DC Vs Mortal Kombat?

If Warner Bros. buys Midway and/or the Mortal Kombat team / franchise, I just hope it doesn't mean an end to Mortal Kombat as a standalone M-rated franchise. I mean, MK vs. DC is cool and all, but I don't want to see Mortal Kombat tied to DC on a permanent basis.

I can't imagine that. I'd like to see, and I'm not alone, a stand alone MK "M" Rated series. I wouldn't mind more Vs. entries though. MKvs.DCU was excellent.

Besides who wouldn't want to see a potential combined Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment team (Mortal Kombat & DC Universe) to take on Capcom and Marvel? That would be the highest selling fighting game in history!

Mortal Combat vs. DC. vs. Marvel vs. Capcom would be the most epic fighting game ever.

Personally, for the sake of another Mortal Kombat movie, I hope W.B. buys the franchise, Boon and Co. too. MK vs DCU was awesome, just needed more features.

Finally got this game and I have to say Im unimpressed. Its definetly a step up from Armageddon but pales in comparison to other fighters out there like Soul Calibur IV and SF IV. The graphics are pretty bad and appear to be PS2 quality. Gameplay is broken and the characters are unbalanced. As far as the fighters go, Wonder Woman was a disapointment as I dont like the move choices they made with her. Deathstroke is really good and fits into the MK world. Shazam, (cant call him Captain Marvel) is probably the best. Love his attacks and powers.

playing Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. The game looked pretty bad and life less. There was little detail in the levels. They couldnt even get the Green Lantern people in the that stage to move. They just sat there like statutes. The character models are stuff I could easily see on the PS2 or Xbox. Its really only slightly better looking than the MK trilogy of that gen. For a PS3/360 title they were very disappointing. Virtua Fighter 5 came out 2 years before it and looks a hell of alot better.

The sad thing is this is the most balanced 3D MK game to date.

I think the characters in MK/DC are pretty balanced. I'm playing SF now which i'm enjoying more, but I notice that some characters are a lot more stacked then others...moreso then in MK/DC

Saying we will see a MK vs SF is like saying we will get a Marvel Vs DC game :csad:

they need to just stop being hardasses and do marvel v. dc v. capcom v. mk with street fighter iv engine graphics and play style.

get 'er done!

I finally got this today, can't wait to try it out! I played SFIV a lot yesterday though so hopefully it's still good.

playing this after SFIV? Be prepared to be disappointed

I've been playing it for most of the day and I have really enjoyed it. Granted, it plays a lot different than Street Fighter (I find the combos in SF are a lot better) but it's still a lot of fun. The story mode is great.

I haven't played online yet but SF4 drove me insane online. Other players are so lame.

Two completely different games dude, I still play both for different reasons. There's more variety in the online competition in MKDC because most folks actually use different fighters as opposed to SFIV where people constantly use Ryu, Kan and Akuma. fighting the same three characters for hours on end got old quick ( which is why I quit taking SFIV online)

Yea two diff games, but Street Fighter IV is by FAR the more quality product. As far as pure fighting games go, Street Fighter IV is well beyond MK vs DC.

After playing both online I'm finding that MKvsDCU is more about using special moves and Street Fighter 4 is more about using insane combos. Both games are fun in different ways, IMO.

Sure you don't have those two mixed up?

Seems more like MK/DC is about stringing insane combos and SF4 is about mashing your specials to me.

At least, the online play is. And I played both pretty heavy the first while they came out.

Exactly. SF IV is a great game and MK vs DC is mediocore at best. I found SF to be more of a complete package filled with quality. Players spam characters in this game as well. I cant tell you the amount of Scorpion and Flash players Ive come across. The Scorpion players abuse his double teleport move while the Flash players spam the Teleport Furry

Judging fighting games based on the "first while" is ridiculous. of course you're going to see a lot of special mashing. that's when all of the newbies are playing. I haven't played DC VS MK, but I play my fair share of SFIV. Once you get above the terrible players, it's more about either chaining combos, or timing than it is spamming anything.

From my experience from playing SF4 and MKvsDC online this week, I found that the Street Fighter was more about stringing combos together with special moves and getting timing right, while MKvsDC was more about just doing as many special moves as you can and stuff.

I personally found MKvsDC more enjoyable online because the players weren't as lame as they are in SF4. I played so many matches of SF4 where the opponent would just crouch and not move until I attacked. I've since learned it's called turtling and is quite common, but is incredibly boring and stupid.

Midway today announced that they have received a more than $33 million offer from Warner Bros. to buy out most of their company.

"It's in writing now, that there is interest," said Geoffrey Mogilner, director of corporate communications for Midway, who added that the company has been in talks with other potential owners as well.

The "stalking horse" asset purchase agreement with Warner Bros. Entertainment would include rights to Mortal Kombat and Midway's studios in Chicago and Seattle. The agreement would not include the studio in San Diego, Newcastle or the TNA wrestling franchise.

The Warner Bros. decision to not include the Newcastle or San Diego studios or the TNA rights was a decision the company made based on what they felt was best for their company, Mogilner said. Midway currently holds a multi-year, multi-game contract with TNA and are already working on the next title, Mogilner said.

The offer for Midway does include picking up the rights to Wheelman, which was developed in Newcastle.

The news comes months after we heard that Warner Bros. was one of three groups looking to buy the company. At the time we were told that Warner Bros., Ubisoft and a private Chicago investor were all looking to pick up Midway. Our sources told us Warner Bros. were at the top of the list with a vice president already touring Midway's headquarters.

Warner Bros' offer is for $33 million, subject to adjustment, plus the agreed value of Midway's U.S. account receivables. Something, Mogilner said, that would be calculated when and if the bid is approved.

Attorneys were meeting this morning to set up a hearing to discuss this initial bid, he said.

Prior to finalizing the deal, there will be a court-supervised auction process to handle any possible competing bids. That process, if approved by the court, would give other companies 30 days to make a bid, with the auction happening a few days after the bidding stops.

Warner Bros' offer "is an opening bid," Mogilner said. "We're going to kick off a process once the court approves this bid. We're expecting other potential investors to come in and make bids on portions, set of assets or the whole thing.

"We've been actively speaking with a number of interested parties and continue to do so."

The publisher of Mortal Kombat filed for bankruptcy in February. The filing kicked off a soap opera of allegations of back room dealings, and corporate waste.

I saw this game at Target on Sale for $30 and I'm considering getting it come payday this week. I think it would be nice to have in my collection plus w/e I have a bunch of buddies over when can have a couple matchs.

this is a good game to own. I've had it since release and I still find myself playing it once in a while.
