I have that one so wearing it in Feb :awesome:

These are awesome :woot: Where can I find them?

No, it wouldn't. What looks "stupid as hell" is sticking to the lame black leather matrix outfits that deliberately look nothing like the source material when we have so many cinematic superheroes that look like their comic book counterparts. It's been over a decade since the first X-men movies and they still shy away from looking like the comic book X-men. It's pathetic at this point.
I'm not a fan of the black leather look either, but X-men comic costumes are some of the most ridiculous and poorly designed in all of Marvel, and Marvel knows it - look how often their official costumes change in the comics. Because of this the X-Men (with perhaps the exclusion of Wolverine) do not have the iconic, character defining outfits like Spider-Man or Captain America; they are far more defined by WHO they are and their powers than by what they wear. I am completely fine with the X-men getting less than faithful outfits for the movies (though it'd be nice if hints of comic costumes remained). I would NOT want to see straight adaptations of most of their comic variations.

The X-men wearing campy and colourful costumes doesn't even make sense in the comics. They're either fighting hate crimes or are at the edge of extinction. Bright blues and yellows (not to mention the unnecessary belts and underwear on the outside that you think wouldn't look stupid) don't match that tone and the movies know it.

I liked the more classic First Class team suits. And now NTW's team suit has something more classic as well. There's a middle ground here. For example Cyclops can be given something more akin to Hawkeye in Civil War only a darker blue with some yellow belts. I believe there are quite a bit of rumors that the main films will be moving more in the color route as well based on some quotes by Singer and some posters on the X-Men boards.

Not everything has to be black. The X-Men are not all super dark characters. Alot of them are teenagers with bright personalities, not Yost or Remenders dark hit squad. The bright colored costumes fit their personalities as well as the tone of many comics that are intended to be fun as well as have an engaging story with dramatic elements. Like the majority of Marvel books.

Several things here:

1. It's disingenous to say that the X-men only fight hate crimes or extinction. They also fight aliens and dinosaurs, explore other worlds, travel through time etc.The X-men have a crazy, colorful comic book history and some uniforms that reflect that would be appropriate.

2. Is there some rule that if you're fighting hate crimes or extinction, you can only wear black leather outfits that looked cool 15 years ago? Isn't there a Captain America movie where he's fighting in WW2 in the red white and blues? Hell, isn't there an X-men movie where they fight hate crimes and extinction in yellow and blue outfits? I rest my case.

3. It goes without saying that the suits would need to be modified so pretending that they would look ridiculous on screen when we've pretty much already seen one adaption of them is just flat out dishonest. You're trying to defend the black leather, but apparently that's getting harder and harder to do.

4. I'm willing to bet that the movie in question (Deadpool) will be a runaway hit and show Fox that Marvel fans will reward you for sticking closely to the source material. This could potentially mean more comic-accurate costumes in the future, and when/if we do get them, I guarantee you no one is going to be clamoring for the black leather saying they "made more sense".

I was there and no they didn't. We hoped it would be good, we had optimism but no one had made up their minds definitively before release, aside from those who decided to hate it since it was announced.

...And in the end, weren't they 100% justified?

You said Doom was gonna end up being better than most MCU villains.
He said a lot of things he's apparently forgetting. Lol.

Well, the idea was that they would look like superheroes to show they were the "good guys" fighting the evil mutants that threatened mankind.

It's extremely challenging to cheer for the "straight from the comics" approach of Miller and Reynold's Deadpool after defending the disgrace that was Trank and Kinberg's Fant4stic. It's much easier to pretend it didn't happen.

This film has my two favorite Mutants in it, Colossus and Deadpool, so I can't wait for this film.

If the movies abandon the tone the franchise has used up until now, then I guess Avengers looking costumes would reflect that new direction. I'm in the camp that doesn't want to see dinosaurs in an X-men movie.

The Captain America movie spent a lot of time justifying that costume. The X-men aren't even wearing black leather anymore so I don't know why we are arguing. My defence for the black leather is that the first movie came out in a different movie landscape. I don't want them used now and they aren't being used now. I said that a direct translation of Cyclops's 90s costume doesn't fit.

Deadpool is part meta-parody of the genre as a whole. So of course he needs to look like he's from the comics. The X-men, as teachers/students that do some field work, don't need avengers outfits. Some colour is great, I agree. But not 90s X-men colour.

Umm, the two viewpoints are not exactly at odds with each other. I know, everything has to be a zero sum game in fandoms, but it is entirely possible to like both approaches.

Didn't notice this the first time, but in the second trailer we can see the Blackbird behind Colossus. Miller said it would be appearing in the film already but you can see a glimpse of the back of the jet.

Ummmmmmmmm.......a project that clearly adores the underlying source material is not at odds with a film that rejects everything fans love about the franchise? Agree to disagree!

Again, the zero sum game many people play.

People are allowed to like different things. Liking the Deadpool designs does not mean you cannot like the FF designs.

Some argue just to argue. Best to ignore them as they don't understand that while we may want more comic accuracy and be excited when it happens we don't disown a franchise solely for doing things differently. Great movies are more important than great costumes and the 'defenders' of Fantastic Four were optimistic for a great movie based on the talent involved. The optimism was misplaced in the end but optimism beats pessimism for me any day of the week.

Only in their being behind the scenes problems which led to the final product quality, not at all in attitude and wanting it to fail.

Not at all. I challenge you to find a post where I said the movie will be great. I only ever posted I hoped it would be great.

You and others posted with certainty I did no such thing as I don't form an irreversible concrete opinion before viewing a final product

He's rewriting history.:yuk:

 Man those boards were the epitome of Epic. After the film came out, the apologists just vanished. Like now they're pretending as if they weren't defending the film when there's evidence.

Some argue just to argue concerning the non-MCU Marvel franchises. The ASM costume for example was ridiculed but you can bet if the new Spider-Man has a similiar or worse starting costume it wont be.

It's clear you don't understand the difference between posting with optimism and posting with fortune-teller certainty.

I hoped the movie would be good, I wanted it to be good and unfortunately it wasn't and I admit that.

You can hold whatever opinions you want of me but don't rewrite history to paint me as one who formed a definitive judgement long before release and never budged as I never did that. I was in fact very much against such a mentality.

Back to Deadpool.....

Yes back to Deadpool, it has taken me about 20 times of watching the trailer but I have finally realised who Deadpool reminds me of when he is saying the kebab line, Mark Wahlberg.

In the German version of the Deadpool trailer there are some alternates takes being used. Deadpool (in the VO) basically refers to Angel Dust as a 'discount Catwoman' and I think there was also a Shrek reference in there. :p
