As far as the VO. I think its more annoying earlier in the series. All the VO seems to be in the 1st season is how he doesn't feel, & he is dark blah, blah, blah....

I have always wondered if the VO is him confessing his story to someone, the Police, Vogel, etc...

That's an interesting thought, but he usually talks in present tense unless referring specifically to his past with other characters. I could see them doing something like that in the last episode or something, though.

Did anyone else notice how weird Sean Patrick Flannery face looked in the car scene with Deb? His make-up was horrible, coupled with the fact that he has had work done...his face looks really weird now....

Also i have a feeling Dex is either going to end up killing Deb, as self preservation is in his nature as the doctor hinted at, or he's going to surprise the doctor and sacrifice himself for Deb.

Watched Rope last night. Couldn't help but think of Vogel watching Stewart's character. I doubt that Vogel will have the same change of heart though.

Then again if she sees Dexter actually at work. Maybe she will react as Harry did. That would be interesting.

Its one thing to kill. As Doakes pointed out, the ritual is what is most messed up about Dexter. As Dexter pointed out in season one. The ritual of setting up the kill room is what he loved most. Besides the blood slides of course.

I brought up that theory a while back, but had to take it down, because the show hadn't aired yet, so it was considered spoilers.

I don't think they are going this route, but who knows.

I'm almost positive there was video footage of her getting chain-sawed so there was no doubt it's her. At the very least they should've been able to identify the remains as his mother.

Throwing in Vogel as his mother also seems like the jumping off point to a new season which there won't be.

nah, i prefer the earlier season VO's myself. the new VO's are just him stating obvious facts or cursing,and they're not even that often anymore cause they're usually replaced by him talking to ghost harry.

Know what we desperately needed more of and should've been introduced WAAY earlier? Ghost Brian. He should've been a staple of this show from the get go. Him be the devil on Dexter's shoulder urging him on to break the code and Harry the angel preaching for the code. Could've created some really great moments with Dexter trying to figure himself out more but alas, we get one damn episode with Ghost Brian. Such a pity

I do think it is safe to say that Vogel is the mother of Dexter's Dark Passenger.

I really don't think he is a Psychopath. I think with out Harry & Vogel's interference. He could have grown up normal. That's why I say she is the Dark Mother.

I think Vogel is actually killing off all her old experiments. Dexter is her hammer.

Did anyone else think the Cannibal dude was flirting with Dex, before we found out what he really wanted?

I don't think that's too safe to say. Dexter was clearly messed up as a kid. I think he was clearly a psychopath in the first season or two, but he's grown a lot through his experiences: marriage, making a kid, raising a family (albeit briefly). He's evolved into something else, with just shades of that psychopathic side remaining. I really don't think Harry doing what he did made his psychotic at all. If anything, had Harry done nothing, he probably would've turned out just like Brian.

Of course, if you want to talk realistically, the best option was for Harry to take him to some kind of institute. Then he could have had this transformation at an earlier age, but you know, TV logic and all that. In the end, I think Harry and Vogel's issue is that they seem to think people can't fundamentally change, which leads them to do what they do. But Dexter had changed, and changed a lot.

Perfect looking box set for the series. Ill probably just pick up the first 5 seasons though.

I don't think he was a Psycho in the early seasons. I think he is just socially ******ed. For whatever reason he has trouble connecting to people socially. Could be, because since he was at least 9. Harry has treated him like an alien.

He has always shown that he cares about people. At the end of the 1st season when Brian took Deb. He lost his mind. That is something a Psychopath would not have felt. He seemed torn up about killing his brother as well.

The Shipping container incident certainly damaged him, but I think Harry damaged him more by just assuming he was a Psycho.

I think Vogel just wanted an experiment that was young enough to mold. I think Hitler said something like give me a child, & I will give you a soldier. Something like that anyway.
