

At least Daredevil has been entertaining but I was enjoying DD before Shadowlands with Marvel anyway so not a REAL shocker.

Waid got me back in DD heavily; that book is a blast. Rucka's Punisher finally picked up and I was very close to dropping it. Slott's Amazing Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man comic books have been in a decade (I completely left the books early on with JMS). S.H.I.E.L.D. is very good provided you read EVERYTHING though; and FF continues the greatest Fantastic Four run in almost 20 years.

Aside from that though; yeah I'm pretty eh about Marvel. Even though I was always more of a DC fan (Bats & Supes are the best) I always bought a lot of books from both companies. However Marvel kept doing things that I just couldn't roll with (Avengers Disassembled; cancelling X-Man and Mutant X and contradicting the impact of Sentry's original mini by ****ting on it with having the character return amongst many other thing) and I dropped them permanently after Civil War until recently.

Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Deathlok, Punisher, Daredevil Avengers, X-Men, Hulk, Thor
& the late Mark Gruenwald's Cap runespecially were huge staples in my childhood but now I find most of the "top dog" Marvel titles and many of the fringe ones lacking too much for me to pay $4 a pop.

I'm sure he'll be fine. He'll probably come out as the new yellow entity and Sinestro will bow down before him. It's Johns, after all.

I'd be cool with it happening every issue. I'm loving sinestro as the lead. When hal is finally back on top I'll sadly be dropping this.

I'll be interested to see if Sinestro stays a Green Lantern permanently or if he's going to wind up going back to villainy in the end

I'd rather see him as the hero and hal become a villain, but it's johns so it's just a matter of time before they go back and I completely lose interest.

Sinestro doesn't work as a permanent Green Lantern. I think it would work best to have Sinestro return to being the sole wielder of the yellow power or create a new Sinestro Corps that adheres more to his ideals as opposed to the criminals they have resorted being to.

I'm not saying it in any way will, but I could see it working if he was to see some of the errors of his ways and became something of a grey figure of a green lantern. That bridge scene in the first issue where he just owned how to use the ring properly over anything Hal's ever done then he gets thanked and he's all, "please don't bother, just go on living your pitiful life". That right there is a hero I could get behind. Rather than mopey woe is me Hal give me the arrogant and annoyed heroism of sinestro any day. It won't happen though.

He always came off as that to me, maybe I'm a bit skewed from his time as the spectre and killing all the GL corps and such. Actually whiny would be the better term, Hal whine's a lot.

Sinestro really does work well as a grey figure. But I think it would be better done with the yellow ring than the green one. A reworking of the Sinestro Corps, or a solo Sinestro acting the way he currently does would be very compelling.

co-sign the bold. Sinestro Corps has run it's course. I think Johns even sees that but the character himself the way he's been fleshed out since Rebirth is outstanding and strong enough to hold his own. He's too rebellious for affiliations at this point anyway IMO.

I would get behind that.

So he whines? Is he cardboard or does he whine? Which is it?

Hal doesn't whine. That's crap. In this one arc he's been getting the Peter Parker treatment and now he's a notorious whiner? Please. If by whining you mean like Han Solo and Mal Reynolds, then I agree.

And as for all this Sinestro love... let's not forget that he murders people in cold blood. Anyone remember Laira? He was also the fascist dictator of his home planet for a while. Let's hold off on canonizing the "Sinister" one for now.

:hal: :hal: :hal:

And I haven't really seen him whine in this arc. Bad stuff's been happening to him and he's just kind of said "Well... Damn." and went on with his business.

Sinestro murders people, sure, but at least he's relatively humble about it. Unlike Hal "LOOK AT HOW SMUG I AM" Jordan.

Also, murder under your own volition > murder under the influence of cosmic fear roach. :o

Are you sure?

Yeah, it looses all effect now that you know it was a space cockroach making him do it.
