The Dark Knight Rises Depp to play the Riddler and Hoffman to be Penguin?

Depp's a great actor but I hope he doesn't come close to this franchise. He's too exposed and I prefer Nolan's MO of casting quality actors who aren't super mainstream stars.

Want to know why this is a rumor? Cause the movie is a couple weeks old, and Nolan has said he is taking time before looking at Batman again to see if he'll do a third. So, how did they get villains chosen for a story he has yet to craft?

Yeah I mean TDK is just 3 weeks old (US release) so obviously film websites write down who they want for Batman 3 and that doesn't hurt by doing that.

I would love to see Depp play the Riddler - but that would almost absolutely lead to a much larger role for the Riddler than the character, IMO, needs in the next movie.

Hoffman is, of course, a great choice for the Penguin - though this story has no credibility in that regard. If it was up to me, however, Paul Giamati would be my Cobblepot.

Lol. I don't think he and Depp had met yet when Batman '89 was filmed.

I'm a big fan of Depp, I'd love to see him as Riddler, or anyone really. And Hoffman as the Penguin would be a good choice. But Nolan ruled out featuring the Penguin, did he not?

There doesn't seem to be any weight to that story though, just fantasy casting.

The way I see it, Sam Raimi had ruled out Venom before Spiderman III came out, but went ahead last minute and put him in anyways (even if it was done poorly), so that doesn't mean Penguin or Catwoman are out for sure.

But on the article, I am not going to believe anything this early. Personally I doubt even Nolan really knows what he is going to do yet fully.

To be honest, I don't think anyone actually wants Johnny Depp to be in a Batman movie...I think they just want Jack Sparrow to be in a Batman movie.

There are better choices than Depp for any of the Batman villians.
