Dexter

I can see why they had to get rid of her though... I mean, in Seasons 3 and the first half of 4, she was annoying the crap out of me.
She didn't annoy me, but I could see where they were running out of things to do with her.

I finished the last episode last night, and holy **** that was awesome! Anyone think that Dexter might teach the code to his kids? Like maybe they'll start going homicidal!

I'm sure it wont be something he actively does unless they exhibit behavior similar to his when he was young. Dexter doesn't seem like the person to mold someone like that unless it was already there.

I think he'll teach the code to Harrison, since it seems like Harrison will be going down the same path.

it wasn't as bad tho, Dex was a little older at the time and was in that room with his chopped up mom for 3 days

anyways i hope he doesn't share the code with his kids. I want it to start and end with Dexter

I'm just interested to see how Dexter will cope without Rita. All the household chores, the kids, etc. It will be a major adjustment especially with his extracurricular activities.

Well, Harry said the main reason that Dexter became who he is because that stuff got to him too early. So Harry being younger may make that worse.

I don't know, the stuff Dexter said about them both being bathed in blood now makes me thing we'll be seeing a lot of parallels between Harrison/Dexter and Dexter/Harry. But Dexter may handle it differently since he understands Harrison while Harry didn't really understand Dexter.

That's what I'm interested in seeing too. That's why I'm glad they didn't just jump ahead in time. I want to see how this change affects Dexter's life.

I think it's better for Dexter's development to actually show the aftereffects of Rita's death, especially after all the questioning he did about his status as a father in Season 4. If they jumped ahead that would feel like a total waste for great potential character development and I would expect an inferior show to do something like that just to avoid things slowing down the killing and whatnot.

Dexter was a terrible father and he's going to still be an incompetent father. I enjoyed season 4 as much as the rest of you but its flaws severely stuck out. The stupid romantic subplots in the early part of the season. Changing Trinity's tone to a childish fool before refocusing his character as a badass and the absolutely ******ed way they handled Rita's death. I just hope the writing flaws don't carry over into season 5.

I agree with you about the childish part. I kind of had an "ehhh" moment when he started with the trains and things like that. I also thought Rita's death was so sudden, it was kind of anti-climatic. Not to say I didn't enjoy it though, because I did.

It was just really sloppily handled. Going from Trinity finding Dexter's apartment which magically leads him to his house is just wut.

Does anyone think that season 5 will be the end of Dexter or would like you see a season 6 or maybe 7?

I'm not sure, but I hope they end it while it's good, so we have a complete series.

I'm hoping it ends at season 6.

Give us season 5 to see Dexter slowly adapt and adjust to a Rita-less life (with no big bad?)

Season 6 to see his story wrapped up.

Personally, I hope it's a tense last season between Dexter and Debra (who finds out about his little secret at the end of season 5).

No official date has been set, but by deductive reasoning I'll say late summer 2010.

That's called a plot-twist.

If they showed Trinity actually breaking into Dexter's house and killing Rita, the discovery of her body wouldn't have been surprising now, would it?

Trinity knew who Dexter was. From that point on, it wasn't exactly rocket-science to put everything together and find out where he stayed. That's why Dexter was sweating bullets when he saw him at the police station.

Changing Trinity's tone to a childish fool before refocusing his character as a badass

Gee, how shocking he has more than one facet of his personality. Just like... a *gasp*... real person! Most people would see that as the writers making him three dimensional, and not merely a cartoony one-note character. You seem to have an issue with character development.

Season 4 was awesome. Just because you didn't get it, doesn't mean the scene with Rita in the bath or Trinity at the train-set were flaws.

JJJ Ulcer is right. Who cares if it makes sense. As long as the twist is great!

I hope Dexter chases a serial killer next season that ends up being a half evolved monkey that has human reasoning, but primal instincts. WHAT A TWIST!

To be honest, I know they already did Lila... but I really want him to meet someone who's... like him... you know? :csad:

I still want to see somebody that either truly frightens Dexter or at least someone that really confuses him. Someone that even Dexter cant understand in short a true monster. Someone who has no discernible motivations and is truly and utterly evil

Kind of like a TDK Joker...he's already established as a cold killer, we learn nothing of him and he just causes total anarchy. (I could just compare him more to a real life serial killer, but there's just no fun in that. At all).

I could get into that!

GhostVirus, stop telling us about your fan-fiction ideas.

Gee, Trinity tracked down the residence of Dexter's wife after finding out where he worked. What a stretch! :whatever:

Hell he was in Deb's house. Is it so unbelievable that he found something with Dexter's new address on it? A letter, piece of documentation, something?
