Horror Dexter - Part 6

I think that's what they were going for. In their attempt to end Dexter they made an ending ambiguous enough to appeal to either side of the fanbase (happy ending, bad ending) while instead failing to satisfy either.

This Ending was so sad & terrifying. To know that Dexter is gone & the DP is unleashed. He is like the perfect killer, goosebumpskies. Batman gone darksided!!

why is it that an 'expected' ending is so bad? there are many ways they could have done this ending with it being somewhat expected... for me it was more about HOW it happens.

the problem is he can morph into a fish.

Deb died faster and with just about no reason like Padme........ **** this show.

LOL @ The Hurricane.

Seriously, wished it killed everyone in Miami. Also, the Quinn/Dexter 2.0 spoiler would have been better than this ****.

dot see how they failed to satisfy either
A lot of people hate it... not sure how that's satisfying to anyone. It's not definitively over. The ending was a complete twist, I'll definitely give them credit for that. This isn't going to be as infamous as The Sopranos or other series with a big finale but it will certainly be memorable.

Honestly...I was rooting for Dexter to have a happy ending, but the darker ending was satisfying for me in that I liked how true to the core of the earlier seasons of the show it felt. It hurt so good, in other words.

I knew he was a fish all along.

Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were the only things that kept me watching the show after season 4. Their performances, even when the plot got ridiculous, were always compelling.

That's why I thought the finale was flawed. It leaves him choice. As it is, he's a lumberjack. What happens if they decide to do a movie or to pick up the story in a mini series a few years from now? There's still connections to his humanity wandering around.

I think the only connection to humanity he has left is that fact that he's even alive. I don't think he ever had real friendships or connections to anyone at Miami Metro except for Matthews.
He dissolved his imaginary Harry.
He left Hannah and Harrison.
Deb is dead.

Dexter is just a shell.

i just love how it gave us a sad ending tv's bad guys need a sad ending

vick mackey got it and now dexter got it

walter white your next

I actually do buy his self-imposed exile though. He said it himself, he destroys everything he loves. I don't think he was equipped emotionally to deal with Deb's death. From the beginning she has been his strongest tie to normalcy. Like he says in the narration, first he wanted nothing more than to feel...now he just wants it to stop. To experience something like the loss of Deb when he was at his most "human" and know deep down that it's his fault...it's too much for him. He realizes now that he can never really change. And he doesn't want to continue being Harrison's dad if he's an empty shell of himself and has the need to kill again. There's still a loving, human part of him deep down that loves Harrison and Hannah, but it's buried in a sea of darkness that he knows he'll never be able to escape. He doesn't want to inflict it on them.
I think it works very well thematically, characterwise and storywise - he's always found it easier to just be a monster, and we see him choosing that on purpose rather than face the true emotions and consequences of being a 'normal' person.

Honestly, I think it's about as definitive as the ending of The Dark Knight Rises. Sure, he could go back to Gotham and re-assume the mantle, but that's kind of flying in the face of what the ending was saying. Which was that he was able to overcome his demons and move on.

The ending of Dexter was basically the opposite of that, he realizes he can never change or move on because that would mean having to live with Deb's death on his conscience every day. So he shuts off. I see it as a pretty definitive ending. He becomes a logger and will spend the rest of his days amassing a new blood slide collection. Sure, I'm filling in some blanks, but it seems to logically follow the conclusion that Dexter makes about himself as he dumps Deb's body.

the whole
Now that I feel, I just want it to stop.
thing is amazing... it could have been so much better though.

Maybe he isn't full dark passenger. He just is. Deb's death caused a psychotic break and just an empty husk now.

Exactly how I feel. This stuff surprised me. I liked where they left him. Deb being his last victim and completely giving up as a normal human. I bought that. This spark of life in the writing was completely absent the entire season.

The execution of the ending was bad (Deb's death), but the idea is there.

The whole season should have carried that weight that he felt in the last few moments. Instead we got daughter **** and studying exams.

i will say i loved saxon's death it was'nt dramatic or theatrical is was blunt ,straight forward ,and brutal

'Wood Working'

ctfo how is this as well as
Dexter becoming the dark passenger and Walt becoming his own dark passenger
not related :hehe: the coincidence is mind boggling.

even better, we keep comparing the shows and say theres nothing to compare :funny:

I don't know, I'm not convinced this is the end. There has to be plans for a film (or multiple films). It just doesn't feel completely resolved. As a series finale it totally works,
but Dexter is still out there and he will kill again. Although this chapter of his life has ended it seems like a new one is beginning, his journey back to his son.

It was a BIC pen man. a ****ing BIC pen. seriously [BLACKOUT]debs death being Dexters final kill is awesome... but saxons death being the final bad ass kill in dexter style is ****. [/BLACKOUT]

I'm not sure how to feel about this yet, just finished watching it and caught up on the thread. Still processing it

It seems clear to me now that the first 11 episodes of this season were basically a huge troll and an attempt to convince us that we were headed towards a happy ending so they could rip it out from under us in the last episode. I bought it hook, line and sinker too, I truly thought Dexter was going to get a fresh start.

Ultimately, it didn't pay off because the direction of this season turned 90% of the fanbase against the show, but this one really was something of a punch to the gut. I haven't felt this way after a Dexter episode since Rita's death. And this feels much, much sadder.

The final Dexter and Saxon scene was really suspenseful. I was actually really into it. "I wish I could blame you for everything, but I know it's all my fault." That was awesome.

:(

I wish all of dexters victims bodies would have risen from the river at the end and bustista would be like wtf!
