DC Vs Mortal Kombat?

I still play it, too. And all my friends love it, so it's a great game for when you have your friends over and they're tired of UFC 2009.

I don't think so. I don't see DC letting their character having their heads ripped off or the spine tore out.

I read some of that on mk5.org, should be exciting. I cant wait for pictures and trailers.

I really don't buy it until there's an official announcement. Ed Boon says all kinds of crap that isn't even remotely true; it's what he's known for...

Indeed, i am pretty disappointed MK vs. DC never got that DLC.

Looks like Mortal Kombat belongs to Warner Brothers now.

Warner Bros. Wins Bid For Midway For A Very Simple Reason
By Michael McWhertor, 6:00 PM on Fri Jun 26 2009

Looks like the new home of Mortal Kombat, Joust, Spy Hunter and other well-known Midway properties will be Warner Bros. after all. The media conglomerate looks to have won bidding rights to the publisher and developer by default.

According to the LA Times' report on the matter, Warner's $33 million bid for the better portion of the company's assets was the only serious offer. There were no other formal bids.

As part of a buy out time line that would accept offers until June 24th, Midway's goods and people were previously planned to go up for auction on June 29th to the entity with the deepest pockets. No need for that now.

Warner's bid would net the media giant development studios in Chicago (Mortal Kombat, Stranglehold) and Seattle (The Suffering, This Is Vegas) and rights to new and classic IP. It would also almost certainly mean another Mortal Kombat and DC crossover.

Midway still has two orphaned studios, one in San Diego, one in Newcastle (Wheelman), with the latter currently seeking a buyer for the team and its original Necessary Force property.

More details at the LA Times.

They better wait to see how The Last Airbender does...just in case.

MK movie reboot time! :D

While I'd love this, I really doubt it's going to happen. It's not like the property is picking up steam; nobody really cares about Mortal Kombat anymore except the hardcore fans, and that's not really enough to justify spending the money on starting a new franchise.

Just look at what happened with the new Street Fighter. :o

But that movie really didn't have a good Marketing Strategy i didn't even know that the Streef Fighter Movie Was Being Made until i saw a TV Spot the week it came out. And The Movie didn't really have a solid cast or Director

Yeah, but do you think MK would be any different? No, because studios aren't willing to pour money into new franchises when they aren't either amazing scripts or guaranteed to make money, so they just use what they can get for cheap and you get The Legend of Chun Li. :o

MK and Street Fighter arguably peaked in the 90's. Even though I'd love to see a new franchise that rocked, I don't think there's enough appeal to justify a studio spending millions on it. Not until they make a new MK game that re-ignites the fanbase, anyway. It's a pretty dumb move to make a film from a game who's developers just went bankrupt because of poor sales.

But wasn't MK one of the few franchises that Midway had that were doing good?

But man...that was sicking bad.
Good writing and marketing can help MK.

But I agree that it doesn't have its appeal anymore like in the 90's.

I don't know if this is the right thread, but does anyone else here think that MK vs Looney Tunes would be a much cooler idea?

That would be a movie i would love to See but what would the story be? MK realms merging with Street Fighter?
