DC to "Rebirth" in June - Part 2

Has The Joker shown up in the main Batman title yet?

I'll miss Tomasi and Gleason.

I’m with you. Tomasi has taken that title and made it incredible. He came in and has given Big Blue more heart than I’ve seen since All Star. I’m afraid this is a big mistake.

Well, Tomasi is possibly going over to 'Tec according to BC.

Sam Humphries is kicking butt on Nightwing. The Judge is a great villain. This has been one of the best storylines I’ve come across in a while.

Has there been any word on the 3 Jokers plot from the Darkseid War?

Nada. I'm anxious to learn more about that whole thing.

I've been waiting for them to introduce the Joker in the main Batman title since Rebirth launched. :funny:

The Swamp Thing special...

It's so weird that they've barely referenced the three Joker's thing since it was revealed. You'd think Batman would make that his priority.

I seem to recall that King was questioned about the three Jokers thing and said that was Geoff Johns' story to tell. So... thinking we're in for a bit of a wait.

Batman has been busy as **** and The Joker hasn't been causing any trouble, so it's all good for now.

I'm guessing they will make this Joker thing its own "big event" latrr this year or next year.

What? How can it be more important to investigate the possibility of 3 dangerous lunatics when you can make Batman and the DC universe to focus on blowing more sugar into the Cat Burglars ass.:whatever::woot:

I assume the 3 joker thing will end up like the "joker without his face" thing.
I just hope that if this or any joker story is starting, it comes from Detective Comics or with a new series.
The less characters King gets allowed to write the better.

The JL series hasn't gotten any better since rebirth started and that's just sad. I really hated the last two Batman books with WW - thank god that's over with now.

The Swamp Thing story in the Young Monsters in Love special was pretty cool, but Tom King's Swamp Thing story in the Swamp Thing Winter Special was the best Swamp Thing has been written and drawn since the mid-90's.

Agreed on the Tom King Swamp Thing story. Pure emotion. That’s some great storytelling.

Careful. Don't let Mani-Man hear that or he might have a conniption.

What? No way.:gngl:
King is a fantastic writer no doubt about it.
He deserves all the credit he gets...just not for anything batman related he wrote.
He simply doesnt understand any of the Characters.

But Swamp Thing or anything else the guy touches is fantastic.
Im in the process of reading it and so far the thing is absolutly great.:yay:

Tom King is a good Writer but he is a awful batman writer.:gngl:

I’m in 100% agreement with you, Mani. Although I will say King is improving in Batman as of late.

I liked the New 52 Swamp Thing tbh. Don't have to go any further back than 2011...

I liked the first few stories in New 52 Swamp Thing. William Arcane was an especially creepy addition. Snyder had some stones to take a little kid who had had such a traumatic existence and turn him into a disturbing villain capable of destroying the world.

I actually think William Arcane and the Court Of Owls May have been the best characters to come out of the New 52.

I'm a die hard Swamp Thing fan. I own every single issue of the character, including peripheral appearances in other books. So I guess it's fair to say I'm a little more invested in Swamp Thing and therefore a bit more fanatical than I am with the likes of Batman or Superman.

The New52 Swamp Thing is where Snyder lost me as a fan of his work. I found his retcon/modification to the Moore run to be wholly arbitrary and ultimately pointless. I don't really care to alternate timeline stories so Rotworld was a huge turn-off. Issues 8 and 9 were pretty interchangeable with his Batman issues 8 and 9 (just two issues of fight sequence), and his villains all spoke with the same vernacular. It was also the start of Snyder's "big, bold, EPIC!!!!!" proclamations.

Snyder's run was the loud, bombastic yet empty action/horror comic. Having Yanick Paquette on art duties really helped keep it bearable. Soule's run started as a nice change of pace but ultimately felt very generic. It felt more like a fluffy superhero comic with a tinge of horror, but had no mood or atmosphere. I thought it was better than Brian K. Vaughn's run, but not by much.

King's one-shot tapped back into the deeper, more personal storytelling of Swamp Thing vol. 2, which was the volume that saw Moore, Nancy A. Collins and even Mark Millar do incredible things with Swamp Thing. That book was filled with the kind of horror that was so subtle and low-key that you didn't realize how truly terrifying it was already crawling under your skin. I also found it much more literate.

But I like King's Batman so what do I know :p
