DC to "Rebirth" in June - Part 2

Does anyone collect the Deluxe hardcovers for the Rebirth stuff, and if so how are they compared to regular paperbacks?
Are they as cumbersome and heavy like regular Omnibus books or are they basically the same dimensions as TPBs, except thicker?

Doomsday Clock was really good this week. Although they felt they should've clarified New 52 Superman as it took him a little longer than the other Superman's to connect with humanity but he still did so by the time he was in Metropolis. He wasn't that distant as Manhattan is trying to give off as he still had his friends and found love. I mean by the end of Morrison's run he was starting to resemble the old Superman. The only thing I think or feel is that Superman Rebirth should've happened after the events of Doomsday Clock. Leading to Superman making everything right in the world again. I think this story should've happened during New 52 bridging everything. And leaving the heroes trying to figure out where to go from here.

Kind of surprised myself that Doomsday Clock this time wasnt bad at all.
I really liked the pacing and the direction.

What else? Oh i find Wonder Woman really "cute" currently...i dont know.
It feels cute...i dont know how to explain it, i enjoy the current arc and the writing.

Justice League is currently my favorite, love the art and when Snyders writing takes off then its something i highly enjoy...but im worried already about the end of the arc since this is where snyder messes up most of the time.

Detective comics is working, nothing to complain there.

Aquaman gets a bit cold for me, the arc is a bit too slow for me and doesnt hit the right notes.

I miss Green Arrow, especially with otto schmidts art...but yeah, in general i miss it.

There are so many things i would like to say about Heroes in Crisis now that its finished, but i fear that i sound like a deranged Tom King hater...which i am not btw.
I was excited when it was annouced he would join DC comics.
I will say that im extremely dissapointed in it, nowadays where mental health, ptsd and so on is a topic that we need to tackle stronger and with more care...Heroes in Crisis is just empty and uses those things like a gimmick and not like a genuine problem that needs to be understood and helped with to overcome.
Its a flat story that has no punch behind it despite wanting to tell us that.

I have to say, while Doomsday Clock #10 gets very exposition heavy, I rather enjoyed it. Also, as I allude to in this review, there's not even an attempt by Geoff Johns at hiding just how meta this issue got. Especially as it flat-out states that the world literally revolves around Superman, or that Dr. Manhattan can better identify with the more isolated and distant New 52 Superman. Or that Wally West acts as a stand-in for the comic book reader who's resistant to editorial mandated changes.

Aquaman is a book that I feel like dropping a week or so after I finish it, but when I read it, I'm totally absorbed by it.

Despite the disagreements over in the "General Comics Discussion Thread" regarding King, I actually agree with you on Heroes in Crisis. I'm not pissed off over what he did to Wally, as I've pointed out elsewhere. But the story had no structure, bad pacing, and no focus. I am curious how much of this story was affected by editorial meddling from DiDio. But having a story where Barbara Gordon and Harley Quinn investigate a murder in a sanctuary for heroes and villains dealing with trauma should have been there from the outset. As it is, Heroes in Crisis is both too short and too long for the story it was trying to tell.

It also seemed stymied by Flashpoint (yet again) and a very convoluted conclusion that still seemed pretty depressing. The fallout of the murder should have been handled in Heroes in Crisis, not in another mini-series, not in Williamson's Flash book, but in the main book in which the murder occurred.

I am it's alright IMO. However I just don't keep up with stuff as much expect for Doomsday Clock. Bendis has really turned me off from comics and seeing DC give Frank Miller a Superman title just scares me.

Yes. The art is nice and I like the fact that so far no one is safe, and it feels like anything can happen. Still, I'm not sure if I'm gonna finish it, since it's not really all that good a story if you ask me.

I really enjoyed the latest Deathstroke issue. It was interesting seeing how everyone reacted to his death. IMO, Deathstroke has been one of the very best rebirth runs, if not the best. Superman written by Tomasi and Super Sons are its closest competition for me (perhaps there are some others that are escaping me ATM).

So what's your take on Event Leviathan? It caught my interest so I looked at the Superman prelude issues first in order not to miss any backstory. I don't normally read Action Comics, and I gotta say the dialogue is so bloody clumsy, why are people repeating themselves so often?
Anyway, the plot itself is pretty interesting and the main Leviathan series (1 issue thus far) was really cool and the art is superb. Really curious to see how it unfolds.

Something I really like about Deathstroke Rebirth is that the supporting characters Wintergreen, Rose, Joseph, Adeline and Tanya Spears, among others are all likeable and/or interesting characters, IMO. Generally, I do not care about supporting characters in stories, but I am invested in most of them in Deathstroke Rebirth.

I really like a lot of what DC is doing lately in terms of comics/events. Loving all of the Black Label stuff (Batman: Last Knight on Earth is great so far) and now this "Year of the Villain" business.

I bought the first Event Leviathan issue but haven't read it yet. Sounds like a cool concept, but the huge involvement of Bendis has me wary.

Oh I agree but Bendis run was so long and did so much damage and I just don't see an end to it. I am going to give Jon as Superman a shot but I still think it should be Conner over Jon.

Its always hard to say when we dont know what kind of stories you like.
Personally i can recommend the whole Scott Snyder batman run, i loved the whole Detective Comics run, Aquaman, Green Arrow.

There were some Arcs here and there from other titles i liked, but to be honest, i could mistake them for the Rebirth run.

Its the curse when you read waaaaaayyy too much comics left and right.
You tend to lose track on where you are. XD

We will see, at the end the next relaunch or what can fix the problems Superman has easily so its only a matter of time before we see Bendis damage be reversed in some way or form.

Tomasi’s Superman run was superb.

I love Forever Evil. I would echo @Mani-Man with Rebirth Green Arrow, the entirety of Detective Comics and Dan Abnett’s Aquaman run. I also loved Dan Jurgen’s Nightwing and Red Hood and the Outlaws was surprisingly my favorite book in Rebirth. I can’t recommend it enough.

I’m not as huge a fan of Scott Snyder’s Batman run. A lot of the stories start strong and then fizzled out for me. Court of Owls is a case in point.

Also, I recommend Tom King’s Mister Miracle. It’s different and self contained, but it’s very provocative.

Tomasi's Superman.

Good Superman stories are rare, but Tomasi's was extremely good. There's *maybe* five writers I trust with Superman. Tomasi earned his place among them with his run.
