Deadpool 2 Deadpool 2 News and Discussion

Thats good I wasn't a fan of how X-force was becoming deadpool 3. This sounds much better

This being Deadpool, I'd almost expect there to be some sort of meta statement about sequel-itis in the film.

Seriously, Reese and Wernick are such a huge and great get for these films not just because they're good writers, but they get the material they're dealing with here.

On Goddard's role as a consultant

“We're on it every day. Drew has been a consultant on the project, and is a wonderful, creative voice that's helped guide us. But in terms of writing, we're have been the only writers on it, and we'll continue to be the only writers on it. As we go to shoot - and again, I know the rumor was floating around that Drew had taken over writing, and that is a false rumor that hopefully will be put to bed sooner than later - but we're actively involved with crafting the script with Ryan and working with the director.”

Regarding the tone

The tone will be the same. It’s going to be the same in that it'll break rules -- in some of the old ways, and some new ways. But it's going to be the same Deadpool people were entertained with and enjoyed in the first movie. We're not so crazy as to change that. But, new characters. New story. It's going to be really fun. We think it's going to be emotional. We're so excited about what we have on our hands right now, the 119 pages we have on our hands. And we're just getting ready to shoot it.”

Goddard seems to be setting up shop at Fox with this consultancy and his new film that Fox is backing up. It'd be cool if he could be brought into the fold for future X-Men projects (particularly the flagship).

119 pages, huh? Seems like they want to keep things tight. The final shooting script for the first one was 118 pages long (the first draft from 2010 was 113 pages).

Not that I've got anything against that. The original is perfectly paced.

I like that they keep talking about it being emotional, as the heart was one of the reasons the first one worked as much as it did (and more than its first draft, which was had less heart, and was more on the comical side).

I can't wait to see what they've cooked up, and if the sequel will be inspired by one of the comics' storylines. Personally, I'd love it if they use the story from Joe Kelly's run where Deadpool tries to be a hero, but of course ends up failing miserably.

That would make for an emotional story, which further delves into Wade's psyche.

I think Goddard is itching to direct a superhero film since his Sinister Six film was scrapped. While I didn't agree with the way Sony was going about it, the story sounded bat**** crazy, which is appropriate for Deadpool. His work on Daredvil and Angel was great, not to mention Cabin in the woods being awesome. I'd love for him to be the guy behind X-force and would much prefer him over Kinberg for the next X-Men film.

I'd rather have Joe Carnahan direct his own script on X-Force. He's a better fit for a hard-boiled superhero project.

Goddard would be an interesting pick for Gambit instead.

Goddard on the next X-Men film would be a dream. Especially since all the directors that fans seemed to want that were either Fox-friendly or Singer-friendly (Vaughn, Reeves, McQuarrie) are occupied with their own big projects. Maybe he'd be willing to push back that film that just got picked up by Fox? But he might also just want to work on his original projects.

Carnahan would be a better fit for X-Force if Leitch doesn't return as well.

If there's anything to pick up from Fox's recent successes, it's that character is everything and I hope DP2 continues that trend. Really dig deep into Wade as well as Neena, Nate, NTW and Piotr. I do think it'd be cool if Black Tom Cassidy and Juggernaut were the villains though - have them want Wade's healing factor like in the comics.

Black Tom being after Wade's healing factor would be awesome. And of course Pierce Brosnan would be a perfect fit for the role.

Does anyone else think that Wyre, Garrison Kane and Sluggo - who were condensed into Angel Dust - could pop up in the sequel?

Goddard was my choice for the next X-Men movie but we will have Kinberg :csad: . Please Fox, it should be Drew :cmad:.

It's a rumor at this point, but Sneider is probably onto something. He's probably working real hard right now to break Cable news if he tweeted it - wants to get it ahead of Justin Kroll or Borys Kit.

I won't lie Brad Pitt to me would be a pretty epic choice. And he's actually had very little box office juggernaut type movies. I'm pretty sure World War Z was his highest grossing flick. It would be a real catch to get someone like Brad in a project like this.

Among those who are rumored to be up for the role, Brad Pitt and David Harbour are my fav so far.

George Clooney and Aaron Eckhart are other two actors who come to mind.

Agree on Carnahan, let him direct X-Force. I wonder if they are eyeing Goddard for Deadpool 3 and this is why he is consulting on the sequel.

Personally though i would love Goddard to direct the next main team X-Men movie. Kinberg isn't confirmed yet, and hopefully Fox see sense and give the next movie to a real director with talent.

Yes and yes!

That's far too logical and as far as the main films go, if Kinberg is indeed being eyed for directing and writing, then we know that Fox doesn't entirely deal in logic for some of the main films.

But it seems like there's a plethora of talent for Deadpool, and good for this series.

I have no idea what is going on with flagship X-men but odds are Drew Goddard is consulting on deadpool 2 because he is going to deadpool 3.
reportly Carnahan and reynolds are working on X_force script which Carnahan
reportly will direct.

It would be coup if they got Brad Pitt to play Cable.

Pitt as Cable would be crazy awesome.

Oh hell yes give me Tyler Durden/Mickey O'Neil/Aldo Raine as Cable.

Brad Pitt sounds like star power casting to me. Crossiny my fingers for David Harbour. ;)

I'd be happy with either but I just feel like... if you can get Brad Pitt, then YOU F***ING GO GET BRAD PITT. I like Harbour a lot and he's an interesting up-and-comer, but Pitt has created some truly iconic characters in his career. And his performance in Fury proved that he can play the hardened, grizzled, barely-holding-it-together war veteran type really well. I wanted him for Deathstroke forever, but Cable would be just as good.

I'm cool with Brad Pitt as Cable but my question is would he come back for a X-Force film and if so would he do a sequel if the first one is successful. Bottom line would a star of his caliber commit to a multi-picture deal?

Whoever gets cast knows that he's in for at least two movies: Deadpool 2 and X-Force.

Most likely more than that. I think the Cable actor will need to commit to something similar to what Chris Evans had to for Cap. Because you know they'll want X-Force sequels if the film is a hit and if the Cable character resonates with people (and he should) they'll probably want him to make other, smaller appearances in DP3 and maybe New Mutants.
