I'm gonna be honest: whilst I'm happy the movie's done well there's one thing I'm worried about that might be a result of how successful it it. No, it's not the "R-rated copycats" BS that James Gunn expressed concern about. It's something much worse.
You see, Rob Liefeld, the guy who (technically) created Deadpool, recently admitted he had Fox crowbar his name into the "Based on" part of the credits of the movie. Now I say technically, because everything people love about the character (the 4th wall humor, his personality, etc) was done by other people who would later write the character after Liefeld stopped writing for him (Liefeld's notorious for writing bland characters, even when writing for ones he DIDN'T create that otherwise AREN't ex. Captain America). However, he's also created bad comics like Youngblood and The Godyssey, BOTH of which he's been trying to get made into movies for a few years! My concern is that, given DP's success, Liefeld's movie attempts for those two properties might finally SUCCEED in getting made! And he'd try and fool people into seeing them by marketing it as "From the creator of Deadpool"! I REALLY hope this doesn't happen but knowing Liefeld's massive ego, he will at least TRY to get them off the ground.
