The confrontation between Brainiac and the world's most superpowered figures is coming to a head, as SOE announced that a final confrontation with DC Universe Online's premier villain will take place in the game's third DLC pack. Titled The Battle for Earth, the pack will pit players against Brainiac's final avatar, the Avatar of Magic, during a raid on Wonder Woman's home of Themyscira.

To assist players with this new raid, SOE is arming superheroes with the game's ninth powerset: Earth Powers. Earth-using heroes can excel at both tanking and damage by using earthquakes and constructs to bring the pain to enemies.

The core of the pack's storyline will lead players through the struggles against Brainiac as he creates Prime Avatars to conquer the world. The Battle for Earth DLC pack also includes an invasion in South Gotham, another raid, duos, and a Courthouse Alert.

SOE says that the DLC pack is coming "soon" and will be included for Legendary members or available to purchase for Premium and free players. You can check out screenshots from the pack in the gallery below.

So if you beat Brainiac will the game update ? Like the streets are empty with none of his monsters until the next update ?

No clue. It's possible all those things you just asked will still be there and if you want you can help your lower level league members with some cases. To help them level up faster.

I Remember they did say some thing about after this their planning to use Dark side as the next villain though.

Anyone playing this on the PC? Anyone kind enough to donate unused T1 Controller PVE gear? :O I'm not asking for a full set, just one piece of gear would probably help me out a lot.

I mostly do PVP but I've been trying to get back into PVE because I feel like I'm missing out on the storyline. The problem with that is I sold/salvaged all of my PVE stuff and now I can't do the Alerts and other lvl 30 PVE stuff without a high mortality rate or getting kicked which makes me unable to grind for better PVE gear.

Tier gear can't be traded. I've seen a lot of f2p players use their pvp in almost everything in PvE.

Well that sucks. Depending on who you're PUG-ing with, being in PvP gear in Alerts will get your ass voted out. I'm a premium user BTW. Maybe I'll try looking around the auction house.

Its to prevent gold farming. Players with a lot of marks could sell the tier gear for real money, if it was tradable. Yeah, I tend to let players with PvP gear die duos/alerts, especially when they need on every drop. :hq:

Oh so you're one of THOSE players.

Anyways I hate loot ninjas as well. The sweet irony though is that even when I'm doing alerts with players in non-tiered PvE gear, my PvP troller is usually the last man standing.:BA

Is there another cinematic after you beat brainiac? Or is it just one of those comic flashes like the other ones.

DC Universe Online braces for the Battle for Earth

DC Universe Online heroes and villains better prepare for the fight of their lives because Sony Online Entertainment has announced the third DLC pack, Battle for Earth. The DLC will grant players access to a whole new powerset known as Earth Powers. It is what it sounds like, folks. In addition to the new power set, the studio is also adding a brand-new raid: Themyscira. Comic book fans will recognize this as the home island of Wonder Woman and her fellow Amazons. It's up to players to fight alongside a variety of mythical creatures in order to defend Wonder Woman's home against Chimeric Brainiacs.

To top it all off, Battle for Earth's storyline will put players toe-to-toe with Brainiac's Prime Avatars before they go up against the big bad Brainiac himself. Heroes will be fighting, obviously, for the defense of Earth, while villains will want to take Brainiac out of the picture because, hey, why let someone else destroy the world when you can do it yourself?

The new DLC pack will hit the Marketplace on March 13th, though it will, of course, be free to Legendary members. So hone your skills and prepare for the final showdown; the fate of the Earth is in your hands.

DC Universe Online explains how the Earth powerset rocks out

DC Universe Online players have known that the next major powerset has been set in stone for some time now. The Earth powerset is rolling along, and in the latest developer blog the team explains just how the set works for all sorts of players. At its foundation, the powerset is split into the Geokinesis and Seismic trees, with the former allowing players to shape weapons of stone and the latter projecting earthquakes and similar eruptions.

Mastery of Geokinesis allows players to summon earth golems to fight alongside them, solidifying a defensive strategy with transferred damage and special stone totems. On the other hand, mastery of the Seismic tree lets you summon localized epicenters and yank pillars of stone from the ground, flinging enemies around and knocking them off their feet. While it doesn't seem like the new set will be kind to property values, players will probably have more than a few new tricks to use like a stone-cold killer.

I gotta ask.. Is DC Universe even worth getting back into? I played the beta and didn't buy it when it launched. I give credit this is the first MMO I've played even when being a lowbie you still felt badass.

It's free now, so there is no real reason not to try it again.

Yea if uv got the space, download it ASAP.
I have it downloaded just haven't been fully patching it all up. I may let run during the night. Flying through Metropolis is fun, I used to fly all the way up then drop and do the epic smash when landing.

Yea it took me forever to download all the necessary requirements and that was via a wired connection, but then again, everything takes so damn long on the PSn.

I play on the PC. I rarely ever play console now. I need to get my Xbox Live account up and running again... I miss those days of playing Halo and talking trash and being able to back it up lol. Well sometimes..

I go back and forth on playing this game, I do enjoy it, but it's so hard to commit to an MMO when there are so many other great games out at the same time. This game is essentially the cement that fills the cracks between bricks of other games lol.
